Hunting Wild Dogs in Australia. Using thermal optics and a night vision scope - Another wild dog bites the dust. Plus a few bonus Foxes and Rabbits whilst I was out hunting. These feral pests (wild dogs) can be a huge challenge for the hunter to target. They are extremely in-tuned with their environment and super spooky to get within ethical shooting range of. Every wild dog that is reduced is a huge win for our agricultural industry and native animals.
This was also the maden run for my new XEYE E3Max thermal scanner, very impressed with it so far.

Very productive run for the new thermal. Looks pretty good mate, especially as you mentioned (in the heat).

I'll be the first one to admit I thought thermal was a cool weather gig. But certainly won't complain it works quite well in the warmer months. There's some basalt rock type outcrops though in this property that it would be hard to spot a critter in, over say 150 yards if it was not moving. A lot of the time it's the movement you actually see. And once it moves you start to notice it might have a little more contrast than the nearby hot spots.

Buy the best you can afford mate. There's many factors based on use, budget, target species. What makes a good fit for your expectations and use isn't necessarily the most expensive scope. Above all other, get a thermal scanner before buying a thermal scope 👌

😂 Kinda, but not quite that dynamic. I've had a thermal scanner since last March. But that one didn't have WiFi and recording like this one does. So I can put up footage like this now. It'll be good fun I reckon.

Makes zero difference to me, just so long as I know the range in something. Too many years shooting at our local SSAA range which is yards doesn't help.

What do you do after you shoot them? Like sell their fur? Won't they learn to avoid that farm over time?

No fur market in Australia. Its just feral pest control. We shot em, and more move in eventually but the property gets a break for a while 👌

So you just shoot it and then leave the body there...?

They end up in land fill or on a carcass dump depending on the location.
