What's the point of calling this one a "reboot" when every new Dynasty Warriors is already a reboot of the previous one? These games are still just retellings of the same Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel.

They "try" to keep the same gameplay systems, player characters and their weapons, consistent through the series, unless they have a good idea off a DLC weapon to reuse in a later entry.

It's certainly going to be interesting. Since this is the second major revamp in a row. Last time they really tried to switch up the formula was DW6, which they then panicked and course corrected into the more traditional DW7/8.

DW7 wasn't entirely "traditional" though, as it also signaled a massive change in the approach to tone and story telling. In regards to these variables, DW6 was actually more traditional than 7

@@zakariariahiidrissi1406I'm all for an open-world dynasty warriors - I just don't koei is capable of pulling it off. The world felt empty and most of the things you did outside of major battles didn't feel like it mattered. Then you got the hook that makes castle sieges pointless; you'd just run straight to the enemy commander. The world needs to be interesting to traverse with fun things to do in between main missions.

finally, the upgraded from PS2 level graphics in DW9 to PS3 level graphics in DW:O.

No Ps3 game had this much amount of NPC characters on screen, etc. Graphics involve those as well, as not polygon count.

Definitely needed to drop the numbers. Was always awkward to keep track of them between regions since the Japanese versions were one number smaller.

It baffles me that another studio hasn’t tried to make a better version of these games. None of the characters or setting are original IP (aside from their specific designs) and the bar is pretty low for gameplay and graphics in most regards. The only others that gives it a shot is Marvelous, but I’m not sure they are much better than Omega Force.
