This has to be pre vis. He could have guessed that the emperor would use the ship from the first film, but there’s no way he comes up with that base structure from nothing.

Not kidding: when I saw the reflectivity of the Emperor's ship in the theater, it made my jaw drop. It probably wasn't the hardest effect to produce but MAN did it look cool.

Thought this might be leaked footage for a sec, still feels like a real pre vis sequence, a little nit pick is the atmospheric heat distortion is a bit too strong, but other than that it's really well done.

maybe, but I would think heat shield tech has advanced a bit in universe, but my small nit pick was more to do with the overall ambient heat distortion effect, in the denis film it is hardly as strong as it is here even when atreides land for the first time. Just my take I guess we we will see in the final film how it all ends up looking. @@aron666xparamor6

Mild Spoilers: A scene like this in the actual film would've drastically improved the pacing imo. To me it seemed that the Emperor's ship was flying there one mnute, and had the base deployed the next, we didn't see it actualy unfolding and setting up.

I completely agree. This video is leaps and bounds better than what we got in the movie. They absolutely did House Corrino and the Sardaukar no justice in Part Two. They just landed and immediately got wiped out. I am a bit disappointed with how that whole scene played out.

This is pretty sick, I especially like the Highliner. There wasn't enough Highliners and Spacing Guilds in the movies. I loved when Emperor Walkin decended on the planet and the way it was shot and the Harkonnen reactions were "Awww Shi dad's home, and he's pissed."

like on the one hand it's obvious to my own silly eye where the blender did it, but also holy heck do YOU have the cinematographer's eye for such a sequence!!! i LOVE the "tiny rock in re-entry" choreography!!!! truly making use of the spaces involved. also SUPER NICE TOUCH adding to the space-compressed heighliner vfx!!!!! quiet visually while also being unambiguous that unbelievable things are being done. superb work all over!!!

Seeing this in the theater you are like "Oh damn, it's about to get real..." Actually the way it lands is very similar to the pyramid ship from Stargate, the pyramids being actually a landing site for a more giant sized pyramid ship.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought this. They did not do House Corrino justice. The whole Emperor coming to Arrakis scenes were so underwhelming. Did we see the Sardaukar kill a SINGLE Fremen? I was not asking for the moon here, just ONE Fremen.

Honestly that was one thing I didn't understand. If the emperor knew how dangerous Arrakis and it's people were, why he didn't stay at orbit and sent a messanger instead? Why to put his life at risk like that?

Because the Baron's forces could not quell the Arrakis revolt and were suffering heavy losses...the Emperor went down there with all his Sardaukar to finish the job...at the time the Emperor was still unaware how many or how strong the Fremen were, and thought his Sardaukar would finish them...also in the film (not the book) Paul challenged the Emperor to 'Kanly', which he could not refuse...so this was his way of handling the 'House to House' warfare that Paul declared

Many of the characters in the book are showed to be deeply flawed in many ways. Vladimir for example is shown to be incredibly arrogant and dismissive to many legitimate threats, such as the Fremen. The emperor is interested only in power and control, he believes himself to be more powerful than anyone else in the universe. Also at this time Paul hasn't shown himself to be as powerful as he actually is. Everyone thinks he's just a terrorist bombing spice collectors.
