Nothing wrong with older vehicles. We have 6 in our family, the newest is a 2010. I’ve only purchased two brand new vehicles, one in 1985 and one in 1995 My favorite is my ‘67 VW, not an ounce of tech, electronics, or sensors on it…

My Ford STX 2007 is still going strong with almost 160,000 miles, Mark. I tend to hold onto autos for a while, but I couldn't even fathom paying 47,000.00 today for basically the same pickup.

Yes, that program ruined the classic car market. I live 22 miles from Mexico, and I've seen so , SOOO MANY semi's hauling crashed vehicles down to Mexico,,, so MANY of "OUR" U.S. Junk yards, are "GONE"! You cannot get parts for old cars, or even cars from say........2000... the EPA and all of this GREEN SHIT has screwed EVERYTHING UP!

I've written about my two vehicles before. I have a 1970 F-250 truck and a 2020 Camry LE. I have a truck when I need one and an everyday car for everything else. My 1970 F-250 was bought 10 years ago for $10K. It's not "car show restored" but about 75% worth. I bought it that way and get a lot of compliments wherever I go. Today...I have it insured with Hagerty for 25K. They think it's worth that much. Do what Mark is showing. Hang on to or buy older reliable vehicles and put your money to other important needs...like mortgage and insurance.

I moved to Costa Rica, bringing along my Japanese plant built 2006 Toyota 4Runner V8 Sport Edition. I've driven from the Pacific to the Atlantic Oceans, with stops in rain forests. No problems, and I still enjoying the driving experience. It also doesn't have all the new technology, that transmits your data to manufacturers, insurance companies, cell phone providers, etc.

I drive a 2016 Colorado I bought new. After almost 8 years of ownership, I am pleased it’s been a good, solid, reliable truck. Simple layout, no giant screens, normally aspirated v6, six speed transmission. Best of all, it’s paid for.

The only problem with older vehicles is people selling them are taking advantage and jacking up the prices of those as well! Some people will have 250000 km have a 2012 truck and think asking twenty two thousand dollars is acceptable and it absolutely is not!

That's why we drive a bunch of old vehicles. Just sold my Dad's old 78 Chev Scottsdale last year (he bought it in 79), got it when he passed away in 2010. It was so handy for doing odd jobs around the yard. It finally was rusted away so bad, sold it to a guy for parts, it still ran! Still have my parents 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan (bought in 2004), it's got 350,000km. I've used it for years for driving to work, still on original motor and transmission. Why wear out an $80,000 vehicle to drive to work. I think it will rust away before it dies, still doesn't use oil, the 3.3 V6 has been awesome. Our other Grand Caravan is a 2011 with 300,000km and still on original motor and transmission. All were bought used and I don't think total purchase cost is over $20,000 for all 3. Leaves alot of money for buying a house, going on a trip or buying other things.

I had a V6 ram 1500. 800 bucks a month on gas plus payment, maintenance and insurance. I decided to go with a 2 year old EV instead. My car payments are slightly higher but I’m saving 750 bucks a month on gas, have something way better and have 6 years of warranty remaining on batteries and motors . Only now do I truly notice the savings. Old gas guzzlers aren’t an option either. They may be reliable but gas is too expensive

if i had 50k to spend on a truck.id be looking for a 70s thru 90s model.the reason their still around is because they LAST a LONG time.& are dirt cheap to repair & maintain.& to a certain extent restore as well.beats paying 50k for a truck that has a 2k$ bill every repair.warrentys dont last forever, but maintenence & repairs do.knew vehicles are designed to be money pits.
