For future reference after making sure that something is secure and in place you have to tap it twice and say “yeah that ain’t goin nowhere”. It’s an added layer of security that give whatever your making an automatic 8% more rigidity than it would have otherwise.

You have the steel frame for the battery box in contact with the copper cooling tubes. Eventually there will be corrosion due to dissimilar metals. You may wish to put something between them to isolate them.

I will add that it can take a long time. I lived in a “slab on grade house” that was 40+ years old when the copper water lines resting on the slab reinforcing steel finally caused a leak. It happened twice.

Not a big fan of this modification. If you change the aesthetics of the car, what matters at that point that it was once a GT. I'd keep it as close as possible to the original shape, and, if the battery is too big... unfortunately redo the battery box and fit less batteries inside.

I know that weight distribution is really important for high performance sport cars.... Do you know how the weight distribution will pan out when you have the car back together? I'm imagining it's really hard to do the engineering on those finer details when you're taking so much off the car and then putting all this custom stuff in/on it.

Box and mount looks good. Bumper extension would ruin looks on the rear so i would cut it. Goos thinking on crash structure but it will bend so many parts anyway that not worth it. Keep length of the car as it is one big point of the joe it looks thing. Just make coolant lines with elbows and extend only bare minimum if at all.

To fix warping while welding all you need to do is bounce your welds around. Start on one side. Do one well go to the other side. Do another well go to the back of the first weld you started. Then go to the other side of the other welding finished and weld around. Don't weld continuously on one piece at a time

Great work on the battery box! Glad to see that the new job is still allowing you time to do your project. You are definitely getting better at welding, but with the difference in weight of steel vs. aluminum, converting your designs to aluminum might save a lot of weight for not much of a hit to strength. You may have to verify some of your measurements in CAD in comparison to the scanned files and other files you are using in the project to expedite the design of the parts, but it seems like SendCutSend can do it all for you. My one concern is the steel contacting the aluminum. I am not sure if it is an effect of salt up here or something else, but when these 2 metals are put together up here, they begin a very energetic reaction which causes both materials to "rust" rapidly. There is some sort of electrolysis between them, and they lose material quickly. I will look into it a bit more, but is the coating you are putting on an insulating coat, as that may make this a moot point. Keep up the awesome work, and I look forward to your next release.

I would love to weld for your company one day because I had the same idea of converting combustion engines into electric vehicles, you're on the right path for the future. Even though everybody says this is in our future, I'd rather have an electric car over a combustion engine any day. And if you ever need some welding tips or tricks, I'm down to help and teach how to make some of your wells a little bit better. I'm not saying they look bad, just a little bit more practicing you'll be Right on a good path but keep the great work coming and I'm going to continue watching

I'm worried that bleeding the coolant system might be a big problem depending on how you run your lines. Try to avoid any high spots that would trap air. A little air can dramatically affect the flow and cooling properties of the whole system. That being said, I think things are coming along great on this project. You do an outstanding job of breaking down each step into manageable pieces, and you end up making impressive amounts of progress each episode considering you're just one guy who is also handling filming and editing. As you get into customer cars, the filming & editing is probably a good thing to hand off to an employee so you can focus on the design and fabrication. Most DIY youtubers seem to estimate that filming the projects more than doubles the time it takes to complete.

10:31 Sir, on the $6 rear bottom corner supports. Have you considered the departure angle while driving? Is it too far back, sticking down too far. With the supports being sideways will they dig into steep driveways, tearing that weld? If designed with a front to back configuration will new supprts help out as more of a skid plate?

Every time I watch someone welding indoors on KZfaq I wonder why no one uses suction for the fumes. Is that normal practice and safe?

if you want a welding table, check out this other youtuber's welding table plans made from laser cut parts: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gKyflraQmKvQlY0.html pretty good precision for a fraction of the cost.

If you extend the bumper out a foot, how are you planning to handle the bodywork? The stock bumper cover is meant to meet up with the stock rear bodywork/fenders. How are you planning to deal with that? Custom fiberglass, or…? Sounds expensive and/or potentially pretty unattractive. I’d play around in CAD and see what the car REALLY looks like if it had an extra foot added to it.

@@ElectricSuperCar I think because both your arms are in the air too... I used to slide my arm across the bench, pivot on an elbow, brace against the wall... anything so you arent completely floating around in space... loving the videos 👍🏻
