DiMA really is the manifestation of everything the Brotherhood has said about the synths. Spoilers ahead.The Railroad wanted to liberate them since they're used by the Institute as slaves, that's a noble yet way short sighted cause. The Institute created them because they wanted the perfect machine, Father says as much and he also comments on how "near human structure and AI capability are a dangerous mix" or something very similar, which is hubris at its finest. The Brotherhood see them as tech gone too far, and really given what our player witnessed in the first five minutes of the game compared to the following 20 minutes of the game it's pretty easy to see that tech left unchecked can really cause a day to go south in a hurry. The BoS make an argument early on that if the synths wanted to they could augment themselves and eventually decide that humanity is no longer needed. What did DiMA do exactly? Just that. He started committing crimes for the sake of bettering the lives of other synths. He killed Avery, he played the Children of Atom (A whole other can of crazy but that's a topic for another time) and he basically did everything that the BoS said the synths were capable of doing. The only thing he didn't do was manufacture more synths but given enough time I'm sure it would have eventually led to that.

It doesn't really matter how tightly he clutches his radpearl necklace, or how much coolant he leaks onto his silk handkerchief - his conduct is monstrous, and is probably a demonstration of how the Institute got to where it is when the game takes place (one of the loading screens says the the Institute initially tried to cooperate with the commonwealth). Unlike the Institute however Acadia is actually providing an essential service to the community at large. The moral course of action is to turn DiMA in, because the island needs the fog condensers.

i actually finished the storyline and killed the children of atom and then after i turned the last mission in, reported to the BOS and eliminated the synths, I only waited so I could get Kusumi out safely then burned the place to the ground

I know people are going to take this as a reason to hate the Brotherhood even more when in reality its a symple war tactic to keep your enamies heads down. Throughout many wars, armies have attacked groups of their enamies in order to stop something that could become a danger later on. this isn't the Brotherhood being assholes, more them planing their battles smart. another reason they still exist.

True. I often wonder do people forget that the Fallout setting is a post nuclear war setting far-left Liberal ideals have no place in it. If Arcadia or the institute ever get out of hand (which they sort of have) and the Brotherhood don't give resistance, then humanity could be in trouble. Synths at the end of the day are not needed in the Fallout universe other than being the Institute's clone and robotic army with the eventual goal of replacing mankind on the surface, this sort of rings a bell with a certain post-war Government faction who tried to kill EVERYONE! but themselves not once but twice.

Well, if it's okay to do things like this to people and organizations simply because they are a potential threat, then it is also acceptable to blow up the Prydwen. The East Coast Brotherhood of Steel is a potential threat to civilization on the east coast because they have reacquired most of the ideology of their western brethren. Do I need to remind anyone here what the Western Brotherhood did?

Incoming paragraph. I'm sorry. lol Is it okay to do that from your perspective if you side with the RR or the Institute? Yeah, it's a tactic on your part and it makes sense to do so. But in the larger scheme of things I don't believe it's the best path for the sake of the wasteland. The Institute, as I said above, is evil. There is absolutely no justifying it, they are evil. The argument that says "Well, you become the leader of the institute and make them do good things!" isn't really all that accurate. The Sole Survivor can become the Director, yes, but you're directing a compound full of evil scientists who could probably conspire to pull a "For the Watch" on you if they don't agree with you and you try to make them not be a bunch of evil jerkwads. The Railroad is a little more complicated than that. They're not "evil" by anyone's standards but man do they not give a single f*** about humanity itself lol. Synths are a machine "race" created by a bunch of evil scientists to do their bidding. The evil scientists, for whatever idiotic reason, decided it was a good idea to give their race of people snatching robots a borderline AI personality to go along with their ability to be wiped and reprogrammed. The RR thinks it's wrong that a bunch of machines that can think and feel should be forced into servitude from the moment of their creation, and I agree with this, but they also take these reprogrammable machines and wipe their minds and hide them in society. That's probably not the best idea. The Brotherhood, as invasive and inconsiderate as they may be, actually have what I think is the right mindset here. Mind you I play a lot of Mass Effect so when I see the synths the first things that jump to my mind are the Geth, a race of robot slaves with an AI that ran their creators off their own planet, and the Reapers, a group of AI machines that are basically Lovecraftian horrors that make it their point to systematically eradicate all advanced life from the galaxy every so often... Not nice things. The BoS in the east really are different (at least somewhat, I know Teagan is a dick who wants to extort the settlements. I just don't listen to him) than their western counterparts. They cleaned the super mutants and ferals out of DC, they try to do the same in the Commonwealth, they recruit from the public and anyone can join up as an initiate, and the entire reason they came to the Commonwealth was to destroy the Institute and protect the Commonwealth. Are they militaristic jerks? Yeah. But this is a war. Elder Maxson tells the player that the minute you meet him. I know synths have personality and it feels wrong to do what the Brotherhood wants and destroy them, but when weighing the options between that and humanity being wiped out or enslaved or what have you, it actually seems like the real world smart play. And I think that's the point of our ending options in this game. We can side with the Institute and be straight up evil, side with the Railroad and do what you think feels right but know that, besides the player, the RR members really don't care much for the normal humans out there, or side with the BoS and make some pretty tough, and morally challenging calls, for the sake of humanity. No one is perfect, and this story makes you accept that, so you just gotta do whatever you think is right, but that's a little off topic lol.

I love how DiMa says he isn't a threat to humanity and blames humans directly for synths replacing people, and then independently orders multiple humans killed so he can replace them with synths. Regardless of where you fall on the Synth life debate, the brotherhood is right; synths are immortal, have the potential to reproduce at an alarming rate and are fully willing to shit humans to achieve their ends. As a human it is in your best interest to eliminate a threat that could single handedly end humanity. In a world with Synths, humans are no longer at the top of the evolutionary pecking order and will suffer so long as they exist.

They could never be more wrong. They blew up the entire Commonwealth institute, that just set them back technologically. They could have kept the facility operational, and eliminate any tech used to create synthetic beings, or mutations. Then use the tech scrapped from those departments in the institute to create better uses of technology, but no let's just kill everybody who opposes our goal instead of allying others to help form a common goal to bring the world together. That's okay, that's why I like the Enclave better.

You can save Kasumi by keeping the secret about the Rouge synth and get the loot from her dad by taking her home and then go kill them after you play the DLC which is way better in my opinion

I destroyed acadia with BoS after i got kasumi out of there, she was the only one that i wanted to save. Also i hate the monsters there so giving BoS the intel so that they go to Far Harbor is probably a efficient way to clear the island too, i can imagine lots of vertibirds spraying bullets all over those things

You can wait until after you complete dima’s quest to tell the brotherhood or synth ... that way you won’t lose the mega xp from those quests

well I say BOS ending is best ,The BOS at least try to help Far harbor from what I gather (helpful Helpful) and will not take dima apart for no reason (LOOKING AT YOU INSTUTE) moreless the BOS at least give quick deaths to their foes rather then play with them like RR or Instute

Pretty cool. Never chose this ending so it's nice to see it. The messed up thing is dima is not ultimately a good synth. He did replace people so that he could "guide" them better toward doing the right thing.

This quest bugged out on me. After speaking with Larsen and initiating the attack no one actually showed up at Acadia, I had to do the whole thing solo. I was still able to complete the quest but doing it alone doesn't exactly have the same feel

ESO the options for telling the Institute, BoS and Railroad come up once you find out Kasumi went to Arcadia on the holotape safe. they appear in the Misc section in the quest log

I am exactly the same way. I talked to Knight Larsen and he told me they can’t engage until they get the green light for it. But if I talk to Captain Kells or Elder Maxon they don’t say anything about it so I can’t start the raid:( If you ever figure it out let me know

OK so I talked to Kells, chose the "Synth named DiMA," "Establishing a settlement" and "Fortified location" conversation options. Kells replied with the whole "You were right to bring this to my attention... we'll need time to re-fit vertibirds... gather additional intelligence" lines. But the Search and Destroy quest didn't trigger. What am I missing?

I remember my very first playthrough of FH where you tell dima that youll reserve judgment before telling the BoS about them later after completing the FH main quest DLC. i did that and got the BoS to not attack Acadia. cant remember how i did it though

Didn't get the option to say I was in the Boss, but instead got an option to say I was with the Railroad. I guess it's whatever faction you join first, and I ended up joining the Railroad just to be able to do the quest to get ballistic weave. It still lets me go back and inform Captain Kells as and start the Brotherhood takeover scenario.

In wasteland the AI that held all the nukes went sentient and wanted to kill all humans to make room for robot kind both games thr main enemy is a rogue AI the last one took place in Arizona and California the AI wanted to force all humans to become cybrogs

Yo, ESO. Just like to point out that the option DOES pop up in game and becomes an active mission under Misc. Like all F4 missions you can't complete it or even get npc's to acknowledge it unless you have it marked as active. You can also complete this ending even after having finished the main storyline for the DLC. I chose the Synth option of replacing Tectis and could still complete this.

I've played this on two different PC's now and it bugs out every time. Nothing happens when I report them to the Brotherhood. No quest starts and no one shows up to destroy the place.
