Thank you for doing their "Ocean" line. As part of a food allergy troubleshooting regiment, we switched our 12 year old Coton to the "Cod/spelt" formula, which definitely helped(because of it being exclusively fish as the protein). After watching your videos however, we realized that specific product was a bit too high in protein, so now we have her on Farmina's "Quinoa, Herring Skin & Coat" formula. With a protein level of 23%, it seems a much better match to her age. Thanks for all you do.

Thank you for all your videos! So much useful information. I have 2 "large" breed dogs: a standard Bernedoodle (~78lb) and a Golden Retriever (~65lb). My Golden seems to have a sensitivity to beef, so I have been feeding them NutriSource Large Breed Trout with Grains. After your review of that brand, I am on the hunt for a different food now :)

Thank you for these videos. The Farmina food I have found say they are made in Serbia or Brazil. Im just wondering if this is safe? Do they have the same standards for dog food there?

Thank you for your videos, still looking for the best senior food for my 8-year-old service Lab, I have spent hours online looking at all the different foods for senior dogs, I need help PLEASE, I thought senior dogs should get lower protein but most of the foods have high protein? I know you like the Hills, but my dog doesn't and makes her sick. I spent hundreds on different foods and can't even give them away shelters won't take open bags. I found this food low protein, low Cal, Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Large Breed Senior. Can you look at more senior food.

Hi, i think that the problem with the calorie calculation for the puppy food is that the farmina chart uses projected weight at maturity and not current weight (which is used in the RER chart)

Other than one on the food bag, is there a list of food trials accessible? AÀFCO tells about trials but no list of which foods have been tried. TY

AAFCO just regulates what can be on the labels. They don’t keep track of what the labels say, they aren’t a nutrition organization, they are a label claim regulation body.

We have an 8 week old lab coming home in 4 days! What in your opinion is the best large breed puppy kibble for his overall nutrition. We are currently looking at Life's Abundance, only because the breeder says she uses it for all her dogs, but we know less than nothing about what to look for in a dog food.

Hello! Have you heard about scandal in which arsenic was found in framina products upon entry into Russia. and framina later confirmed the presence of arsenic in tue Ingredients. And now I’m wondering what does it mean if it truth

I’ve not heard it and I can’t say what happens in other countries unfortunately. I only invest thought into substantiated claims otherwise you get fought up in gossip like the whole Purina business. No facts, just people being people.

Thank you so much for video! Sorry for the off top question but what would you say about home-cooking food diet for a dog? It drives me crazy, one of my vet doc said to feed a puppy porridge+beef chunk+carrot and said it’s enough, another vet doc said we just have to switch to a kibble. A lot of people around tell me that real food diet is the best way, but I am not sure I can combine all necessary nutrients together. But after all these discussions I became suspicious that all that big companies are just lie about their ingredients. So despite all research I’m still on the middle of nowhere 😵‍💫

I think that home cooked can be done right ONLY if you get a boarded veterinary nutritionist to consult and help you formulate it. It’s actually a really common service that they provide, sometimes even remotely. But yea, if you don’t formulate your homecooked diet correctly it will likely be worse for your pet in the long run than a properly formulated commercial diet of virtually any kind/quality. You can find a boarded vet nutritionist at ACVIM.org

Based on the information from you and my vet, I decided to switch to the kibble. I have a 5 month puppy of small breed and I’m living in Vietnam currently, not much to choose from from big popular brands, but here is what I am choosing from for puppy: the taste of the wild (grain free options only), ancestors grains nd Framina, and prime Framina (grain free), and based on info from you that’s grain free is bad, I probably should pick Framina with ancestors grain… I can’t believe I am almost done with choosing the right food for puppy 😵‍💫 it truly drives me insane. Thank you so much for all your video, it helps me to understand the market and info on the bags

I would absolutely consider feeding farmina given the nutrient profiles they put up. I consider many brands good contenders, in fact all the brands in my 7+ playlist are solid choices for the typical well pet. As my pets age, I consider many factors, and I encourage everyone to consult with their personal vet to make the right choice for their individual situation. In reality what I would consider for my personal situation, may not be relevant at all to yours. My main goal is to give you the tools to have that Conversation and make intelligent and logical data driven decisions.

Been feeding Farmina to my 7 dogs for quite a few years now. I buy the wild boar/apple, cod/ pumpkin/ orange, and the weight management for my diabetic dog. All three of these have the lower calcium and phosphorus I believe. Thank you for your videos 🐶💜

Even if a food gets say 8/10 - shouldn’t it just be a No overall because it’s grain free? Or can grain fee safely be fed? I’m so confused by the “grain” free debate. Or is it safe for some dogs and not others? I have a large Rottie. My dog absolutely loves like sweet potatoes - so he may like a food like this. Also, do you stay away from foods with any form of Peas? I notice it’s in his royal canin now. What is exactly meant by “grain free” does that mean it has like no rice, corn, etc in it?

Ok I googled the meaning of grain free, I guess why are grains so important for dogs if they are still getting a balanced food that has starch, veggies, protein, fruits etc. so so confusing

It a problem because what they use as a substitute for grains (legumes) inhibits taurine absorption resulting in heart disease. Yes for me grain free would be an automatic no, but I’m not your vet and I realize not everyone agrees with that sentiment.

I use Honest Kitchen grain free dehydrated beef dog food. No,legumes, soy,wheat The only kibble my vet recommended was open farms.
