To be fair that was shot in Barrowfield (which lies at the back of Celtic Park) which was universally recognised as probably Glasgow's worst square mile, and Belgrove. They shot in Belgrove because the old Belgrove Hotel was a notorious flophouse for those poor men who destroyed themselves with drink and they'd be pretty much guaranteed to find someone drinking Buckfast in the street. The whole area is unrecognisable now. The Commonwealth Games saw the flattening of the whole area, and to be honest it is not missed.

also, i remember working in a shop where the customers would use all sort of slang for bucky - a bottle o juice, soup, bring the hoose doon juice, tonic, vino, and all sorts of other patter it was hilarious.

Growing up in the Scottish highlands we used to drink Buckie for a cheap night! This was when we were young teens - buy a big bottle for five quid, get pished as a fart, giggle and wake up with no hangover! I only have to look at a bottle now and I get sick!

I remember a newspaper article, could've been around this time (Evening Times or Daily Record) - the abbot of Buckfast Abbey came up on a fact-finding mission to the Buckfast Triangle, and expressed his 'shock' that people were not using his wine "for tonic purposes".

I once took an African guy to the Bellgrove in my taxi. He said he needed a break from his Mrs and was checking in there. I asked him if he knew what it was and he said he did and wasn't bothered as he couldn't afford a hotel room.

When times get really tough, it's Belair hair spray or meths mixed with milk; That's where the white line around the lips comes from. By the way name is ....and I'm not an alcoholic.

Buckfast cheap!.It now costs £5 per bottle which is dearer than 84% of the wine sold in tesco,asda etc.. .Buckfast is the drink of choice because it is the only one that gives you a alchohol rush,sugar rush and caffeine rush at the same time!.

In Glasgow at that period I would have said El Dorado was more popular than Buckfast. ALthough that is no longer the case. Quick question though, is that Stuart Cosgrove that is presenting this? It really sounds like him and the appearance is similar.
