Yeah, it's a lot of work man :) It was easier with brown clay. But as you know we can use it again and again, so that's fine. I couldn't find such clay anywhere, so that was the only solution. To tell the true I found kitty litter in the local shop and it contained bentonite clay, but the green sand was already ready :) Are you sure about 3%? I understand that special bentonite clay powder is pure and so on but it can be not enough. Anyway, you'll see the result when you mix it with sand.

$28 for 3kg is quite a lot. I just bought 5kg min.95% bentonite powder for $3.

Yeah! In the open-cast mine near my city they extract manganese ore. There are a lot of bentonite clay. It's very bad for nature but good for those who need such clay :)

Hi mate :) Yeah, that's true about long time. KZfaq is a strange thing and now (in my case) I don't see any reasons to hurry with videos :) I see you also decided to take some vocation. Slovenian mountains should be the grate place to relax not only in the winter but in the summer as well :) I hope the weather is fine because in Ukraine it's too hot now :) of course except our western regions where we have the Carpathian mountains. :) There the temperature is always little better. For me here melting and casting is something very uncomfortable now. +38 and I should wear all my protective clothing :) Hope to see new videos from you soon... :) P.S. Your idea about melting bentonite green sand could be ideal for youtube :) If I need to make some glass I'll try it :):):)

Hi! Thanks for sharing buddy :) That's a great idea to use flower pot (as I understand it's made of some type of clay, brown or some other). Silica sand should be much better than river sand. The fraction is smaller and it should be very pure :) Advantages of using soil are discussable. Soil is a mixture of different organic and non-organic substances, so it can be a little bit tricky to use it :) I like experimentation and for me it's very interesting to know how this mixture will work during casting metal. Bentonite in powder is even better. If you know where to get it and it's not expensive for you then you can do it. In my case, I've just found a place where I can find bentonite clay in nature :)

В карьере у нас на поверхности лежит :) Вообще там марганец добывают, так что глина эта для них - грязь по которой не возможно ходить и ездить кроме как на гусеничном транспорте или на вездеходах :). Я как понимаю она наверное на большой глубине находится. Ну на глубине 2-3 метра я коричневую копал, так что эта поглубже думаю. :) В карьере потому как все перерыто сложно сказать как глубоко она была. Это получился классический green sand. А вообще можно думаю любую глину использовать, только одной больше другой меньше нужно. P.S. Многие советуют использовать наполнитель для кошачьего туалета. Я недавно увидел в магазине от нового производителя. Почитал состав и действительно основное это - бентонитовая глина :)
