I was at this concert! I was a senior in high school at the time. I desperately wanted to go to this concert and played Smith's music to all of my high school friends hoping to convince them of how great he was and so that they would come with me to the concert but none of them liked him at all. It shows you that in 2000 Smith was quite ahead of his time sound wise. I bought several of his LPs (yes LPs not CDs) at his merchandise stand on the way out of the concert.

This is the best quality full band Elliott show I’ve ever seen posted on YT. Thank you! You can actually use the word, genius, for this man. No doubt about it. When first mentioning him and describing his talent to my girlfriend (who’d never heard of him) I just said, “He is the Van Gogh of music”. After listening to him, she soon agreed. We’re still going strong. Wish Elliott was. Bless him wherever he may be now 🙏🏼

Haven't seen this one in a while. They're on point here for sure, just wish he could've toured with a second guitarist in addition to a keyboard player. He was so good at writing those counterpoint melodies that would really benefit from a bigger arrangement. I'm not complaining though; the man could make a single guitar sound very full.

I meant that he usually has Sam and a drummer when he tours, and sometimes a keyboard player or a second guitar, but here I wish that he had another guitar in addition to the keys that are already present

holy shit this is incredible, peak elliot. the mix and power behind the drums and elliot's confident electric playing make it for me, the bass is on point, the backup harmonies are serviceable but def need tightening up (toughest job is matching elliot's voice/range), the keyboard was a bit low in the mix but the second guitar worked nicely, what a delight to have this entire concert. highlights: Independence Day, EMNTM, Cupid's Trick, Pretty Ugly Before > Amity > Bled White, Can't Make a Sound, St Ides

Elliott died when I was ten so I didnt get the privilege of seeing him live. But I did see the screening of heaven adores you at troc so.this is pretty cool

Reading your comment reinforces my feeling of Elliott being a Mandela Effect for me. I will never understand how I failed to hear of this artist until 2019, and even that was just happenstance. A YT channel I've been subbed to for years happened to feature one of his songs as background music and I stopped in my tracks and instantly looked this person up. I initially thought he was British or somewhere else out of Western Europe maybe. It didn't take but a few minutes to find out he had died in 2003 so I could at least understand to some extent. I am old enough to be your mother and yet you were aware of him years ago, lol, smh. Was the screening of Heaven in 2014 sometime? I thought the Troc was closed already at that point but I could be mistaken since years are blurring together anymore.

The drummer on this tour, Scott was his best live drummer for sure, then Janet Weiss. Robin Peringer was just a hanger-on and did Elliott dirty but that's neither here nor there.

@@Anotherroom According to a neighbor, he and Jennifer Chiba were having loud sex at Smith's house before he was even in the ground, and he was seen with Chiba removing some of Smith's belongings from the home. According to another tenant of the building where Smith was leasing space for his New Monkey studio, Peringer, Chiba, and one or more other persons were also seen removing all of Smith's belongings from the studio shortly after his death. Say what you will about Smith's family, but he and Chiba were not married, so that small fortune in studio gear, instruments, amplifiers and etc. belonged to them and not Robin or Jennifer or any other leeches. Personally, I would also never ball my friend's chick in the same house she potentially murdered him in and especially not before anyone even came to clean up the scene.

Baby Britain sounds really cool in this video! Elliott was amazing, too bad i was an infant when this was performed live, otherwise i'd probably have been there.
