You need to lay your flooring plank flat on the EZ Shear base or it will cut a beveled edge and not butt up to the next piece correctly and leave a noticeable gap.

Where are you using a cut edge against another piece of flooring? They all lock together and you can’t cut the connecting edges or you lose that.

If you had to install LVP in your personal rental house, what brand do you recommend? What holds up the best, you seem to install a lot of this.

I use Smartcore Pro primarily. I’ve had bad luck with some cheaper styles and with Stainmaster in particular. Smartcore Pro has the nice backing on it, nice thick tongues and is very solid. Also not cheap at around $3.58/sq ft. We put it now in all our rentals both personal and ones I manage. It’s just better long term

So when the plumber sets the flange, he will screw the flange down through the LVP. Will it tolerate being screwed in place like that? I would think it would be better to cut a larger hole so the flange could sit down on the subfloor and not interfere with the laminate?

It’ll be cut around the new flange. He’s supposed to just mark it and I’ll cut it in for him at that time. I still have a lot to do in this house. Installing cabinets and quartz today actually.
