Hello! My name is Emily and I'm a late life lesbian. On my channel I share my story of getting divorced from a man after being married for 11 years and coming out as a lesbian at the age of 33 as well as support and resources for other women who have now found themselves in the same situation of realizing they're lesbians while in relationships with men.
I often get the question of you someone can suddenly just "realize" they're a lesbian. So in this video I discuss and share how this can happen.

When I realized I was lesbian I did feel like it was a huge lift off my shoulders. I never really had feelings for men and tried to force my feelings, and wanted to have a crush on them so bad but it didn’t work. When I realized how I felt towards women, and how much more comfortable it was it made me feel so relieved. It really is a bit hard to explain but I do feel like you explained it perfectly. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has gone through this😭

You nailed the answer to the question--"How could you not have known?"-perfectly! And the same considerations apply to men as well. Trust me, I know. From a late life gay man with a background and stories very similar to yours.

I always had an ick towards men... They are my best friends but when "I fall in love" with them (which never happened for real, I never fell in love) I'd soon start developing an ick towards them and sexual repugnance grew up through time...I started at 15 by thinking I was bisexual... Then I realised that I love people's minds, by 20 something...so I thought: I'm pan. But now, at 37... I really don't think of men sexually...and thinking of it... Grosses me out... So I thought I was pansexual-greysexual. But I don't feel icky thinking about sex with a woman... I'm a lesbian.

The desire of attraction is within all souls, however, the soul (a point of light) is genderless, either male or female. The soul simply plays it part according to the body's gender. The first mistake humans made was to identify themselves as male and female, a body, rather than the soul occupying the body. Sometimes a soul will have stronger feelings for the same body type, which is absolutely normal. Souls have been taking birth to male and female bodies since time immemorial. And in some births we are drawn to a certain body preference due to past life experiences.
