The way Senna playing with the throttle on the corners is amazing. He's basically imitating what traction control units do today, but he did it 30+ years ago...
@jamescampbell4334
@jamescampbell4334 2 жыл бұрын
That's an insult to Senna and his abilities. He's doing WAY more then what modern traction control does. Senna is actually transferring the weight of the car across the chassis. While coming to the apex, he transfers the weight to the front axle, this "unloads" the rear, the car rotates to align the car for the next track section. I'm not aware of any traction control system does that. Are you?
@anhiirr
@anhiirr 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamescampbell4334 dk drives like this too....but watching senna with no FF background just jump in and drive FLAT OUT is amazing to see if only we could see him 2 foot driving or left foot breaking to see if he is while on throttle at the same time he still balanced that EF like a seasoned driver of that class. Considering how that style affects FF tire wear it would have been amazing to see him duel DK had he not passed. IT would have made for some MUST See TV. Imagine senna driving all those random shop built/tuned cars just for the sport of driving fun. Doesnt suprise me that DK and the OGs never hesitate to mention senna or F1 greats I love the cultural connection cross over. When he was on the Honda team these memories/moments are amazing. IMO hes a human torque vectoring MACHINE perfect chassis balance front toe/grip ballet...and throttle play. Perfect from FF to MR. He just downright masters how to manage front grip/steering angle and power/driving angle. A driving master

true that, they wont teach you this anywhere legally, these are old techniques that required exceptional feeling of the cars physics and will go wrong if you do a slight mistake, sad times are coming for driving with AI and other electronics, for me it all ended with group B, even though people in japan are trying hard to keep at least some of the rawness
@23905970
@23905970 6 жыл бұрын
Jaroslav Procházka with all the electronic assist and drive by wire technology in today's cars, I don't think it'll be easy to do the same thing just by "feeling" the car's behaviour. And I think the way how new cars behave and the high grip level from new tires changes driver's styles dramatically. Just by looking at videos, I feel like the lower grip level from older cars requires driver to play around the car's limit and occasionally make the car slide slightly to rotate in corner and direct the car into a desirable line at corner exit. But new cars have so much grip that it'll be so much faster to drive smooth and keep line as tidy as possible. Even WRC drivers slide so much less now than rally drivers back in the days.

jihadjoe Those so called "rules" that they teach at HPDE are total BS. Although I will admit Senna's on/off throttle mid corner is a bit odd. His driving style is like no other. I can't argue with with his technique as he could have beat me with his eyes closed.

The best cars have been build in the late 80's and Honda made the most sophisticated mass produced cars of that golden age. We all know that now but back then nobody admitted it.

Senna was a real life Takumi Fujiwara. Look at him casually setting world records with one hand in the wheel and one in the gearshift lever. Watching him race is like listening to Mozart.

These two great cars driven by the best driver of all times costs now half or less, than some Ae86 star in some kids cartoon. That says a lot about car culture in our days...
