I'm totally with Reading fans. Their frustration and disgust at the owner and at the EFL is genuine and understandable. The fact that the club, and others, can be allowed to get into such a situation is a devastating stain on modern footballing governance. A lot of boring grey men and financial shysters failing to control even worse shysters strikes us as a failure. I remember marching aged 15 in 1982 against another rogue, Robert Maxwell, seeking to amalgamate Reading and Oxford Utd. Maxwell had a lot in common with Reading's current owner....

If your club tries to buy promotion, demand the owners sell. It’s too high of a risk/reward. Teams can go up by being smart it player development, and strategic marketing. Brentford, Luton, Bournemouth, are all clubs that have done it properly. What gets me is teams like city and Chelsea flaunt ffp rules without repercussions . The entire financial structure needs to be rebuild. Sadly, the wealthy 5-7 will never let it happen.

Hi there, I’m on the Reading fan myself and I found this very interesting but still the question wasn’t asked. Why was this guy employed to take over Reading FC when originally he tried to take over whole city in the premiership at that time and was basically ejected out now surely red flags would’ve been held up on his previous clubs that ideally went into liquidation so the EFL will always Protect themselves but as I’m coaching before this should never happen again. Ideally I would like to take over ASAP is it been going on too long? The IP rights are owned by the PL and the clubs competing in the league now. why should a poorly run lower league club be entitled to that when they have virtually nothing to offer in terms of TV or marketing? they shouldn't. Rick Parry and the EFL can throw the Premier league Under 21 teams out of the The English Football League Trophy, they can ban loans from Premier league clubs to EFL clubs. Its not hard to use power you have at the EFL, teams in Championship, League 1 and League 2 lose nothing by banning loans between the EFL and EPL.

Clubs need to exist on and by their own means. It shouldn't be up to the top level clubs to subsidise lower level clubs. If smaller clubs overspend and go bust, so be it. There are far too many clubs anyway. Ditto women's football.

The EPL is a private entity they don’t need to give the EFL anything the EFL should be grateful for what they get
