Is there ever going to be a chance to open source this code so everyone can benefit of it? This is the best example of live depth scanning I've ever seen.

I can't wait to see more! I have never seen dynamic scanning software before, all the programs I use would not be able to deal with any motion like this. This is some exciting stuff!

Currently at Facebook merged into Oculus. But you'll have to break in.

So the Canonical Model looks like it builds up what's seen at time/frame 0

I think the company behind this (surreal vision) was sold to Oculus for probably big bucks. Oculus was purchased by Facebook. I hope it answers your question.

Now that's how to scan, no more having to stand still, if you can find a way to get texture mapping happening too... wow.

It probably wouldn't take much to capture albedo alongside geometry since they are 1-to-1 (see the top center image). This technique also provides the ability to remove scene lighting since the object can freely rotate relative to its surroundings.
