Ferrari 365GTC4 Carburetor Cleaning

A 365GTC/4 came to my shop not running very well. I diagnosed it to be non functioning accelerator pump jets, so a full strip down was needed. A longer version of the carburetor tear down can be seen here:

That beat up air filter would be plain scary to remove! Worth all the work though, it sounds amazing!

I used to have an old BMW with a (single, dbl. barrel) Weber carb. When I put the car away for the winter I would disconnect the fuel line before the fuel pump and run the carb dry, occasionally stabbing at the gas to purge the accelerator pump. It looks like the owner didn't do that before letting this Ferrari sit. The result was a complete carb rebuild. Fun video to watch. I don't know how you keep track all of those little parts to rebuild!

C/4s sound soooo good. Wow. It’s almost worth the finicky maintenance. I can’t believe Ferrari didn’t paint the front bumpers the car looks 1,000% better with them painted body color.

We had exactly ths same problem with an early Lamborghi Coutach that we had to drive back to the owner. The car was terrible to sit in and drive. I say: Better never meet you heroes. A year later that car burnt to the ground.

What cleaning solution do you use in the ultrasonic cleaner? And what temperature do you run it at and for how long?

I use a special carburetor cleaning solution that comes in a gallon container that I dilute. It’s basically a soap. I run it 40-50c for 15-30 min depending on how dirty they are. Hope this helps.
