@@OrangeCoookie We all need reat, but with dropset you will play more that will increase your gains 20kgX1setX10 + 10kgX1setX (to failure) That will give you high gain than just 20kg (the first set without the 10kg)

They have their place in a training routine but the reality is that you might actually be hurting your recovery in a well-balanced routine. That being said I basically superset every set but do a full body routine so I'll go from like bench to leg press so it's not quite the same as going from say, pull ups to rows.

Unless your pressing / pulling hellaweight PF is for you lol nothing wrong with it don't be a follower and bash PF just bc everyone else does. I go to a powerlifting gym and PF bc they're equipment is ALWAYS smooth and up to date other then free weight squat rack and bench it's straight.

For dropset it's the opposite as you usually work to failure so rest time needs to be 3min+ to do the next set with the same performance

Why do people assume everyone that uses their phone in the gym is being unproductive or whatnot, I use my phone to write down the numbers for my lifts and to play some death fucking metal and if anything my phone helps me stay focused and keeps me accountable

You can do giantsets, rest 3 mins and go at it again, the only reason you rest is to regain energy to push yourself hard on the next set, you don't rest for muscle growth, that happens in the 24/48h after you've worked out

His point is that immediately lowering the weight and continuing the set isn't beneficial vs resting, and continuing after a couple of minutes with the same amount of weight. Do you really think he means "there is no difference between doing a dropset and going nothing at all"?

@@luca5747 well but that takes away time that you could've used to start another workout or another set with the same weight? At the end of the day you are just spending more time at the gym, which of course is going to translate to higher volume but that's no different than doing extra sets.

A SUPERSET is actually when you work apposing muscle groups back to back, (bicep curl/tricep extension) a COMPOUND set is working same muscle group with different exercises back to back, (bicep curls/hammer curls)

You have agonist and antogonist supersets so you can do (bench-row) but also (flyes-bench) its more common to be called pre exhausting but he wasnt wrong about that

@@Bynasf so 3 sets (60s tut) vs 4 sets (45s tut). Which do you think is better? Overall it makes sense that the 3 sets are better cause you have those 5 extra minutes of rest and thus spend less time in the gym. But 10 second tut for 18 sets is the same as 3 sets for 60s tut so 3 sets wins and 2 sets of 90 seconds tut too

Personally i never tried supersets coz i'm not really fond of them. But i can say that Drop sets are good for hypertrophy and strength improvement similar to progressive overload.

Yes dont know where those studies are conducted. Muscle only grows if you gradually increase resistance. No matter you do drop/super or normal sets.

My wrestling coach had us do drop sets and within the first month i gain soo much strength and moved up one weight class because i was building insane strength and muscle. I had to say also that i would consider them noobie gains.

Actually there’s a study comparing One drop set to 3 normal sets, concluding that the drop set gave about the same gains. Bloodflow restriction training is also one of the best methods for hypertrophy, and in theory drop sets could give a similar pump and effect (according to science pump has huge correlations with hypertrophy). But yes, drop sets are very time efficient, and a great way to wrap up your workout.

Btw you can technically go past failure. Do a set to failure, then try to rep some out by cheating (safely) or not going the full range of motion. These are absolutely good for hypertrophy

That's because the muscle is small, relatively speaking. You can't get much blood in there compared to say, your fucking leg. Doesn't mean it's any better to train it that way.

Drop sets do help build muscle more.. especially at high weights When you carry heavy weights and fail at last rep, it's because your muscle fibers have been activated and there aren't enough to do the last rep.. so when you decrease the weight.. you also activate the unused muscle fibers which helps stimulate the whole muscle

No they don't. If you do 3 sets, with 2 minutes rest in-between, with the same weight, time under tension is identical to a dropset, dropping the weight twice in between, provided you do the same number of reps.

@@ifreezer6674 You're conflating time between reps and time between sets. 50 sets of 1 won't be as effective as 5 sets of 10, sure. That isn't relevant to this. Spreading out all of your reps over the whole day isn't even vaguely comparable to resting for a minute or two between sets.

@@dog-jk2hn It does seem relevant to me. 5x10reps over a day is bad. 5x10reps over an hour is better. 5x10reps over 15 minutes is even better. Therefore, putting more reps in a smaller timeframe is more effective. This is purpose of drop set, extending time under tension in a smaller time frame

Example of that with dropset would be: 3x10 in ten minutes, then 1x20 drop set in 2 minutes. That seems a lot better to me

The only downside of dropsets is that it doesn’t increase strength as opposed to normal sets, since progressive overload can’t be as effective. I recommend to use dropsets lightly, only including it as a final set in your workouts.

I always do excercises moderate to heavy weight with the traditional 3x8-10 or 4x8-10 until failure. Then I’ll do drop sets after regular sets on same exercise until I can’t even do 2 reps at super super lightweight. That way I fully worked out all the fast and slow twitch muscle fibers while also exercising for not only strength by starting with mod-heavy, but also for endurance by finishing with those fast drop sets. Only workout each body part twice a week that way. It’s good at shocking the muscle.

Dropsets are most definitely great especially when you are going for intensity. Its good especially when you want to start leaning out. The pump is amazing too

Dropsets help with strength and muscle fiber recruitment so are beneficial.Supersets you train twice as fast amd the muscle responds differently if you train a different muscle group so you get a better pump and more definition

I usually go for superset as it saves time. Usually finish my workout with in 30-40 min max 💯 but rest hardly lasts for 20 seconds.

If you wanna maximize weight loss if you’re trying to lose fat, try doing 30 min of cardio before doing that same workout and you’ll lose crazy fat. That’s what I’ve been doing

A superset is performing one exercise then working on the opposite muscle or a different muscle. Example: Dumbell Press, then Dumbell Rows or Squats then calf raises. Will it not be considered a compound set where you engage the same muscle but with a different exercise with no weight changes. As demonstrated for example, Overhead press then doing Lateral Raises. Correct me if I am wrong.

We do supersets at football training because it help build muscular insurance. Light weight for max reps then switch to a different exercise same format.

I've seen better results from dropsets than from training heavy. I've been doing PPL twice a week, pyramidal sets with reps at 15-12-10-8, then at the end of last set, drop down half of the weight and go to failure.
