Love your work on this. How so far is the engine running if you still have it? How much KMs did you put on it, or better yet how hard did you try to push it? :)

Yeah, it's honestly not the best engine for such a job, as there are many better engines for a E36 which would make much more power with the same afford , like a M42 or M44... but it was there, and I wanted to try it

Hello man. Am trying to do a similar build I would like to know how you did it? For example how you mounted the supercharger and pulleys.

I did make a bracket out of Aluminium profiles. It's mounted to the Intake support and a hole near the alternator. I used the original pulleys, just with a extra pulley on the bracket...

What about with idle valve? M43 has the valve on throttle body the m40? how it replaces it? I want to put this manifold on my m43
@gintrapper Жыл бұрын
Early M43 to '96 have almost the same Idle valve like M40, the later on the throttle body. I have a early model, so not tried to convert, just connected some hoses to make it fit, but most likely they work the same, as the amount of air needed is the same, and both are valves with pwm modulation. BTW. if you use a M40 intake from another car than a E36, it most likely will have a hole in the intake for the original M40 idle valve so you are kind of stuck with that...

Is that intake manifold from the m40 engine? Did you also had to put the fuel injectors and throttle from the m40? Because i also want to put a supercharger into my m43 in a compact and i don't know how to change the intake my compact is from 97
@gintrapper2 жыл бұрын
M40 intake and M40 throttle but it isn't plug and play, even thouh the M40 Intake will bolt straight to your engine. There are several Version of the M40 intake/throttle. I have brought some, and took a E36 unit for the build, the E30 ones should do the trick, too, but use a different aragement for the idle control, as the control valve is directly pluged into the intake on these. You most likely have to use other injectors, but bigger injectors are required anyway if you want to make it right. Using a risinng fuel rate pressure regulator isn't the proper solution for getting enough fuel.
@savedemperor80242 жыл бұрын
@@gintrapper So the e36 throttle will work with the m40 intake? I have the intake from a e30 m40 but don't have the throttle though And the idle control has to be modified as well? because i didn't quite understand it How much bigger fuel injectors are needed so that my eaton m45 would give the most power? Also is it possible to make it as close to be to a factory look without any extreme modifications? Like for example the fuel injectors could work with the factory ECU because i don't have much knowledge about it And i saw that in my m43 there's a small hose plugged into the factory intake and the m40 doesn't have such thing will it need to be drilled? Wouldn't be any problem for you to send me some few pics of how you installed the eaton supercharger and how the intake looks like? That would give me some idea how to get it done Also thank you for replying
@gintrapper2 жыл бұрын
@@savedemperor8024 No, the e36 throttle won't fit the M40 intake, unless you make a adapterplate. There was a M40 in the early e36, I took the intake and throttle from that model, as the M40 Intake from a E30 have the Idle control valve pluged in directly in the Intake. You can use the M40 intake from a E30, but you'll better use the M40 throttle E30 as well...
@savedemperor80242 жыл бұрын
@@gintrapper Ok then I'll get the m40 throttle as well also what brand fuel injectors did you got? And there's a small hose coming from the injectors attached to the factory intake which the m40 one doesn't have so how did you do that? Can it be just drilled for it or something?

Awesome build! Looking to make one myself. Why did you choose the m40 intake though? And is the supercharger the same one out of the c180/c200 kompressor? Thanks :)
@gintrapper3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the supercharger is different, bigger than the one on the older C180/C200, as these are eaton M45, if I recall that right... I choose the M40 intake because it's shorter and thus gives you more room for the Supercharger, but if you install the charger at an angle, almost upright, you should find room for it with the standart intake, but it's tight... maybe the M45 gives a bit more room... also I did build a water to air intercooler, which I haven't put in yet, the M40 intake leaves room for that, the standard, I'm pretty sure, don't....
@batates743 жыл бұрын
@@gintrapper awesome! Thanks man. Does the M40 intake bolt straight onto the M43 block though? And were you able to keep the air conditioning and power steering pumps working?
@gintrapper3 жыл бұрын
@@batates74 Hi. yes the M40 intake bolt straight onto the M43 head, but depending on which year your M43 is, the fuel injectors won't fit (the later ones with air inlet have bigger holes in the inlet than the older ones... so won't fit in M40 intake without modifications). And the M43 engine ventilation on the camcover will foul the inlet. I got the tube out of the Cover and welded up the hole with a bit of aluminium, then I bored and threadet the outlet from above and screwed in a hose connection... The car doesn't have aircon, but it wouldn't be a Problem to run aircon without modification... power steering pump still is in the same location and works fine with the longer belt... so yes, no prob with aircon and power steering...

@gintrapper11 ай бұрын
Hi, it does have blow off to the intake side of the supercharger, and really needs it! The backpressure with closed throttle is high and bad for the SC... it goes from the aluminium tube to the sucking section of the SC... could be seen on a bigger screen around 35sec under the rubber hose which bend to the SC outlet
@alainxavier11 ай бұрын

@gintrapper3 жыл бұрын
According to the map sensor fitted about 0.8 to 1.0 Bar overboost... a bit difficult to say, as it shows the pressure with a small delay, and as the supercharger is in front of the throttle, you got peaks when you close the throttle on higher rpms, but should be around 0.8 and 1Bar, highest I saw was 1.27, but this was due to closing throttle on high rpm's for sure
