I can't believe this is based on the director's life. Now the man has grown up and become successful despite everything he went through. Shows that there is hope for anyone no matter what! Inspiring! ❤️

Trying to erase anyone's culture is a stain on every one else's culture. Thinking lighter and whiter is better and darker is bad. To make children feel ashamed of what God has made them is horrible. It is our past and present. It does not have to be our future. Everyone of us can change for the better.

Looots 13 wth are you talking about, stuff like this actually happened. You can’t compare a fictional character with an event that actually happened and that continues to happen today. Grow up and move out of your moms basement.

@Loots 13 Telling a horrible truth vs. modernizing a fictional character from a novel is simply not to be compared. I am a huge fan of Ian Fleming's James Bond, but I do not mind 007 being portrayed as a black female at all. I do mind a young black child hating himself because he is treated like an animal for being black. That I have a problem with.

Everyone should watch this type of movie - it SHOULD depress you, it SHOULD bother you, it SHOULD make you question the state of things. Don’t say you can’t watch, because you actually can and do see this stuff already. This horrible behavior is still here among us and a movie like this is trying to shine an even brighter light on the ugly parts of humanity that we need to reconcile within ourselves. This is also not just one person’s fight, it affects us all - including watching bystanders who think it doesn’t apply to them, until it does. Sorry for the rant but no one should be keeping their heads in the sand. Be kind to each other, we’re all we have.

I’m really looking forward to watching this movie. For those of us born during a certain era, being fostered by white families was common. Our parents were students. To them it was a form of childcare (it sounds very crazy). Some were fortunate to be placed in good homes, some not so fortunate. I went back to Nigeria with my family when they finished schooling. But some were left behind in the United Kingdom to face a racially charged environment without a grasp of their true identity. I can’t even begin to imagine what life must have been like for them. Hopefully, it would give the younger generation some insight into our past to ensure they never forget the emotional trauma those before then put up with. Kudos to Adewale.👊🏾 👏🏾

Props to all the actresses and actors that truly brought light to this story. I definitely wasn’t excepting for this movie to be like this.

This is depressing... I’m married to a white guy.. I’m going to live in Greece in a few months.. he always tells me that 80% of Greeks are kind of racist especially with interracial dating and if his parents were alive ,they would’ve disowned him for marrying an African. I’m second guessing having kids with him because I’m afraid they will be bullied and profiled. Other than that he is the most amazing man I’ve ever met. What a world we live in.

My life in Greece is definitely going to better in terms of standard of living. I really don’t care if people are racist towards me because I’m a grown up and I’m aware of the realities,it’s just pretty scary to have to worry that I want my kids to have a better life outside my country but I don’t know what lies ahead. I did talk to him about it,but he doesn’t think it could be that bad for kids though I completely disagree. •Hypnos •

Well if you choose to marry and have children with your enemy you should be prepared for the consequences.

@@elleno4119 Did he grow up in Greece? If so, I would trust his judgement, as obviously he is well-versed in what it's like for kids of color there.

1st trailer in 2019 to ever make me cry, it sobbed when that little boy started hating his natural complexion after hearing one of those ignorant adult women gossips😢😢😢😢

We never know the pages of someone's history, we just see the finished product. WoW. I remember his acting from Oz and said he is a great actor. Not sure if I have the mental capacity to watch this movie especially in our current state of affairs in the world. I applaud you for bringing your story to the world. Kudos sir 👍👍

I’ve been waiting for this to come out since I heard him talk about his up bringing on his interviews. Amazing story that needs to be told. My mum came to London from Nigeria and grew up in one of the whitest neighbourhoods in London. Edgware. She got her face dragged across the floor in school because she was black. There were only 4 blacks in the whole school

I have never wanted to set a trailer on fire like I did this one. I am sure that the acting is stellar in this film, but there is no way for me to watch it and not want to shatter every pane of glass within a five mile radius.
