Just a quick video documentary I thought a few of you would enjoy. On Christmas Day of 2021 I actually went and checked out the Long Abandoned CN GlIdden Industrial Lead which was a CN spur line in Brampton that ran parallel to the major Highway 410 South for about a mile before eventually ending up at the old Brampton Bacardi Plant on Steels Ave.
-When exactly did this spur see its last train?? Very uncertain because the last customers including Bacardi themselves received their cars directly in their building through railcar garage doors so past aerial imagery dosent exactly offer any hard evidence because we can’t physically see if there were any railcars spotted at the plants but according to someone I spoke to who was well in the know with these spurs, there definitely wasn’t anyone actively receiving cars off this lead by 2006 & beyond. Pretty sure it still would’ve been in use in 2001 because a 2001 CN timetable includes it.
Anyhow hope you’ll enjoy the quick videos I filmed at the 3 abandoned rail crossings along this lead as well as the photos I share at the end.
*If anyone happens to much about this lead as to when exactly it saw it’s last train or even what type of rail cars the old rail customers received I’d be very Interested to hear if you’d be willing to share in a comment?
Also if anyone ever got any photos of CN actually on this lead back in the day or if you know someone who may have potential gotten a couple, if you’d be kind enough to share it would mean a lot to me also as I always wanted to see a couple pics of the CN local here.
