I appreciate his attitude about the Squat machine. I do the same thing, and I feel empowered when I know exactly what else to do if someone is in my way. On to plan B or Plan C, etc...I won't be stopped

I know this is an older post but I’m watching a playlist so it came up. I love watching your videos. You’ve inspired me to eat more plant based and be creative with it. I know you say you’re not really a fan of leg day, what if you incorporated a nature leg day. You did a video on upper body exercises you could do outside, what about lower body? I imagine the woods would be a great place to try! Just a thought. Again, love you and Crystal. You guys rock!

You should try adding in glute ham raises on leg day! It's a great compound movement for glutes, hams, and lower back. It'll help you add strength on your squats too.

Does your diet change much according to the seasons? The meals you show, which look awesome by the way, look more suited to the summer season. What would you recommend in the winter. I try to very loosely follow macrobiotics, and interested in this topic. Great vids by the way, I love your infectious enthusiasm for a healthy lifestyle ! Keep going 😊

Hey Derek, I must admit of all the KZfaq notifications I get on my phone, yours are the only ones I don't dismiss to follow up at a later time. Was at my kids swimming lessons and a 'notification' about a new video. A few hours later and have managed 15 minutes of peace and quiet and watched it. Great video as usual. Would love another more detailed one about your fasting schedule? Or is it casual whenever suits fasting? Cheers

It's a pretty casual fasting schedule. I am not super rigid about it. I try my best to have dinner by 7-8 pm (at the latest) and fast until the morning when I do my workout. I try to get out of the house early and workout so I get home by 10-11 am and break the fast with my smoothie. I drink water at the gym and feel great. I just make it work for me and it may not work for everyone. I don;t really think of it as fasting, I just feel the best working out in the morning fasted. Simnett Nutrition Great to hear - as I try to do a similar thing (and I don't call it fasting - I call it eating less! ☺). My schedule with kids is crazy, and I try and make my green smoothie every day and take it to work and leave in the fridge and sip all morning. Keeps me from snacking on crap.

You should try the Silk Nut Protein milk for smoothies! Quick way to add some calories and protein, especially in a smoothie. It's pretty much just almond/cashew milk and pea protein.

Hey Derek! I've been absolutely loving your smoothies. I make them day and night. I dont get tired of them. I heard you mention in a video that I now can't find that you drink your smoothie slow. Is this so your body and can break down the fructose into glucose better so you dont store it as fat? I'm wondering because I often down the pants right off of them. Mostly due to my busy schedule. My question to you is.... Should I drink them slower to avoid gaining unwanted body fat?

I'm a little over 5'6" and seeing you kill it gives me motivation! Been vegan for about 2 years now but have not been consistent in my workouts. I think one issue is not eating enough calories when I work out. Its so hard to pack in the food when I'm full! Look forward to more videos, may reach out for advice in the future!

Hey Derek. Any tips on increasing my appetite/ability to consume more? Even when I work out regularly I can't eat much more. I guess my stomach's just small and if I force myself to eat more I just feel shit. I also just get kinda bored of eating.

Hey I workout at 6 in the morning , I drink a large mug of smoothy (inspired by your recipe) after . Then I go to college , I don’t eat a lot for lunch and dinner . My question is should I stick to lemon water before workout ? Or should I eat something when I get up ? I do feel energised but I don’t know if it will help muscle growth

Hey man, I'm a new subscriber and I've had about 1.5 years under my vegan belt. I just wanted to let you know that the videos you are putting out are awesome! Your content is always super informative; I always learn something new with each post. I wanted to ask you, in reference to your physical composition, is there a ratio of cardio to resistance training that you use specifically to achieve your results? I try to incorporate equal parts of each but sometimes my resistance training gets an edge over my cardio. I do these workouts 5-6 days a week roughly 1.5 hours a day.

I do far less cardio than you would think. Just some light runs before my workouts and the occasional fun bike ride or trail run once a week. Definitely like 75% of my efforts are resistance training. Good question! Keep it up, I bet you are doing awesome.

I'm interested in the ergogenix protein but I can't seem to find it anywhere on their website or anywhere online for that matter. Do you have any info on where to purchase the product? If not, do you have a favorite plant-based protein powder you'd recommend that is readily available for purchase?
