I pose this question, Look at cyborg from doom patrol, no where nearly as machine like as cyborg from JL, Is it better to find your individuality and accept it as it is, a terrible situation, made better by the hope of being able to help, or to find it with a team? (I think they both found it with a team, which is why I say) would it be better if he found his own peace of mind in a solo film? Or is the moment as good as it could ever be? Missed opportunity?

One of my favorite details is a firm indication for why this version of Steppenwolf works so much better than the Wheden version. When the innocent man tells Steppenwolf "Please! I have a family!" Joss's version of him says "Why does everybody keep telling me that?" which hammers home the idea that he's meant to be a heartless conquerer who doesn't care about anything beyond that and himself isn't anything beyond that. But in the Snyder cut he instead responds with "Then you have weakness." a simple line change that suggests that Steppenwolf understands what it's like to have a family and understands how much of a liability it is to be too attached. A simple line that implies history, and a lot of hard lessons Steppenwolf had to learn.
@maniac7770
@maniac7770 2 жыл бұрын
I think the Whedon version is, perhaps the better one. Nothing about him asking why everyone keeps telling him that says he doesn't necessarily understand. He could equally be saying it as a "That's nice, but that has nothing to do with the questions I'm asking you." In a way, it's characterizing in its own fashion, because it exhibits a certain degree of history. It very easily implies that he's interrogated so many people over the course of his existence that he doesn't see the point of why people bring up irrelevant facts to him, as if he's supposed to care about them more than the information he seeks. In a similar regard, he's not human, so what's to say that he would share that human trait of seeing family as important?

Stand-offish with Cyborg, dismissive of Batmans' plans and hope, weirded out by Flash, and uneasy with Wonder Woman. Then he becomes more trusting of Cyborg and his abilities, has more faith in Batman and his plans, more comfortable with Flash to put his life in his hands, and realises how alike he and Wonder Woman are. Watching all of Snyder's DC movies leading up to the Snyder Cut in sequence pays off really well imo after watching the Snyder Cut. He started off by showing us broken or flawed individuals not people who have been perfect from day one which I find realistic, some haven't found their reason to be a hero or whether or not the world wants them to be(Superman), some are unwilling due to the pain of their past and are hostile/uninterested(Aquaman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman), some who need help and a supportive environment to grow(Flash) and someone who has been a hero long enough to see themself become the villain and lose hope in the good of humanity(Batman). Then finally, this group of people are forced to work together as the threat of Steppenwolf and The Unity forming would hurt the people they care about. After having saved the world together as one, they grow and mature as a character and slowly become closer to the heroes we know them to be. The end of the movie is very hopeful and uplifting which is so rewarding after seeing the struggles everyone went through in the previous movies.

@@zaphodbeeblebrox7893 I actually rewatched all the movies before watching the Snyder Cut but this time I set aside whatever existing images I had of the characters and saw them solely based on their actions and history as portrayed in the movies. I feel that keeping aside whatever bias we have of what these heroes should be before watching the DCEU helped me understand where these characters are coming from and sympathize with them and understand why the dark or grim setting makes sense, especially in a modern day societal setting. I think that as long as Zack Snyder continues to develop the heroes more and more through each movie to become the iconic heroes we know them as, then I don't have any issues with the grim or dark toned beginnings he has made so far.

The DCU scores really are superior. The Wonder Woman theme is superb but I adore how this version made Superman's necessity to victory and superiority to the other heroes obvious. The way he can take on all of them when they were just kicking ass and especially in Barry's case, best them is shown but I think Whedon's version showed that as well. His version of this movie always will make me wonder how the same director that gives us The Avengers also gave us this! Unbelievable!

Not necessarily the AI on the Metropolis crashed Krypronian ship. I think Krypton had multiple AI. The AI in the crashed ship & the one Jor-El had in the beginning of MoS were different kind. There were Kryptonian explorers who reached other inhabited moons/planets, right? As seen in MoS when Zod tried to salvage the world engine. What if an AI in one of those abandoned Kryptonian explorer's ships later became Braniac? That'd be interesting.

Dude, I cried my eyes out when I watched this film. Snyder has ALWAYS understood Superman. And he transitioned that understanding to include the entire Justice League, yes Superman is the most conventionally powerful ( original 7)JL member in a fight, but Barry, whose a human, ended up saving the world. THATS respect. Man of Steels “flight” theme is my favorite superhero theme because I remember 2013, when the chips were down and people didn’t think a feature movie of Superman would ever work outside of Reeves’ era. And boom, Zack comes along and knocks it out of the park. When “flight” came on, it was the moment Superman flew again, riding high. And now test screenings of the Flash are giving me reports that Zod shoots down Superman’s ship? NO! Absolutely not. I will start a march on WB’s HQ and demand they undo such a fundamentally detrimental decision to the DCEU. The current DCEU is built on the back of Superman, and killing him or erasing him in ANY way, it isn’t DC anymore, I don’t know what that would be. The Justice League are the beacons of the DCEU and the Justice League needs you Superman (Henry Cavill).

So to blame everything on Joss, even though yeah he was terrible and the movie he made was a bad joke, is wrong. I still think that the black suit makes sense since its actually heavily implied that there was some sort of technological exchange between the Kryptonians and the New Gods (the Motherbox reacts to the superlaser the same way the metal from the Kryptonian ship does and Batman's new gauntlets can absorb Parademon weaponry the same way they can Kryptonian weaponry) so I actually think the box only revived him some of the way and wouldn't have worked at all if he wasn't Kryptonian, so it makes sense that the ancient Kryptonians would have needed the special black suit to heal up after being revived the same way the black suit worked in the comics.

I mean... the MCU know it can't just start creating themes for every super hero they introduce because it woould just end up being a cacophony of litemotives in an event like end game, even then, they decided to give each member of the original avengers a certain not leitmotive but light musical representation, which ultimately culminates in the avengers theme always. The DCEU has it easier that way: They can learn faster from Marvel and start improving for a less Dineyfied audience, this also means they can concentrate more in they're principal characters, specially their trinity, and they decided to not give an specific motive to the groups because they have not yet the correct way of setting them up in a proper universe outside of the little DCEU pre The Batman and The Flash
