I had a big problem/fear about loosing my job and not being able to find a new one, especially because I’m old and transgender. This prevented me from transitioning for a few years, till the pain was just too great. Fortunately, I did transition at work with no I’ll affects. I am very lucky and happy! Thanks for the video!

I'm concerned about losing the privilege of not being terribly worried about my safety in public. There's a difference between walking around a city as a man and as a woman, or as someone who people perceive as being transgender.

I don't even know if I could call it a privilege, but what I'm afraid of is to lose the close bond to my female friends, or any new female people I get to know. That I'm expected to be less open about my emotions and such. Of course I'll always try to be my best person, but sometimes I fear that women will be more hesitant or even fearful towards me bc of me being a guy. But well...it's not gonna stop me from moving forward, because being true to myself is more important to me than people trusting what they think is another woman.

I've come to recognize that I'm in a relatively privileged position, for a trans person. I have a supportive family, I'm not likely to face discrimination or violence in the area where I live, I'm self-employed, and since I'm aroace I don't have to worry about navigating intimate relationships. I'm also nonbinary agender, so I may not have to transition to the same extent as a binary trans person, though that remains to be seen. That said, there are certain privileges I will never have anyway. I'm a member of a racial minority, legally disabled, and neurodivergent. Even though I was AMAB, I stand only 5'2" and am shorter than my father and my younger brother. The way I see it, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I am Elijah of Malachi 4:5-6 and that means any discrepancies in the Bible are decided by me. Acts 3:22-23 says it will come to pass that anyone that fails to listen to me will be utterly destroyed from among the people. Mathew19:12 Eunuchs that are born that way are transgender. Eunuchs made that way by others were abused (it doesn't happen to everyone that is abused). Those that choose to live like Eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven are bisexual people that choose to partners of the same sex but opposite in gender. Gender is determined IN YOUR BRAIN and AT BIRTH. Male or female is determined in your brain. Anyone who says different won't be here much longer. I have an identical twin sister that is female in gender. I am male in gender. By the way, anyone teaching the LIE of monetary tithing, collecting money for ministering in any way whatsoever, including worship groups, won't be here much longer either. Malachi 2 proves Malachi 3:8-11 is prophetic instruction for the thieving church leaders to return the money they were never supposed to take and God will end Covid and throw open the floodgates of heaven. All major churches around the world have known this since August of 2020 but THEY LOVE MONEY SO MUCH they intentionally CHOSE TO KILL everyone with Covid instead. P.S. The 2 witnesses are righteousness and judgement, not actual people. There is no ONE antichrist - made up by people that worship money. World peace is coming. Prophets said my preaching will lead to an universal income and wealth redistribution through the banks. The rapture taught in the fake churches is all LIES. Being taken is not good as Jesus comes back to rule. God's people are caught up spiritually. All evil and corruption will soon cease to exist. James 5:2 The wealth of the rich will only be used as evidence to burn their flesh. You cannot be a Christian, sit on all kinds of money, watch people suffer an starve in the world, and choose to do nothing about it. And the soul does NOT enter the body until birth. The Bible says that being alive requires "the breath of life." It requires breathing. God does NOT consider a fetus living. God is pro-choice.

I'm amazed at how accurate your observations are. As you mention, dysphoria fluctuates. There are good and bad days and days when it is triggered socially. I tell myself that a mediocre life is better than one which could equate to self-destruction. Sometimes I think that my standards for what it means to have a healthy life are distorted to a point where I overvalue what I currently have and undervalue what I could actually have. I find myself questioning if my state of thinking can be changed so that I can view life in a positive light. I think the idea of shifting perspective is perpetuated so much in our mainstream consciousness that we believe that all our thoughts are within our control. PS, I picked up your book a couple days ago and have listened to it twice so far.

I definitely was scared of losing privileges and status before I transitioned. Worry about keeping a marriage that failed together and wondering how would I support my son. As I posted before I had cluster headaches because of the internal battle. When my spouse and I decided to split that's when I decided I was going to transition. Now after being out since January and transiting over the summer I'm finally in a good place mentality and health wise. In the end I haven't lost any privileges and because of my experience and skillset My school district is determine not to let me go! It's scary about privileges before you transition but once you made progress in becoming you the focus is shifted to being the best version of you! Love you're by weekly post Dr. Z♥💯 P.S I finally changed my profile pic on Google I'm no longer scared or hiding! 😁

I'm more worried about being treated like crap after I transition. I'm FtM. And though it's not as common, I'm worried I'll get treated like crap because I'm presenting male (having male privilege and whatnot). Both by trans and cis people. I'm not sure if it's even legit, but I've seen it a lot online how people react to trans men, mainly in the LGBTQ+ community. (cis are worse, I know. But vitriol from your own community seems to hurt more.)

I find that I haven't really given up many privileges, other than male. However, as I present more feminine, I find I've actually _gained_ the privilege of respect from others. I find men opening doors for me, other women complimenting me on what I do with my nails or what I'm wearing. It really helps to alleviate the dysphoria when I'm given compliments and give compliments back; to be admired when presenting as my true self. As a male, I was generally ignored and faded into the background unless I could perform certain tasks, which I despised. I've gladly given up that privilege, because it never truly served me, especially these last few months.

Did you feel invisible in public as a male? I do. That's something that will probably change when I start presenting in public and it might be a hard thing to get used to. I don't like being looked at. Weird I know.

Oftenly privileged people cannot see the ways in which they are privileged When you lose your privileges, you will notice a lot of things you took for normal are in fact privileges you had but never noticed they were privileges. For example, men will interrupt you while you speak more often, men will often not take a "no" from you, you will not feel safe anymore in a taxi, and the list of gendered male privileges goes on and on.

Wonderful video and something that I always wanted to find out more about! For me, it's the fear of losing my good (male) looks. Not a model by any shot, but I get complimented on it often enough. Dating was fairly smooth-sailing as well (besides my personal issues). I don't think I've overcome this fear yet so I don't have much to add. But Dr. Z's right as my dysphoria I suppose isn't THAT severe, hence why I thought I might be able to live through the dysphoria. But I guess it was severe enough for me to have transitioned.

Great topic! I already consider myself to be a not so attractive male so how could it get any worse transitioning? Since I've accepted that I am transgender I have taking care of myself and just caring more in general than I ever have in my life. It's my pre hormone preparation. Losing weight, getting into better shape, growing my hair (damn you receding hairline 😒) instead of just buzzing it off all the time, and skin care have all become a thing for me now. Losing my job is a huge concern. The plan is to get out of as much debt as possible before I'm out at work. My amazing wife tells me to just do it and we will deal with the consequences as they come. Yeah, I've lived as a male for 41 years and I know how to navigate this life but it's not what I want. So much of what I do and how i present myself is just to cover up what I feel inside from the rest of the world. For so long I resigned myself to the fact that transition for me was impossible but now I see a pathway. I'd rather die regretting the things I've done instead of lamenting what I did not.

@Kira I want to remind you that if you know how to navigate this life in gender assigned at birth you will know how to in your true gender. Sure there will be a learning curve and things to adapt to , but the main aspects; drive, tenacity, ambition, charisma, mindset, go attitude etc will be there and if anything will be enhanced because now you are even more confident in yourself.

@@spellsong666 Isn't HIMS just finasteride plus minoxidil? Finasteride is actually one of the more commonly used T-blockers, but it's also prescribed to cis men to regrow hair. It works the same way either way, but when it's used to regrow hair, the feminizing effects are considered side effects.

@@Kira-zm7vy I've done a lot of the same things you have, only it was losing weight that led to my realizing I still had underlying body image issues, which I later learned were gender dysphoria after I came out. I had also started shaving my head in my 20s because I knew I would eventually lose my hair, and I later realized it might have been due to unrecognized gender dysphoria, because I did not want to age into the body of an old man. Unfortunately it's probably too late for me to grow my hair out anymore, due to years of depression and elevated cortisol levels. Hopefully you'll have better luck with that than I will.

OMG doctor, if I had seen this video in ~May you will have being able to destruct me in my comfort zone 😅 The two privileges you had nailed it. But happily I was been able to understand that I will neglect me all for others, everything always for others, and if I finded a girlfriend she probably will only likes me because of what I wasn't (well actually happened in the past). So after this epiphany I just gived up the first privilege. Once I give it up, give up my aesthetic privilege was inevitable. I accepted that I was pretty in a feminine way, and being pretty for the others is for what? Being wanted like a meal in a fast food restaurant? Like a lunch? There's the positive side of it, but only when we do it healthier and for our great will I think. Now I hadn't anymore of them. My actual privileges that I'm fearing to lose is the a little about my security privilege (been able to walk in the streets and not being attacked, going to bathrooms and not being humiliated, etc) and my privilege with the parents of my girlfriend (because apparently they want a heteronormative relationship to her). Despite of it I hadn't any insecurities anymore on losing privileges. In the reality my production, intelectual, creativity, all my potentials grows imensally when I'm on my transition process. When I stop, I barely can do anything. I start really to look like someone with bipolarity. Thank you so much for doing this public service, I'll never forget you 🙏💕

I've never been attractive, except to certain fetishists interested in severely overweight, very hairy men... So I've only things to gain there :) Career, yes. But not because men get preferential treatment over women. If anything the reverse is the case. But there is still a lot of discrimination against transgender people (and indeed anything that's not "normal") in the workspace. I'm not afraid to lose the privilege of being passed over for promotion because I'm a man, which I have experienced in the past in places where women got preferential treatment "for diversity".
