Top 3 most common Dryer not heating (Quick Check) Easy step-by-step guide to figure out why your dryer is not heating and how to do a heating element replacement.
In this video I go step-by-step through not only how to replace the heating element but how to check to see if you need to replace the heating element. Many times it’s just the thermal fuse before the heating element that needs to be replaced. There’s also a common issue with the power supply not being corrected going to the dryer making the dryer come on and not heat.
Although this is a Maytag bravo 300 quiet series there’s a lot of different brands including Kenmore Whirlpool and others that use this exact same heating element and a very similar breakdown to get to the heating element.
I’m sorry the video so long but I try to go over all the top reasons and an electric dryer will not heat.
Hopefully this will be a good help to diagnose and fix not only a Maytag bravo dryer but several other brands that have this exact same issues.

I never knew the dryers fan and drum would work if the breaker is only half tripped. That is what my issue was exactly. Left side of outlet had 120v and right side had 0v. Reset the breaker to re-establish 240v and I now have heat. THANK YOU !!! I am very grateful.

Thank you very much for creating this video and sharing your knowledge! Turns out, I had to change out the heating element. Took me a while, BUT the dryer is working perfectly! I also spent a lot of time cleaning the lint out of the inside of the machine. It was shocking to see how much link had accumulated in addition to finding one pen, one penny, and one long screw. Harmony has been restored.

This is the second great video you have made that helped me. $22 and following your video and my heating element has been replaced. You make it so easy. And at the very end I was closing the top down and dropped the clip that the top sits on inside the machine. Had to take the front back off 🤦🏽‍♀️

Very helpful video. Did everything as instructed... The dryer is getting full power, I've got continuity with the heating element, The thermostat and the thermal fuse but the dryer still won't heat. I'm at my wits end on what the problem is.Please help

Belt goes GROOVES AGAINST THE DRUM. That's the only thing I had to look up while watching this awesome video.

Most excellent! Made the work easy peasy. Had two issues. A shorted out heating element and a semi frozen idler pulley for the drum belt. My dryer also had an additional flywheel on the end of the motor shaft which made the access to the screws for the blower housing more difficult to remove. Thanks so much for the video!!

10 hours of work and replacing almost every part that had to do with the heating process.... the breaker was half tripped but showed as 100% not tripped (and the dryer was turning on just not heating) so I never thought to reset the breaker. Thanks for solving my issue!

Thanks for your video and sharingng your knowledge. I do have the exact same dryer in the video. I replaced the thermo fuse too many time with in pass 2 weeks. I already open the machine: clean up all all pipe in the dryer. I also replaced the hight limit and high limit cut off fuse, heating element &thermtistor but my dryer still over heating. As of right now, I removed the vent hose in the back and let me flow freely. Please advise what else can be check/replace. If i select normal heat option, sure enough the thermal fuse will pop. I use the laser scan to measure temp off the air came out. I does reach up to 180+ and I have to open the door to the machine cut off. I'll replace the heating element again, and all sensor to see if same problem ( hot hot and make cloth wrinkle).

this may just be my issue, but my dryer is making a loud roaring noise not from the wheels but from the blower wheel, is there anyway to replace that part or do i have to order the whole blower assembly

@@WasherDryerMoney I took my time and didn't rush it the element itself was blown. I followed this video and it went fine. Thank you very much for publishing this video. I will say your electrical terminogy is off though. A circuit is closed when you hear the beep for continuity on your tester, it is open if you don't and open means the circuit is broken open either by a switch or a broken wire or component, a short is what happens when part of a circuit melts open and welds itself to another location. Other than that this video was really a good mechanical breakdown and fix of this dryer. Mine is working perfectly now just for the cost of my time and 35 bucks for the element kit. 😁

hi, I do have the same dryer in the video and my thermo fuse keep pop after 30 mins use. I think my thermostat not working right. My cloth wrinkle alot and I"ll order the same element kit in your link. I bought a kid but the thermostat are different. I doesnt have the extra sensor that connect to the. Thank you. Could use perhaps a magnetized phillips head screwdriver. I replaced the idler wheel and the movement of dryer apparently sped heating element coil break. With drum off replaced drum support wheels too. Belt was good shape, verified spare from kit is same length ( slightly narrower belt though ). Good video.

I've got a maytag bravo xl dryer that wont heat. I tested heating element for continuity and there was none. I replaced it and decided to just do the thermostat, thermal fuse, thermistor control. Its starting to heat up a bit but still does not seem as if it is heating up like normal. I'm testing the new heating element now its showing continuity but also shows grounded...could that be the problem?

@@AS-uj2gm I was able to fix my problem..it was the heating element that went out. The new one ended up having one of its connections grounded onto the housing which caused it to continue to still show grounded n stayed warm. I just fixed that n it still would not heat up. I tested the voltage on the outlet...showed not getting enough voltage because the breaker tripped. Flipped the breaker back..everything has been working good now.

So my dryer was doing where it wouldn't spin up or blow air and keep saying check lint screen, cleaned the whole thing out, I looked up other videos and decided to check the thermal fuse, I have a multimeter but couldn't find it so I used an old school power tester and well much like a solenoid I jump started the dryer and it worked fine for as long as it was left on. Turned it off came back to the same issue. I think its the thermal fuse but before I had tested that I reached in the upper portion of the back and got a tiny shock. To anyone having the issue check that sensor first, seems like it can pop pretty easy. Hope this helps
