Hunting around dumpster diving and looking for scrap, we came across a really spectacular find! You may not realize how much you can make from scrapping cast iron pipes. Allow me to explain!
Wire stripper I use: amzn.to/3jrO2iS
The motorized stripper: amzn.to/3y0JMuQ
The wire cutters I like: amzn.to/2T6j3OW
This is the cheaper version: amzn.to/2SwrYsB
And here are those grips I recommend: amzn.to/2QCJmYl
(If you make a purchase on amazon through the links above, a small amount of what amazon makes on the sale is shared with me. It's a great way to help support my channel, at no additional cost to you. Even if you buy something other than my tool recommendations!)
Please like/share this video if you enjoyed it, and subscribe to thubprint!

Some people pump iron in the gym - Thub pumps cast iron in a dumpster! The major difference is that gyms cost you money, dumpsters can be a source of money! Great stuff Thub! 😁👍

Nice find on the cast iron sewer pipe. I used to work with a plumber about 40 years ago, we used to take these out of basement of people's houses and replace them with plastic piping. You got a nice lead find there. The lead that held the pipes together. I remember we used to pour the lead in the hub, when we put new cast iron pipe in some people's houses not all.

🥰 every time I see one of your scrapping videos it makes me want to get out there and find more of my own treasures. I recently found a plumbing shop to frequent recently and now I know that with old cast iron pipes you need to break the loose connections because they were sealed with wads of soft lead😁 Also what a great idea, using a railroad nail as a cold chisel!!!

WOW KZfaq just got worse, 7 hours late on notifications WTF! Edit: After watching great haul and even better information on the lead, reason I watch your channel is of course the content but what keeps me watching is you are genuine and informative. My recent outing brought me a Spyderco Endura 4 pocket knife, 5 pounds of brass and 135 pounds of low grade stainless, and loads of aluminum soda cans.... I didn't scrap any of it yet but just stored it for now...waiting till It adds up to a big haul. Thanks for the double feature (two uploads so close together) have a great weekend.

Just this past week they are building 8 new homes one town over from me I kid you not everyone when I say the electricians and plumbers that are contracted for the plumbing and electricity for each of the eight homes is not shy on tossing number one copper wire brass and copper fittings I have weighed the bare bright copper and it is just shy over 600 lb minus about 30 lbs for the plastic and the jacket on the copper for myself it is the biggest score in over 25 years my absolute biggest score was about 17 years ago where me and my brother was dumpster diving and we got over 600 lb copper and brass plumbing all clean and we got the biggest check to date which was over $3,000 I am determined to beat my personal record I have not took it in to the scrap yard yet I am waiting to see if the prices will go back up and when it does daddy is going to score big time happy hunting everyone and always have fun.

That pipe was in terrible condition. They probably had a lot of leaks from it. Also, consider that the pipe is a lot lighter than when it was new. The walls of the pipe have rusted away, with running water carrying the rust away so the pipe gets thinner and thinner. When those pipes are installed, there is a fibrous material called Oakum that is pushed into the gap the 2 pipes form, then it is pounded in. This seals the bottom of the joint so that molten lead can be poured in, and no lead gets into the area where the waste flows. I've seen under buildings where plumbers have replaced some pipe, and left the old pipe in the crawl space. It's a lot easier than dragging it out.

M8 you're an amazing Canadian junky ( junky is referred to people who deal with junk steel and or metals , not drug addicts . ) What you have is called 💩 poopy lead , aka plumbers lead . Did you learn to close your mouth as you strike the cast iron pipe , so you may not end up recycling undigested food left behind in the pipe? I learned that lesson the hard way mouth close eye protection and strike it. Keep up the food work. God bless y'all.
