I’m actually a huge fan of the way the game plays this year. Longer gun fights to me means that more skill is required to stay on target longer. I also like the team play aspect. I know all my friends are going to get it and play it, so when we party up and play as a team with good communication like we’ve been doing in the beta, I think it’ll be a great time!

I absolutely hate this trend of e"sports", it didn't really bother me when it was just people playing games at a high level, but now that devs are balancing their games around being competitive rather than being fun, well, it's a bit shit, especially considering how the top competitive games are still the same games people have been playing for 10-20 years. Quake 3, SF2, SSBM, and LoL all came out ages ago, and DOTA 2, SC2, and CSGO are almost literal copy + pastes of old games. Something is wrong when people choose to play the same games they've been playing for decades over new games, and it indicates that balancing around e"sports" doesn't work for the people who actually play games competitively. It feels to me like so many devs are removing the fun but unbalanced elements of games (and you can really see this in BO4) in the name of making it more competitive. But it's more like a dumbed down version of a competitive game. The design goal seems to be making shitty players feel like they're in the same league as competitive players since everyone is bound by the same ranking system, ruleset, etc, even though it makes the game worse. That's the reason why they do it, is so that shitty players can pretend they're in a higher tier.

honestly as a big siege player and a background of playing cod when i was younger i am excited about BO4 seems like it needed a change and im happy with the changes to the game, haven't bought it yet though i definitely will be getting it.

Maybe if you're bad... Personally, achieving that state of flow does happen when I'm shitting on people (obviously), but I can also get to that mindset when I'm losing and zoning in to win the game. Clutches like that, which can occur often based on skill, are very engaging and only make me want to play one more match. Certainly, you cannot turn every match but it gets very intense when trying to.

You do achieve flow in cod. Everytime you stay alive enough, you kill somebody, then another, then another. You are completely engaged, it’s almost like a dance. That’s why so many people play it. It’s easy to understand and give so much satisfaction when you don’t miss a shot, you move perfectly around the map and every piece is perfectly placed. Like tetris.

Call Of duty died after MW2 for me and was the last one I purchased. Haven't even played a COD's multiplayer or campaign since Black Ops 1.(excluding some zombies at my buddies) Call of Duty has always been an arcade shooter but was once grounded in a sense of realism and authenticity that made them feel like a war game. Now we get supers and classes based multiplayer that is chasing market trends. Its sad that games now are about either trying to make either gender feel inclusive(Battlefield 5) or copy competitors to just fill in checkboxes and its sad. One game I am looking forward to is Insurgency Sandstorm, now that game gives me the same feeling as the first time I played the original Modern Warfare.
