Pete do you think this is useful for people who are weak off the ground?
@longjohnsteven9888

@@dessertstorm7476 if you cant get weight off the ground its nearly always technique based, so make sure thats on point. as for strength you will get a bit of carryover but I've found quad and trap stuff to build floor speed better

Happy Pete is still in the game. I can still hear Mark Bell doing a commentary and saying something like "the man lifts with the intensity of 1,000 maniacs" while watching a video of Pete grinding out some heavy squats. Good times back then.

Good to see that Pete is not only a gifted lifter but also clearly thinks a lot about what he is doing and is willing to share. Cool guy.

I started doing these a few months ago, and my deadlift automatically went up from 460-480! Definitely a super effective exercise.

@PeteRubish, I saw a video of yours where you said you used to go heavy for these, then you changed to light, 95 lbs. So you're back to heavy?

Bro same I’m Confucius… I just watched that video of him saying the contrary but I believe that was at the beginning of him just trying the light work experiment so I imagine the light reps had little carry over which is why he switched back to heavy. I recently did a PR of 355x5 and In my experience it’s much better in in 5 rep range and heavy as possible blowing my deadlift up man

How and where do you breathe and brace, since that is something to put some fokus on if this is to carry over to deadlift.

Would using small plates to increase the ROM have any benefit?
@PeteRubish
@PeteRubish Жыл бұрын
It could put you into a modest deficit, but I prefer to just do really high deficits in that 3-4 inch range. This will change the mechanics of the deadlift, but it's good to work in the rotation every few weeks to target the upper back and low back a bit harder.

Can this replace deadlifts or does the added weight a the top of a real dead give you something this doesn’t?

I think Pete should show off his physique a bit more. I think a lot of guys would be more confident getting off gear if they realised they could still look bigger and more muscular even than most people in the gym, like Pete still is.
