Hey RitasEastas!
Happy Memorial Day!! This is just a quick video for my honeybun cake. Since I decided not to cook anything complicated, I had to make a dessert. I think you'll like this cinnamony treat that only takes 30mins to cook and about 15mins to prep.
For the cake:
1 yellow cake
1 cup sour cream
3/4 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
For the sugary mix:
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
For the glaze:
1.5 cups powdered sugar
4 tbsp whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

I've tried another recipe on this same cake using real butter rather than vegetable oil and actually liked this veg.oil version better. Anyway I love this ladies personality she has a kind, sweet downhome southern style to her and I think she would be a blast to hang out with. Thanks Rita for this great delicious honey bun cake recipe!

A rubber spatula will clean the batter out of the bowl so you will have all the batter for the top layer. Put the batter over the cinnamon mixture in big spoonfulls in about 6 or 8 places to spread it easier. Looks scrumptious, gonna make this for sure! Thanks for the recipe.

you left about 1/4 cup in that bowl ...use a silicone spatula to scrape your bowls , you will clean it every time ♥♥♥

The 9*13 is a perfect size pan. This is what I do for the top. Put the top layer on in dollops of 3 across and about 4 down. That is what worked for me for the top spreading.

Hey @Randa! Thanku so much for watching and commenting. This vid was a while ago and I've perfected it for myself since then. One box is really fine bcus it's really not a must that all of that cinnamon layer is covered , I'm just a perfectionist, lol! 2boxes makes a LOT of additional batter and you only need a small amount on top to cover, so I started doing my bottom layer then just adding a little milk to remaining batter to thin it out and that has worked beautifully for me.🥰

Hey @Sherry. If you mean before adding the glaze, 10 to 15mins is good. It doesn't have to cool really. I do that to allow glaze to thicken. Thanku for watching and commenting🥰

Love your channel. I use two cake mixes one for the top layer and the other for the bottom layer . It seems to work better for me. And what batter I have leftover I make cupcakes or a small pound cake. I love this recipe.

I was using a silicone spatula to stir my cake and I noticed that the batter will just slide off, I just scooped up some batter and let it slide onto that top layer of cinnamon and I was able to lay it in a way that connecting the batter was super easy. Btw....I need subbies for my baking addiction. It is so much fun!😋😊😁 Thanks for the video. Yours looks the yummiest of the choices available.

Hey @Smooth! Thanks for watching and commenting! This one is a couple years old and I've finally perfected it, lolol! I started thining the top cake mix out w/a tablespoon of milk and that helps a lot with the spreading! I also stopped stressing about it bcus it turns out fine either way, lol! 🥰🤣😂🥰

I made the honey bun cake. what i did was move the bowl all around as i was pouring out the cake mix. It did very well. I did not have to try to spread out the batter.

I cook this cake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes and I don't get a crack at the top. I also add one more egg to give me a little more liquid for the batter. I've been cooking this cake for 3 years. Everyone loves it. There are usually no leftovers.

I really appreciate your reference to the military. comming from a military family it is very much appreciated however appreciateing awall is not as these people cost military lives. when you are in the military you have to depend on your fellow soldiers for your life and if someone is awahl people can die. like your vidios.

Good morning sis I just watched your video on the honeybun cake . What I do when I have similar recipes I use a slotted spatula try drizzling the rest of the batter on from top to bottom it should make your spreading easier then don’t lift your utensil just spread it back and forth start with your corners first they seem to be the hardest then just spread sis just like you are icing a layer cake . I pray I’m not over stepping just a suggestion . 🙏🏽💙🙏🏽

Only tip I can say is use more cake mix. Instead of one box, use two and just pour a think layer over the brown sugar. Orrr add a little milk to thin the cake mix out so it poured easily over the brown sugar.
