21:50 UGH, as an adoptee I hate this logic. So you're telling me the woman who changed my diapers, woke up at three am to hold me when I cried, taught me how to walk, took me to see every musical that came to town, taught me how to sew and how to brush my hair, made jewelry for me, took me on vacations, went to school WITH ME during a particularly bad time when I was afraid to go alone, bought me my first pair of high heels, talked me through my first period when I thought I was bleeding to death, cheered for me when I got my diploma, helped me advocate for myself when I started college, made it to every single one of my concerts or school musicals, attended my college graduation despite the fact that it was outdoors in 90 degree heat during a global pandemic, and was willing to take photos of the stuffed animal I made at Build a Bear for my 24th birthday despite me being an adult who some would say was 'too old' for such a thing...isn't my mom because I didn't come out of her vagina?

"Real victims dont forget what happened to us" I HATE THAT!!! Dissociative amnesia exists and is a real detrimental thing. With the statute of limitations, victims with dissociative amnesia have such a hard time getting justice when they remember what happened to them. Victims 100% can forget or block out what happened to them, some never get the memory of their trauma back until years upon years later or even at all. If you do remember what happened to you, you wont forget it yeah, but over time with therapy and healing the effects will fade until you're able to live your life without constant fear. Edit: To everyone in the comments here, I love you all! I truly hope you all get the help you need and the justice you deserve. Your experiences are valid and you're incredibly strong for surviving what you've gone through. From one abuse/sa victim to another, I'm supporting you in your healing journey

Yep. Literally have trauma that we still don't know about. And the worst of it is having ptsd level triggers but you do NOT get to know what they are. At all. Also, as someone with *extremely* high pain tolerance (to the point where I actually can barely feel anything whenever I hit my toe in the depths of the night) barely feeling any pain or not feeling pain at all kinda sucks. Pain exists for a reason, it's literally a survival mechanism that lets us know that something's wrong with their body. The amount of serious injuries I could've prevented if only the pain kicked in sooner and I removed my limb faster is insane. Also it makes noticing internal issues a living hell because my "mild" pains and aches all turn out to be super serious issues that could've been prevented if only the pain, once again, kicked in sooner. Going to the doctor with a mild stomack pain only to find out that my stomack's acid has almost melted my insides and that I now can't eat most of my favourite foods because of how severely everything is already corroded is... fun.

erasure poetry, also known as blackout poetry, is created when one takes an old text and blocks out certain words to turn the original passages into new passages with new meaning. it can be seen as collaboration, recycling or renewing old text to tell a new story, a way of concentration, and/or challenging the old passages. it is absolutely poetry, as poetry is any literary work centered around or intensifying the expression of emotions and ideas that's usually written with a distinctive style and rhythm. -sincerely, someone very passionate about literature

Lissen, it's all about "caring about the babies" while they're still in the womb. It's important to hold women prisoners about what they can and can't do with their own bodies. Once the babies are born, they must be used whichever way the older generations see fit to ensure they can have more comfortable lives. Don't worry about the kids' suffering, because they should be grateful that they were even brought into the world and made to slave away for some wrinkly old grumps while experiencing the same miserable childhoods that they had. They're really only valued for their productivity, and should only ever be told that they're loved so that they'll stop whining. This is the conservative way. /s

As a chronic migraine suffer I can in fact say that needing to be keeled over in a pitch black room with a trash can is not the defining trait of whether something is a "real" migraine. There are different types of migraine with different severities and each migraine you get can be on a different level it can heavily vary between person to person. The main form of migraine I suffer from is vestibular migraines which is vertigo and nausea. They were bad enough that I had to drop out of regular school in middle school and move to online school because of how severe mine were before we figured out some good treatment and sometimes they still get that bad. Vestibular migraines are still medically classified as a migraine and is absolutely debilitating without treatment and still can be at times with it. And as I've gotten older I've been able to tack the headache variety onto my list of migraines. Both of these are usually made more tolerable when at their worst if I curl up in a quiet dark room but it's not always necessary. Loud sounds like loud music can trigger them along with lack of sleep but again the levels and causes can differ between people. The idea of someone trying to gatekeep freaking migraines of all things really ticks me offer.

gatekeeping in music has always irritated me. as someone with autism, my sort of hyper-fixation is with certain bands and artists, i only listen to a handful of bands or artists, and am usually obsessed with them, knowing all there is to know about the band, from how the band was formed to knowing every member's favorite food, and also having everything involving the band, like deluxe versions of every album or movies they cameoed in as well as lots and lots of merch. but even with my obsessions of certain bands, if i meet someone who likes the same bands as me, but are only a casual listener, i don't interrogate them on if they're a real fan or calling them a poser if they don't know every single bit of trivia about them, because nobody likes assholes like that. i usually have normal conversations with them, like asking them their favorite song by that band or artist, recommending other songs by them or sharing the bits of trivia i know about the band, y'know, normal shit. it's perfectly fine to be a casual listener, more than fine actually, you don't need to be a super-fan to enjoy a certain band or artist's music, you can just, like their music because you like their music. and if you are a super-fan, that doesn't make you better, that simply means you really like a band or artist and are extremely dedicated to them, which is fine, it's good to have something to be dedicated to and there's something magical about meeting another super-fan, but you're not better for being a super-fan. it also sucks when you are a real fan, but get called a poser by some neckbeard behind a screen because you only have digital copies of their albums or something stupid like that... stop gatekeeping music, music should be able to be enjoyed by everyone, whether you're a super-fan or a casual listener.

All true. But metal heads in my experience aren't a huge fanbase of gatekeepers or music snobs, there is the classic example of people that raged when baby metal toured with rob zombie, but Rob Zombie ridiculed people for claiming any artist could be less than serious about their content. A lot of us like a lot of concept material and various degrees of electronic and contemporary instruments, and cultural source. While I find some other genres, let's say us country, to represent a far smaller scope, I admit that same scope is unrepresented elsewhere and that's why I listen to a lot of other genres anyway. It's also why I appreciate a wide variety of metal genres and cultures represented in it these days.

@@handsomejack4125 same, although i've always noticed that, autistic people always seem to have very niche hyper-obsessions, so it can be a little harder to find people who are obsessed with the same thing you are. but it makes it feel that much more special when you find someone who likes the same thing as you, even if they might not be as obsessed with it as much as you are, it's nice to gush about that thing, share everything you know about it and have conversations about that thing. it's an even bigger plus if they're also autistic, because a lot of us (myself included) seem to have a limited amount of things to talk about, and most people will get sick of you going on and on about something you're passionate about, but they won't mind as much if you constantly talk about it, since they'll also probably go on and on about it.

It's quite fascinating that some people are so oblivious to how languages have always been this evolving form of human expression. You could show them an ancient form of their own native language's text and they'd be completely stumped at what even half of the words mean, only for you to point out that it was their official form of their native language at that time period. Whether they'll believe that's how languages work or not at that point is a clear indication of their general acceptability on a lot of advanced topics.

If it bothers you personally (I can't stand the feeling of hair on my legs, for example, if I'm going to wear clothes that expose them), then you can shave it. If you dgaf, you don't have to shave it. And "landing a man" is not the be all, end all of a woman's existence.

The funniest part about gate keeping pain is that most of the people who live in agonizing pain 24/7, such as folks with severe CRPS (the most painful chronic condition known), recognize that others have very real pain that disrupts their lives. We know that while someone suddenly feeling what we feel would flatten them, *it flattened us in the beginning*. We’ve simply adjusted to that reality and thus can do more. But someone who normally has no pain suddenly breaking a bone or having horrific stomach pain, or whatever? That’s very real and very debilitating for them.

I remember the groups were very gate-keepy when I was in high school and I remember identifying myself as an “emo” but people said I wasn’t a true “emo” because my clothes matched more of a skater/grunge look. But then the skaters would tell me that I wasn’t a true “skater” (besides the fact that I couldn’t skate) was because I wore Converse high tops instead of Vans. It addresses a lot of important topics like human rights issues, grief, family/friendship and trust, and perseverance in difficult situations. I'm honestly disappointed Rooster Teeth took it off KZfaq after a few seasons to cash in on DVD sales instead. I think a lot more people would enjoy and benefit from the show if it was still easily available. Increase the speed to medium, add the milk and vanilla, and beat until fully blended, 1 to 2 minutes, making sure not to incorporate too much air into the frosting.

A friend of mine was into punk growing up, and before anyone says anything, he was born in the 80's, so they're not "too young", and he's the most welcoming lover of punk I've ever met, and believes that you should never gatekeep something like punk, and he'll usually try to get anyone that asks about music to listen to Punk lol Edit - Not saying others in punk aren't gatekeep-y, i just love hearing him get pissed at people gatekeeping Punk

Gatekeeping work exhaustion though… in high school I was an extreme introvert who worked as a gymnastics coach for young kids, and damn that shit was so exhausting I’d be _done_ after my 3 hour shift. And people at school would always be like _“why are you complaining it was only 3 hours, I work 6 hours”_ or whatever and just- just shut up. I’m allowed to be exhausted after being “on” for 3 straight hours running after kids and demonstrating skills all while not being allowed to sit down at all.

I'm 17, born in '06. My mom (1979) was always a very nostalgic person, and still is. We also were quite poor when I was young. So we didn't have a DVD player until I was like 10 years old, despite them becoming a thing in the late 90s I believe. Walk-men, VHS/VCR, cassettes. I grew up with that stuff. Most of what I had early childhood was in fact stuff from the 90s. But then Millennials will be all "Oh you don't know, you're not a 90s kid" Like...ok dude? Does that mean I can't be familiar with and have grown up with the same stuff you did? Also small other thing cause it's funny and relates to some of these posts. My mom was born in mid December of 1979. But will call herself a 70s kid. Like no mom, you existed in the 70s for less then a month XD

was kinda the same for me. i'm an 80's kid (born in 1980 so i can say that. lol) but because of my parents i heard and watched a ton of music and movies from the 50's and 60's. we had a rotary phone for awhile (despite most everyone having only touch-tone/push button phones) there was an 8-track tape player around. lots of records/vinyls despite them being replaced with cassettes and then CDs, etc. and thanks to my parents and channels like nickelodeon watched a ton of 50's and 60's sitcoms.

7:03 I'm kinda suprised by that. Like how uncommon is it to have bareable menstral pain? I'm only asking cause I think I might have super lucked out and only got bad stomach ache levels of pain. I feel so sorry for all the people who have incapacitating levels of pain and have it treated like is not even close to even what I get.

You're going to be at some level of discomfort anyway. But I think what you experience is supposed to be the norm. I think Dr's ignoring gynea problems leads to people all around dismissing periods as extremely painful when that's not supposed to be the case. Hope I'm making sense?

I also have very light pains, especially after a couple years on hormonal BC. It might be less stories of non-painful periods because we don't want to support those saying it's no big deal? Like, give them false ammunition against those who do have very heavy periods? I'm not sure. About 10% of women have endometriosis, which usually result in excruciating pain. That is quite a lot of women who have to deal with being told it's supposed to be this way for years :(
