In this week's video, I chat about my finished crochet makes, which include the Winter Cottages cushion by Kate Eastwood. I've made the most adorable mini snowman from Toft and I show you the dolls I made from the Toft Advent. I also chat about where I've been and my plans for this year.
I've started a couple of new projects which I can't wait to share with you. The first one is the Sholach blanket by the lovely Abi from "getyerhookon" and I've just started The Cove by Shelley Husband, I've bought her brand new book and I've bought some new yarn too.

Great to see you again Stephanie. Your throws look amazing. I think the book is pretty good for the price considering all the work and detail that's in it. I crocheted loads of circles then made them into squares and now joining up. Used all scraps for the circles so that always feels good. Also have an African Flowers throw , LittleDove Crochet, on the go. Would like to get them both done by the summer.

Hi Angie, Shelley's book is definitely worth the price. I don't think she charges enough to be honest. She certainly goes above and beyond for each one she brings out. Your blankets sound amazing, I hope you manage to get them finished. It's so nice working on a blanket at this time of the year, though, isn't it, as it's lovely to snuggle under at the same time, once it's big enough, of course. Happy crocheting 🥰

It's really great to see you back Stephanie. I love seeing g all your makes, I love the cushion and you are right to leave it out all year. This is on my list of makes and I have the pattern. I have tge pattern. I also love the Mayen blanket too. I have never tried Toft, I must give it a go. I'm glad you enjoyed the advent, it would've been a lovey treat. I've seen Jeanette doing her Toft advent in the past, I I know that they are pretty expensive but we'll worth it I believe.I am behind with my project as we moved before Xmas. I have just finished the Sirdar Noel Xmas knit along😅 I havectge Greenway blanket to finish. I'm knitting the Thorny Briar mitts by Greenlamkin yarns, it's a knitting. I'm also doing a bit of cross stitch, I'm quite a Newby to this. The Cove pattern looks good too. I am actually crocheting a cardigan for the first time , The Sunday Funday Cardi , I'm on the sleeves and hoping g it will turn out fine. I'm using the Women's institute tweed yarn . Good morning Fran, it's so lovely to hear from you. You sound like you've been busy. Moving house is always a bit stressful and takes up all of your time doesn't it? We've moved 4 times in our 32 years of being married, although this is the longest house we've stayed in, it's getting on for 19 years this year. Toft is lovely yarn to work with but is on the expensive side. You can definitely see why though. It is really good quality and I'm sure would make a lovely garment, knitted or crocheted. Let me know how you get on with your knitting, as I'm keen to start this year and am unsure what to start with. I've seen such wonderful knitted garments on YT and Instagram and really wanted to give it a go (I even bought a knitting needle set last year at Yarndale). I did see the Sirdar Noel Xmas pattern and it looked beautiful, I hope you are pleased with it. The Greenway blanket looks really nice, is it the one from Ophelia Talks? The Thorny Briar mitts look great too. Oh there's so much choice isn't there, I can spend many a happy hour scrolling through Instagram. I really enjoyed your company while I’ve been sitting here knitting (making another emotional support chicken!) I have never heard of surface crochet before and I’m intrigued to find out more! Your blanket is looking so beautiful. Is there a good introductory pattern or video that you would recommend? Your Cove blanket will definitely feel at home on the Isle of Mull - I hope the weather is kind to you so that you get some good photos! xx

Don’t put yourself down.. the video was absolutely great.. it was a nice surprise to see it pop up, we’ve missed you.. 🥰 A quick question..Well two actually..🥴😂 Is the Sholach difficult..I’ve done the Coronation blanket and the Noel nine patch by WoolThreadPaint..but haven’t done tapestry type ones… and would you say the jewelspun Aran would be good in place of the King Cole riot..? The cove one is tempting me too..🤔 Looking forward to the next episode..no pressure 😂xxxx

It's lovely to hear from you again, and thank you so much for coming back to watch. You will definitely be able to do the Sholach if you've made the coronation blanket. It's only using 2 stitches and looks far more complicated than it actually is. The Jewelspun Aran is a fantastic idea and would look beautiful. I have been crocheting for many years, but I do tend to do fairly easy patterns. I'd like to try the Sholach blanket, do you have any advice for someone trying out overlay mosaic crochet for the first time?

Hi Rachel, I would suggest trying a small sample piece first. If you head over to Abi's website, she has some free patterns that you can have a look at. If you are an experienced crocheter, you will have no problems with it. It really does look a lot more complicated than it actually is. Good luck, and let me know how you get on ❤
