"Overwatch is to fast!" or "Why can't i get out of Gold Nova?" is two things i heard this week. I have to agree, the codification has almost made me completely leave the fps scene.

I gotta say, he's absolutely right! Yes, I'm old as f**k, so I remember Call of Duty 2, and the player rooms, etc. I was a noob at first I remember being afraid to talk on the mic -all that. But, we mastered the learning curve it was so f***ing fun. You had rooms with all your friends and u harped on each other and u called out bad behavior and bulls**t spamming kill on the 60mm gun in the attic on Carthage or whatever it was called. And u punished the guy on that gun and u could literally waste 3or 4 hours rapping with your friends while strategically taking them out! And, we were All playing the same fu**ing game 87% of the time, because there wasn't the very annoying "party" rooms where someone was playing Viva-effin-Pinyata, while u we're having an awesome night game in El Alamein in the trenches, and even though u couldn't run at the time, it was still sooo fun and enjoyable and teams could talk crap to each other b4 a match on let's say Modern Warfare - the one they refined. Now it's just silence always and that's ok sometimes and the party rooms are occasionally ok, but I still had more fun talking shit to the enemy or my friends for being lame or talking with my team and leveling up super-fast on find the laptop game and secure; I can't remember the name, but the point is the first Modern Warfare just completely blew all our minds and even though I'm no longer in my old clan, I miss it. And we had to make up our own gun game before it was even called that or you played stupid zombie or any other creative modes your room was all about. That's the Call of Duty, I miss. The original Infinity Ward with all the original developers were freakin' geniuses. I don't remember what happened to cause that rift between the developers - maybe too many TPS reports or whatever -just and make up and bring the original glory back!! Old bands do it all the f***ing-time!! Let's all be great again!

At the end of the day I was a CoD fan boy who bought just about every game until black ops 2 then I stopped and got black ops 3 and was disappointed. Infinite Warfare looks so bad that I gave up. I switched to Battlefield 1 and I won't go back.

I hope activision continues to be even greedy so that the game will die and even the hardcore fans will refuse to support the franchise.

How you end these slot machine type fps games is you don't buy them.

I have a bunch of friends who played, and worshipped COD fervently. My way of showing them how bad it is was to introduce them to rainbow 6 siege. After playing a ton of that game, and enjoying the actual skill it required, they simply couldn't go back to COD. Now a lot of them say they aren't going to buy infinite warfare. That's 8 customers I took away from Activision. If a lot of people do stuff like I did, it could add up to thousands.

Dear game developers (cough 343 cough) If we wanted a COD game, we would play COD. If we want to play Halo 2 and 3, we'll play Halo 2 and 3, if we want a Battlefield game, we'll play Battlefield. But if you incorporate a COD formula in a Halo/Battlefield game, the people who love the original formula are going to leave, which are the people that built the franchise. Then you try to say "it's okay" it's not! It's like taking the foundation away from a skyscraper and expecting it to still stand, it won't and it'll crumble down. Go back to your original ways and some people may say "games need to evolve", you are correct, but don't evolve into another game. If you keep slowly copying another game, every FPS game is going to be the same, so what's the point of having 7 different titles with the same formula. If your original ways we're the stuff people loved then why take it away? It just pisses people off. Especially BDobbins ;)

So true. In battlefield I have seen alot of people saying that the game is bad because the weapons are bad, too much recoil, too many vechicles bla bla bla. They complain every time they get kill. People don't understand how to learn gameplay and so they move to games like cod where you don't need to learn anything about the game, you join the game and you go kill everyone.

Brilliant video, well done! CoD4 made the CoD franchise what it is today. I feel like it was the perfect game to build upon. Sure it had it's problems (x3 nade, martyrdom, juggernaut etc) but these were all fixable. If Infinity Ward/Activision had treated CoD4 with the respect it deserved, like Valve did with early CS versions, I really believe CoD4 could have been one of the top FPS shooters in the eSports scene right now, alongside CS:GO. Instead they chose to release a brand new game every year which is just not sustainable if you want to have a viable competitive, out of the box game. God i was SO disappointed with halo 4's multiplayer. It was literally just call of duty with a Halo skin.

I stopped playing fps games in general because I just got more frustrated than having fun, seems no matter how hard I tried there's someone always better than me. Tried Overwatch, didn't like it very much. Story driven single player games are what I play now. No screaming kids on mics, no frustrating bullshit, just fun.

There's also a TON of fans like myself who miss the call of duty 4 and world at war days simply because those games were the highlights of call of duty and those games didn't have the skill compressed garbage that we get every year now from CoD. And we absolutely want call of duty to go back to that golden state which is why I'm extremely excited for call of duty 4 remastered and is the only reason why I'm getting infinite warfare. BDobbins you should really make a video addressing the old call of duty fans who want CoD to go back to the good old days, I think that would be a really interesting aspect to hear your opinion on.

At the start of the BF 1 beta it sucked but now through a few patches it's somewhat balances enough that you can destroy a tank get a few kills and play the objective.

I totally stopped playing cod when I found bf3. Then bf4 came out and I was hooked. The older cods like mw and mw2 where really the only truly good ones.

I really don't understand how "trickshots", b-hops, wall running and running around the same map and the same game mod everytime is so god damn cool and worth like 60-70 bucks. I WAS a cod player ages ago but did not play the game since MW2 or BO switched to Battlefield 1 and I don't regret anything.

I think Rainbow Six Siege did an awesome job of not being COD, being hardcore enough to be different but not so much that it scared people off, it actually requires skill and teamwork, and it was goddamn fun!

just have every cod player play PlanetSide 2 then you will know skill and STEEP learning curves. if you have never played it try it.

I was actually a pretty good COD player back in the days of CoD4, through to BO2. I wasn't anything amazing, but I could get a 5-kill streak fairly easily on my good days, because I knew I had to adapt; I had classes adapted to certain map types and game modes, and I still do, but it doesn't matter anymore

One problem I have with the recent CoD releases is that the weapons start looking more and more like toys rather than actual guns, mainly because of too many attachments, skins etc.

It's the same for all other games, I'm a big MMO player and have been for over 15 years now. Back in the days you would play for a couple hours a day to work towards your next rewards and then after a week (or a couple months) you'd finally get your reward(s), and the feeling of that reward would feel amazing! However all MMOs in the later years have become more and more friendly to "pick up and play" which basically means you log on for a couple hours and you instantly get rewarded. There's no investment into MMOs anymore because there's so many players that simply won't stick around if they're not rewarded every time they log into the game, that's directly against the nature of MMOs though. Instant gratification means you "complete" things faster which means you play less and maybe even take breaks. That's the exact thing that's going on with World of Warcraft, new expansion (or content patch) comes out and the playerbase jumps by 4-5 million for 2-3 months and then people quit until the next thing comes. The incentive to play in the past, getting upgrades that takes time, has been replaced with instant gratification every time you log on. This problem isn't just in CoD (FPS), WoW (MMOs) or MOBAs (DotA/LoL) but a problem of the gamer generation that's come along the past 5 years. People no longer wants to spend time to get one really cool thing but instead they want to spend an hour getting something and then moving on to the next thing- never looking back. I even find myself a victim of this "gaming revolution", I can see an item on DotA 2 (cosmetic) and I think that's really cool so I try to get it either by buying it with cash or trading. Then I get my item and I forget about it because it doesn't feel special, on the other hand I have some items in my World of Warcraft account that I spent months on getting 10 years ago that has no power value anymore and looks bad compared to what's available to me now but the work I put into getting it makes it special. The gaming generation now is filled with a bunch of crybabies that wants to be rewarded quickly and not work for anything, to them gaming is just about playing games and having fun while for the "older" generation it was about prestige and achievements. When Bowser kicked my ass in N64 I didn't complain to Nintendo that it was too hard, I stuck at it trying over and over and finally managed to kill him. These days kids lower the setting to "beginner" even though they could perfectly fine do normal or even hard if they just invested a bit of time into it. Lazy gamers = easy games = boring games.

agreed I was playing other FPS shooters and then I played Battlefield 1 (which is my first Battlefield) and I noticed how much better I put time into practice and I have improved I have to say I look back on the other FPS and they where making it way to easy...

Remember when FPS games were actually good? Remember Metroid Prime, Perfect Dark, etc. These are some of my favourite games, but now there's nothing like them because the casual CoD players call anything that takes actual skill crap and unfair. I'd love to see those losers play Dark Souls. They probably couldn't beat the first boss.

The problem is that COD is nowadays so popular that the developers have to dumb it down to make it enjoyable for everyone. Anyone should get the statisfy feeling of succes so that`s why it sucks for hardcore gamers. I remember playing COD 2 MP back than....slow paced, no killstreaks, no attachments bullshit...just pure skill.
