I went to Egypt 16 years ago, It was a great time. I went to Luxor which is further south of the country compared to the Pyramids which is more northern. More of the things to see are around or near Luxor. In regards to drinking, we were able to drink in the hotel bars. Didn't see any alcohol in the local shops though.

'Have they been back since' ? Pyramids are a truly bizarre experience, right on the edge of Cairo, looking out over desert one way and blocks of flats the other ways. Go on a Friday, when the local kids are climbing all over them and being chased away by the guards.

@Embrace The Suck , Yes you can have beer in Egypt . My brother lived there for 5 years , he and his wife bought a flat there just outside the holiday resort town of Hurghada overlooking the red sea . Hurghada has lots of Bars even American Sports Bars a pint of draught beer will cost around $1.90 . bottles of beer are much dearer around $3.50 .

Considering the circumstances he had already been acquired to, the hotel room he was given surely must've been a blessing. Great reaction, it is good to see an alternative reality for some. To be fair, I’ve stayed in shittier hotels in Switzerland and Spain to name a few. The tourist places on the Egyptian coast are stunning. Yes they haggle, but that’s part of the fun. You’ve gotta keep an eye on some people, but most are really good natured. Egypt is 2 hours ahead of the GMT/UK. +10 hours would put you in Papua New Guinea or Vladivostok Russian Time. Funny review!

If you want to check out some British ska punk you should react to ‘Randomhand’ ‘Anger Management’ is probably their most popular song. Also ‘Lightyear’ either the song ‘Blindside’ or ‘Pack of dogs’ and ‘Popes of Chillitown’ I think ‘Wisdom teeth’ is their most popular song :) use to listen to these and saw them all live many times back when I was a teenager 😂

I'm not sure why you guys are disgusted at the thought of eating a bollock as there are whole festivals dedicated to Rocky Mountain Oysters in the States! I recently made my brother and his missus an Ox Heart curry, I told them it was diced Beef because I knew they'd be put off eating it otherwise. They loved it, but did have a squeamish look on their faces after I told them what it was. Heart, kidneys, lungs, liver, testicles, tongue, i'll pretty much eat anything other than an eyeball (again).

I've been to Morocco, Turkey, Egypt and Dubai - not had a problem buying alcohol as a tourist. On our first night in Marrakesh, my daughter and I got blind drunk on gin and tonics because the barman didn't know how to pour them - he basically poured them half and half in tall glasses - about quarter of a pint of gin in each glass. We only had 2 drinks each (dirt cheap) and staggered back to our riad an hour later lol.
