Dude you saved my ass five days ago. I had a gig coming up and I was a responsible adult so I started figuring out the midi the night before the gig. If I didn't find your video I would've given up. Thanks to you I managed to set up Big Sky but not the Boss DD-500 as well because I had no time left hahah. But the Big Sky worked perfectly with FXL8 Pro midi 🥰

Henning, been watching your videos for years now. Originally saw this when you made it and I am coming back to it years later since I may get the PXL Live. I wanted to thank you for the endless hours you spend educating the music world with your knowledge. Can't imagine how many people have benefited from your videos. In particular, it is amazing that english is a second language for you yet your articulation of difficult concepts is outstanding. Thank you for your time and efforts, it is truly appreciated.

Hey Musorad... they are extremely heavy duty and well built. Sure, shit can break... but I just had a 250 Euro boutique pedal that broke after only two days use... so that can happen with anything...

Just an FYI. You can use the triggers to act like a strymon favorite switch. I use an insert cable, set the triggers to be latching, make sure the Strymon is set to use the favorite switch. Both triggers off = favorite on, both triggers on = favorite off returning to what the knobs are dialed to.

Oh man, what I've just found... But let's start from the beginning. I've been using this PXL live for let's say - 1 year in my pedalboard. It has got some annoying issues like noises and worst - loud clicking during the amp channel switching and loop activating same time. I've been thinking of possible causes many time (I'm using only fully isolated power supplies - Cioks DC10 and G-Lab PB-1, so it's not this). Today I found (with multimeter), that edges of connected plugs contact with PXL housing, making a huge ground loops between switch section and signal. Temporary I resolved it with orthodontical elastic rubbers put on the jack plugs :D But I think they should resolve this problem by changing the sockets or electrically isolating the housing near the sockets.

I really appreciate this video. I've been looking for a way to take ultimate control over my JVM and pedal board and stop the tap-dancing, but I didn't want to spend $500-$1000 (at least) on a switching rig. This looks to be exactly what I need, but I would have been totally lost on how to set it up. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I'm going to order one, but it looks like I'll have to wait a month to get it, as they have to come from China. I just found your channel tonight and ordered the Joyo Vintage, phaser, and Ultimate overdrive. I'd never heard of Joyo before but they sound great. And for $30, there's not much to lose.

Just bought one on ebay, replaced my Carl Martin Octa-Switch II (which is a very good reliable board). This video had my Joyo up and running in no time at all. I watched this video about switching the pedals and sending program changes to the Timeline. I was able to intuitively apply the information to the BigSky (BigSky has 3 banks). So, your multiply x 3 and add 1 if channel A. My line-6 wireless has a tuner out so I use that to my korg tuner. Then straight into a Morley Tremonti wah, then to the main input of the Joyo. With 8 loops, I can run all 8 with an individual pedal per loop and then run two more midi products. I let the midi control turn them on or off. This allows a total of 10 pedals (2x midi + 8 standard loops). I added a volume pedal between loop 1 and loop 2. Everything works perfectly. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work!

Hey +Wilson Chow, no, the delay trail does not remain, there are very few switchers that can do that... the Gig Rig G2 can do it, but it costs 1000 Euro. The buttons are switch buttons and they click.
@BitRacer
@BitRacer 9 жыл бұрын
Just to expand on this a little, if your delay has trails it is not true bypass. Putting it in a loop makes it true bypass. Now I don't know what pedal you have, but if your pedal can be "turned off" via midi, you can leave that loop on, so the trails go through.

Hi Eyitch, I got an pxl 8pro on my pedalboard. It`s connected to a Blackstar series one 50 amp via midi and a couple of pedals in loop and in front of the amp. The Blackstar has 4 Channels ( clean 1, clean 2, crunch, super crunch). If you want to do a programchange it`s counting from 1 to 128. So the same like the pxl pro. Reacting to PC on every midi channels. I made a programming at the 1 bank of the pxl pro with just changing the 4 channels wothout any pedals. Its working. So far so good. But when I want to do a programming in the second second bank with pedals the PC doesn`t working. I put in the same midichannel and number like in bank 1, but it does not reacting to the PC or take the wrong channel. Tried to choose another midinumber in the same channel (the 4 channels are correlated to 1 cl ,2 cl ,3 cru ,4 sup crunch - 5 cl, 6 cl, 7 cru, 8 sup crunch - and so on. (Hope you know what I mean) But that also didn`t helping. Did I have a logical problem? Hopefully you can help me. Thanks a lot!

Love watching your videos, great information. Regarding loopers, I've been looking for a looper that would allow me to access all 4 modes on an Engl e530 pre amp. I haven't had mine long but with the 2 button switch, it can only change the overall gain from low to high which turns the clean channel to a crunch or the lead channel to high gain. I'm wondering if the trigger would allow me to change channels and gain setting in one pedal click. From clean to high gain for example. I know about the z11 option that engl have but was hoping i could use this looper and have pedals in the signal. Sorry for the long drawn out question. It's been a journey researching this.

Very good information. I am playing through a small rack set up of engl e530 preamp and power amp. What I want to do is use the 4 modes of the pre amp. It's not midi but has clean/crunch and crunch/lead. 2 button footswitch. It looks like this looper will allow me to change modes and effects but just want to be sure before spending the money. I did consider just going for a rack effects unit but decided to go for pedals. Any advise would be very much appreciated. I hope this all made sense.

Hi Henning - First off, love your videos so I hope you will continue for a long time. Secondly... I bought the PXL Live based on your excellent review but was hoping you could help with a techincal question.. (The Manual lives a little to be desired). Like your video, I have it set up with my timeline to change midi patches however I cant get them to change. I have followed your programming info on the PXL Live and have also set up my timeline to recieve Midi on the the same channel (channel one). Is there by chance a bypass / midi off function or something simmilar on the PXL or the timeline that you are aware of?? Would appreciate any insight you might have as I have been a week trying to figure out why it isnt switching. Arggg! Thx Much Chad

Great, review! I have one more question, I play hard rock and heavy metal, so, you can imagine that the noise gate is very important for me, even when I'm not using pedals, only the lead channel of my amp. So, where should I place my noise gate pedal here? it's a TC electronic Sentry. I can't find the answer to that question nowhere. Thanks for you great reviews!!

Hi man, did you ever witnessed any issues while connecting a moogerfooger pedal to this switcher? I'm actually having some trouble with my mf-101...whenever I engage a preset that involves it, the sound gets extremely damped and moving the knobs on the pedal itself makes almost no difference (yes, the pedal is working flawlessly when not connected to the pxl). Any clues?

How can you not like this video? What a great product and demonstration. I will get one of these bad boys when I have a better guitar and amp (it will take some time). I really like this guy, he is very thorough and quite funny. Subscribe and like - CHECK :-)

Great vid, I've ordered PXL live and I'm looking forward to have it in my pedalboard. But I have some other question. How do you power your Strymon's in this board? I've read, that the Timeline needs almost 400mA, and Flint/El Capistan 250mA each.

Hi, according to Strymon, Time line needs 300 and Flint 250. They come with a power supply each. I use the high mA outputs on my power supplies, the Carl Martin Pro Power has 2 outputs that give you 350mA and the Joyo Power Supply 2 has 1 that has 300mA, that means on my board I only have to use one of the power supplies provided by Strymon, because the PXL also needs more power. There are also power bricks by Voodoo Lab that are made for digital pedals and only give you high power outputs.

The video is very helpful. Thank you so much for this demo. There's one thing I would like to request. Can you make another video regarding the midi controller? That part of this video where you put Strymon Timeline, Mobius and Bigsky in Channel 1 and then the Marshall Amp in channel 2. Have some demo in saving the presets of the 3 Strymon pedals as well as the amp using the PXL-LIVE, please...

A question: Can the PXL-Live MIDI be programmed to switch channels, EQ and Boost in a Mesa Boogie Mark V 25? If so could you do a video specifically with the Mesa Boogie Mark V 25? Thanks. Great videos!
