Pato was never ever "overrated." He was rated very highly, which was perfectly fair. He wasn't even just a 1-season wonderkid. He had several great seasons with a strong Milan side when he was a teenager, and he was going to become one of the best players of the 2010's. His recurring knee injuries ruined that. He was rated appropriately, though.

He was really good at Real Madrid, put Brazil on his backpack for the Copa America where there was no Ronaldinho, Kaka, Adriano etc (also named MVP of the tournament). He left Real Madrid because they wanted to exchange him with Cristiano Ronaldo had a decent first year at Man City with 14 goals (4th top scorer) , second year injured then went back to Brazil for recovery and playing time. "Spent 5 years in a dying AC Milan" they won the Serie A the first year, were also good the second year then AC Milan sold a lot of players because of the crisis in Italy Nothing to blame there. Also when he was at City his first year, Barcelona tried to buy him but city didn't want to sell him

Not overated it's more like overhyped by the media. Do not blame the player for doing their best and was called the 'next messi' by the media instead. They build the hype then the same person who overhype them will bring the player down when the player doesn't or unable to catch the hype they built. The media love to do it. Feel sorry for some of the player you called overated who just want to play football. Some definitely fit the overated award due to their bad behaviour though.

I haven't seen him here, but as a Werder Bremen fan, i have to give a special mention to Marko Marin. When he came to Werder Bremen in 2009 from Borussia M'Gladbach, he was already hailed as "the german Messi" (why do people do this all the time?) he had a good first season and even made it to the germany world cup squad in 2010, but it went down when Özil left for Madrid and he had to become playmaker, showing that he has no qualitys as a playmaker. When he signed to Chelsea in 2012, he also didn't play any sort of role there with Coach Di Matteo. He was then on loan several times to Sevilla, Florentina, Anderlecht, Trabzanspor, then being sold to Olympiacos and now playing for Red Star Belgrade. One of the most overhyped german players i have ever seen.
