This story is probably mentioned further down below, but I don't have time to read through all 518 comments, so I just want to insert the version I heard up near the top as of today. My ex-girlfriend grew up in Cincinnati, OH. Before Jerry Springer got his talk show he was actually the mayor of Cincinnati. While mayor, she stated Mr. Springer was arrested for hiring a female prostitute. The reason he got caught was he paid the prostitute with a check and it bounced. At least, that is the way I remember hearing it.

All i can say is, the show is way more calm then in the old days. One time my mom had enough of my dad watching the show, so she called them up in a very bad southern accent. She said that my dad was sleeping with his step son and it was causing pain in the family. Well...Jerry called us back, it went to VM, basically saying they would love to have us on the show. They just needed some more info. We didn't call them back, but they kept call us. I got the call at one point and I was like look, I don't know anything about this, so I will give your info to my mom. Finally my mom had enough and spoke with them. She explained what was going on. The lady on the phone said, that Jerry Springer show takes itself very serious and it only uses real drama. How dare we waste their time with false information. To this day, I still get laughs out of that story. "Takes itself Seriously" lol

I had a co-worker whose cousin went on Jerry Springer just because she wanted to fight some chick and she heard that if you're on the show you can beat someone up and not get arrested. However, it turned out that the other chick kicked HER ass, and now it's recorded for posterity.
