The results of the Firearms Safety Consultation have been released and will result in further restrictions and additional firearms laws around high muzzle energy rifles, air guns, miniature rifle ranges and ammunition. We go through what will change and how this is likely to affect gun owners within the UK.

Most guns laws don’t even effect criminals whatsoever, only the law abiding citizens suffer.
@ripzoh169
@ripzoh169 Жыл бұрын
Of course they won't affect criminals. The whole idea of someone being a criminal is that they break the law. A lot of criminals have been using fully automatic machine guns for years and they are fully banned. They are not going to think "I better get rid of my Uzi now because its illegal" lol. Gun laws are a joke over here and it spoils the sport and hobby for good people. Its a shame really.

It's not the criminals the establishment are scared of and shitting their shorts about. They are scared of good people sick of their evil. They are scared of a majority of population being able to fight and defend themselves. They lose control or their illusion of it. Status quo is unacceptable to them. Hence more laws.

Why are people who want to enjoy firearms so demonised in this country. And why is it only legal gun owners seem to be taking the hit. Criminals don’t follow laws. I just see this as a closer step to no private ownership of firearms in this country.

Well when there is people who want to own military “styled” assault rifles, high powered rifles and handguns what do you expect? Who needs the assault stuff? It also makes us look bad. Why do you need a handgun? And who needs a high powered rifle that can go miles? It would be better to just make everything a single shot. Limited amounts. And a maximum caliber. (Maybe .243 or .303.) As if someone goes crazy they won’t do as much damage with access to only these guns.

@@kylethedalek I don't know @Steve Horner's exact point & am not sure 'where you are coming from' based on your other comments around here, but I also disagree with you so I'll have a go at responding... I'm going to assume from your "they won't do as much damage" comment that you are supportive of a US Gun Control description of so called "Assault Weapons" (although you actually state "Assault Rifles" which is a well defined term for military select-fire small arms that are, all but, impossible to own in the UK & have been for a long time). The key problem is that "Assault Weapon" is a made up term that was deliberately designed to enable the control advocates to invoke an unjustified fear of firearms among those who didn't know better - I think its originator is recorded as having admitted as much. So an already vague & incorrect term has been further & widely misunderstood / misused but, in general, seems to be targeted at purely cosmetic features which in no way make such firearms more dangerous than their 'acceptable' equivalents. The typical characteristics do as little to turn make a firearm 'military grade' as just wearing camouflage does to turn a person into a soldier. So it might "make us look bad", but only because the lack of any proper foundation is not being called out - which is unfair & shouldn't be accepted. You question the requirement for "a high powered rifle that can go miles". Well, the power can be needed to humanely dispatch a hunting or other quarry - the function has very little to do with being able to "go miles". You later go on to suggest an 'upper limit' including .303... which can absolutely "go miles". I've never shot .243 but I'd bet it can too. Even .22 LR can travel a very great distance in certain circumstances. All of which only goes to show that one needs to be aware of 'backstops' whatever cartridge you legitimately use, but "short ranged" is not a useful control measure. You then say "single shot". Again, referring back to the "Assault Weapons" aspect, fully automatic firearms have long been banned in the UK; so only 'single shot' - firing one round for each operation of the trigger - firearms are able to be owned. And even a great many types of those eg non .22 rimfire semi-automatics have further been banned. Or did you mean 'absolutely' single shot, with every round having to be loaded by hand before firing? If so, there are good reasons why magazine fed firearms are necessary & that is entirely too restrictive for legitimate ownership... but if you believe that, there is very little I suspect I could readily say in a post on the internet to reverse that negative viewpoint! I'm afraid I really don't know what you meant by "limited amounts". Unfortunately there is too little understanding of firearms functionality & their lawful & appropriate uses. I am a big believer that ignorance around firearms needs to be countered much more effectively by the law abiding shooting community (all together - returning to a key point of this video!) because, at the moment, increases in laws & controls are being justified on the basis of improvements in public safety that they will actually have little impact upon.

When the idea was first dreamt up, the use of 'sub-calibre' .23" CF cartridges such as the 'Morris-Tube' rounds, where a sub-calibre device was fitted to a service rifle, was not uncommon. .22"rf was not the only cost-effective game in town. We own an air rifle we bought for my son we are also looking at a second air rifle for my youngest son, I would love to have more ranges in our area as the private property I had permission on changed hands during lockdown and we are now finding it difficult to get somewhere to shoot, however all the points you raised are valid and it is a disgrace that more people didn’t exercise their right to reply and it is extremely detrimental to the sport keep up the great work looking forward to more content !

Of course if people didn't know about it then that's not their fault, which is why I also blame the organisations. BASC has 150,000 members, yet we get 2,300 responses, why was more not done to encourage their membership to compete it. Same goes for the NRA, Countryside Alliance ect

The same people who claim now they would have responded to a consultation had they known about it will have a chance to talk to their own MPs; they wont do it, and will moan afterwards. Guarantee.

Why didn't I know about this? If I had known, I would definitely have made a contribution! I can't believe none of the regular air gun reviewers (of which I watch on a regular basis) have brought attention to this matter. I only found your channel by accident while browsing UTube, of which I have now subscribed to. I also occasionally go to a Sunday morning meet up and shoot with other air gun enthusiasts. No mention by anyone yet the meeting is managed by someone who is in the trade, yet again, nothing, not even a hand written poster where everyone signing in could have been displayed. It's to late now I know, but thank you for at least bringing it to our attention. At least I can hear any new information from you now. I'm going to pass your channel to all of my fellow air gun shooters. Next time I might be at least informed of any new that might affect us and hopefully do something this time. Many thank. 👍

Hello Callum, I was just thinking on the component parts of Ammo, how will this work with muzzle loaders? People who collect deactivated rounds/ dummy rounds? Blanks? And even people who make their own blanks or dummy rounds? Edit: also trench art or people who make cuff links, buttons, whistles, bottle openers, and various other things from casing’s or dummy rounds? And there are people who use musket balls for their models to give them more weight, like on boats to keep them stable. Or trains to give them more pulling power.

We have some of the toughest gun laws, but criminals can easily get guns and specially in cities gun crime is rampant, all the laws have done is stop people from owning and using guns, while criminals can carry on unhindered

Transporting HME and Ammo separate is do-able when travelling to a range. (agree it shouldn't come into force). But if you are travelling to a hunting ground, are you supposed to take your rifle, leave it there unattended, while you travel a couple of miles home to pick up your ammo? By the way, I was one of the few who answered the questions..

There was a remarks box after each question and I had complete each one to to give a balanced opinion to the biased worded questions.
