On another channel, she took the papers that were eco printed by pressure and brushed them with rusty water. The leaves that were light suddenly showed a black pattern. You might see if you get results with your flower prints. Loved how some of these turned out. Thanks for trying different papers. Think I’ll try using my lighter watercolor paper for this. It’s fall so not as many plant’s available right now though.

The paper is a huge factor! I’ve done tests with the same leaves on several different brands of watercolour paper and different brands pull out different colour results ie: one brand brought out more green tones and another more yellows. Love watching your results and your different techniques. Long videos don’t bother me, do what ever you feel comfortable with. Play on girl, play on😃

I have been watching your videos on echo printing which I have never heard of before. (Beautiful !). In this video you are using the iron and I have also watched you demonstrate the press. Have you done a video on the oven method and the stove top method? I curious how it actually looks. Step by step. I love your work and it has inspired me to give it a try. Thank you from North Carolina

Hi, I have done both the oven and stove top methods too. Basically, try various ways to see what you prefer. For me, it depends upon my mood and time. Em

Great testing Em!!! Paper does make a difference. I find sketch paper works best for me when I eco dye in a pot of boiling water. I did try your iron method last fall, but did not have success. Ironing board was too soft and a piece of marble was too hard. I do not have a T-shirt press, so what would you recommend?

Hi Laurie, You can actually purchase a heating pad separate from a heat press on Amazon www.amazon.com/s?k=heat+press+pad&crid=2HY5GDXGRV6NZ&sprefix=heat+press+pad%2Caps%2C239&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_14 in different sizes. That is what I use when not on the heat press bed. Water doesnt' hurt it and it protects the work surface. Also, get some heat resistant sheets or maybe parchment paper to put on top of the pad:-) Or you can get a silicone pad instead an put that you your marble to make it softer. I find the iron method is good for tests as in this video, but for serious sessions I too use boiling water, the oven or the heat press.

Thank you Em. I am going to buy the pad to test this spring. Don't know how things are going to be this year. Looks like it is ok where you live, but here in Iowa it is still below freezing these past 2 nights. Very strange weather all winter.

I've read soy milk works as a mordant, have you had luck with that? Also, can parchment paper be used when using the iron?
@emsplace
@emsplace 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tara, I have only used alum and happy with that. Try the soy milk if you think that would work. If you only have parchment paper - give it a try since they hold up with heat. I have used parchment paper when ironing, just haven't tried it when eco printing. Thank you for watching:-)

It was great watching your testing. Would you tell me the ratios you use for your vinegar and alum waters? I am looking forward to the early blooms, especially after watching this. Thanks. PS: we have a cat that sits and stares at us when she knows it is time to eat. It's so funny how these animals just know.

Hi Linda, Generally for the spray bottle of vinegar I use about a quarter white vinegar and the rest water. For the Alum, I use about one heaping Tablespoon per two cups of water. Pets, LOL yes. Thank for watching, Em
