This little 12th scale truck is one nicely made desert truck. Wish it had oil shocks but doesn't perform that bad without it. This truck may have changed my mind about Feiyue. It's a great truck so far. I forget to show the children mode and full power mode that's switchable via a key on the back side of the transmitter. This run was on full power mode. I also got one of these and I'm actually quite impressed by the build quality. I put in some cheap oil filled shocks with relatively soft springs, lightweight oil and very low rebound. It improved handling very much and without the sway bar installed it's even better. Way more suspension travel. A really cool truck. 2s is the way to go with this imho though.

An my Favorite to Rig to date ... Fayee has duplicated the losi in a scaled down version... SUPER SICK !!!! Love to get a clear body for this and Custom paint to mach your favourite driver rig ... It's my go-to truck for doing silly things for quite a few months now! It's slow in standard form and it handles appallingly... Having said that, 4 shorter oil shocks really save the day, it runs like a dream on 3S and it becomes a really good truck with only a battery change! Keep the standard battery for smaller vehicles, it's pathetic for this size of vehicle... I eventually fitted a 2845 motor and a 30T gear which fried the ESC, that is perfectly normal considering... Fitting a 120A 4S ESC now, other than that it's quite reliable. Just remember to use thread lock and heat shrinking tube over the prop shafts everywhere... Lowering improves those nasty shaft angles, protecting them.

i have already one..well not the same but everything same except mine its called Desert Eagle. very nice car. about 25km/h.brushed motor. almost idiot proof(realy hard to brake while driving). just need to buy a way better 5 wire servo. awsome vid man..love to drive together with you

Oh man this thing is giving me some serious nostalgia reminding me about the Duratrax Evader DT that I used to have back in 2011. It was such an awesome little truck. I should never have gotten rid of it. Check out the big squid RC durability test for the evader DT on KZfaq. It was a great truck. They are extremely rare now

Loved mine and then on the third week of ownership . . . tires started to lose the bead (glue gave up), rear driveshaft threw a pin at the universal joint. I used the "spare" tires and fixed the driveshaft and the problems subsequently repeated - except that I ran out of spares and ways to fix the issues. Then I ordered a replacement driveshaft.. Unfortunately the replacement died even faster (same issue, the pin in the universal joint widened the hole and kept falling out). Next I ordered a heavier duty driveshaft. Subsequently the rear differential stripped. Simultaneously the shafts in the rear shocks bent (note, no jumps were more than 2' tall). All within 4 months of taking ownership. That said, love running it when it is at 100%. I chose the blue truck. Perfect for my backyard short course. I did change the radio to a Dumbo radio with giro unit which really helps control when drifting it. I'm wondering if the brushed trucks are a little more reliable since they don't have quite the power. The FY-01 seems to have a better track record.

I had that experience with my front left front driveshaft on the 6x6. The pin came loose and jammed the front wheel. This one seems to be taking some abuse but time will tell for sure.

This vehicle kills the shafts because of their weird, steep angles. Lowering the truck by at least 1cm helps - don't forget thread locking everything... Heat shrinking tube over the shafts also helps. There are some reinforced diffs available, and the standard ones are pretty cheap... Waiting for parts is my greatest problem, but so far I've been able to find everything I needed...

I always wrap tape around my driveshafts where the pins are so I don’t lose them.

@@robsrcinsanity1220 once the pins started falling out the rear driveshaft was done. There is an aluminum sleeve meant to hold the pins in the driveshaft universal joints. It wraps around an aluminum shell/housing which holds the pin via two small holes. On my driveshafts the holes were wallowed out while running which allowed the pins to fall out through the inside of the universal joint. Once the holes were wallowed out repairs involving replacing the pins would only last a minute. Losing the pins became mute point.

It's a decent truck for the price,, but when all is said and done,, you can't beat the Traxxas 2wd for about the same price and far less issues. When you do have issues, the local hobby shop has ALL the replacements in stock most of the time. And it has oil filled shocks that are dang good stock actually. Sure it's a brushed motor,, but with the trade in option for zero dollars right now,, it's a no brainer. Sorry Feyue,, Love your older deals, and being brushless is something to consider,, still choosing the Traxxas over you every time. Although I like the originality of the body style. There are SO many body upgrades on Amazon for 30 bucks....... hmmmmmmmm Still a Traxxas fan for durability. I've TOTALLY TRASHED my Slash 4X4 AND have yet to break anything. Unbelievable durability. I know I'll break something soon,, but I also know the local hobby shop has me covered. Not a paid endorsement. Just honest experience told here.

My buddies brushless modded slash 2wd is at my house with snapped chassis, blown shocks, worn out driveshafts, and in need of all bearings replaced. I could probably make this feiyue last me longer than he can make his slash last him before needing another repair. That traxxas would still probably be in one piece if I where its owner. It really is on the end users way of running and maintenance on how things last in my opinion.

I did not expect it to have such a impressive cage and chassis build and fitment. Feels quality, substantial and worth every penny. Really liking this desert basher.

Definitely do a 3s running video, we want to know if it will hold up! I’ve converted a fy01 to a 3300kv 3650 sized using a wltoys a959b motor mount. I keep spare diffs and metal driveshafts but it rolls 45mph all day! I’d love to see this on 3s before I splurge and pick one up. You’re awesome 👍🏻🍻

only problem I have had with this rig is the drive pins in the driveshafts like to slip off and may be lost. Some just tape around the pins to prevent that happening. I use a little dab of superglue on the end of the pin then slide it back in place and have been good since. 3s is a blast and I run it exclusively now on thos truck.

It will take 3s no problem.. I ran it with 3600mah 3s lipo for 3 months without any issues before changing into a more powerful esc and brushless motor. I do suggest using a smaller battery tho for 3s since the rear will be very heavy and add some front counterweight.

seem to be ok on a 2200mah 3s lipo. Stable weight and jumping level still.

@@RunThatRC yeah.. I changed to a 2200mah 3s lipo and put that 3600mah 3s on my 1/10 crawler instead.. I do suggest adding some slight weight on the nose and it will be super stable.

I've been running 3s on mine and the axles seem to take it ok. I did have pins come loose but i just glued them back and been good. my friend did manage to reck his but he was trying to rock bounce it.

I like the way you protected the outrunner on the 6x6, though I can´t figure out how you fastened the cloth to the plastic chassis tray. I have enjoyed great success using a sock as an air filter element on my Honda XL185 motorcycle. They´re versatile! This truck does look very interesting, as long as 3s doesn´t cook the ESC. !8mph isn´t really fast enough, but 27mph certainly is! I´d certainly like to see it on 3s with oil shocks, driving on fast, fairly smooth "scale" desert racing terrain.

I used hot glue to fasten the sock to the chassis and plastic cover I added. Used hot glue to seal around the whole outrunner. I think after the hot glue dried I tried to pry it off and it held well then I lined the chassis to plastic cover and sock to chassis with superglue after that for redundancy. I ripped one pack 3s 1550mah around 20mins and it still seems fine. Oil shocks would be welcomed definitely.

I use my main charger but adapters are available. You can get them relatively cheap on Amazon.

it does have waterproofed electronics but I would not advise running in salt water. It's just bad for the rc in general. Rain and puddles are pretty much your safe bet.

for this run in the video its using a 2600mah 2s lipo. But I like running it on 3s 2200mah. Rips pretty good.

People say it's Wltoys 12428 with different body. Is that true? I'm thinking about getting one because of lot of cheap Wltoys 12428 parts.

its like the wltoys but its exactly the same chassis as a feiyue fy03. Tons of parts availability for these trucks.

That 6 wheel is NOT an outrunner. It's an inrunner or you couldn't add those FILTERS to it. An outrunner has the outside of the can spinning. An IN runner has the inside of the motor spinning.

The 6x6 has an out runner motor exactly the same as the fy08. I surrounded the whole motor with plastic and cloth for air circulation. So the motor is spinning inside that enclosure.
