The worst part for me is when the little girl tries to tell her mother half way through the film that he didn't do anything but they just think she's in denial.

And it really sucks because it could actually make sense for her to try and make it better even if she had been touched. Her father and Mads are best friends, and she can see that it is ruining their relationship. So even if she had been touched, she might still try to make it better for her fathers sake. Yep in this situation you can’t really call the parents bad because if your kid came to you and told you they was touched you wouldn’t be asking questions either. Little kids are also very confusing so they tend to lie in these situations out of fear.

@L M Way to jump to some weird women hating conclusion. WTF. The movie proves that words are powerful. The movie proves that kids dont understand the repercussions of a lie. The movie proves that kids are easily manipulated and it should take more than rumors to cast judgement upon someone.
@Tuja79

@L M Why do you think that is what we think it proves? It's a movie about one case where the man was innocent and the repercussions of that. The kid diden't lie. She said someting that she diden't understand. The grownups diden't know how to properly handle it. But the evidence showed that he was innocent. It dosent mean that all men are inoccent and all women and children lie. Why when your listening to commentary of somebody who is so upset about consistently being looked at as guilty for imaginary things can't you understand that this was a good portrayal of how it is to be falsely accused? Your anoing me as a survivor myself. If that is what you take away from this movie you have no feelings and no heart.

“Not the place for social commentary.” Yo, film, literature, music...art is THE place for social commentary. But I get it, you didn’t want to get too far from watching the movie itself, and I think I know to what you were referring. But don’t hold too much back during these commentaries. Those things you were feeling and the things you were being compelled to say are the purpose of the work. If art didn’t do this to us, what value would it have outside of being a pretty little thing that distracts us for a few empty moments?

She isn’t a villain in anyway she tried to tell them but the listened to the lie over the truth. Obviously James saw it while editing thankfully. I feel like that detail is really important to the films message about how we choose not to believe people when we are afraid. Outstanding reaction regardless. My mom is an educated pedagogue, and has worked at several Kindergartens over the years. She once told me a story about this new guy that came to work there. Young lad, straight out of campus and with a glint in the eye. Charming, caring, and just an over all good guy. All the other pedagogues spoke highly of him, my mom included. Few months later; some parent to one of the girls shows up, and tells the boss that her little girl said she was fondled by this guy. That is all it took. The very same day, whilst they were having a coffee pause, every single one of his colleagues suddenly changed in an instant. Some of them, who had praised him literally the day before, suddenly started talking about "how they always felt there was something strange about him" and shit. Long story short; they do a thorough investigation with various child psychologists for the little girl and police shows up to question the young man over several days etc, and the girl even changed her story herself several times. So the case is dropped. Guess what happened to the young guy in question? Quit his job obviously, and went down with the flag in a heavy depression. Even after his name was cleared, they still sat around talking shit about him. My mom quit a few days later, since she just couldn't stand it. She told me she imagined this happening to one of her own sons, just being blatantly accused like that without evidence and even in the face of having your name cleared through a thorough investigation, people just refused to believe otherwise. That stigma is gonna be with you for the rest of your life. Even if cleared by court, it's still gonna say in your papers that you were under investigation for that sort of thing.

As a guy who works with children (well, unemployed at the moment, but will work at a preschool again), watching this movie is so effing tough. Going through what Mads character went through is something I don't even want to think about. What a horrible nightmare. Working with children is amazing and I'm so happy that I found my way into this profession (took me way to long, but better late than never). Playing with them, teaching them things and just interacting with them will never get boring. Sure, there are times when they are a handful. Doing/saying things that they shouldn't, not doing what you ask them to and so on. But even then, I like it. I might curse under my breath, but it's all part of the job. Every time I have to deal with something less great a child does, it's another step forward for the growth of the child. They might get in a fight over and over again and I'll be there telling them that it's not okay and tries to talk to him/her about it every time. One time, ten times, hundred times, a thousand times. They might still get into their 1001st fight after that. But I keep planting those little seeds and one day they will grow and bear fruit and the child will stop getting into silly fights. I might not get to witness it, but that's okay. Kids are amazing. Slightly less so that one time when a five year old, after I've worked with him for a few months, had to ask me if I was a man or a woman. The reason for him asking was, in his words, because "well...you do have a beard (I do have a long beard) and men have them.......but you also have boobs".... Sure, I am a bit rotund, but ffs kid!

I am utterly convinced that the one shooting at him in the end is Klara's brother. He looks at Lucas a bit weirdly at the "Rite of Passage" scene and it's also really poetic since he showed Klara the iPad with the "hooker rod" which she later mentions in the movie. Yeah, you had the same idea.

30:15 That's not the first time she confessed. You sort of talked over it, but at 17:59 she already said he didn't do anything, but her mom pretty much tells her Yes he did, you just don't remember. The very understandable fears of the parents are so strong that they almost goad Klara into believing the lie and stop listening to what she's actually saying. This isn't on Klara alone, I feel, but then again, what else can you do as a parent but protect your child? The people that should have really come forward are the kids that showed Klara that video. They must know that that might have played a part, and they could have been instrumental in figuring out what really happened

Doesnt mean situations like those don't exist. I've watched and read numerous accounts online of men losing everything over allegations. The internet/media can be terrible but its also where we can get evidence, receipts, knowledge of the subject. I'm not saying men being falsely accused happens all the time but it does happen l. Saying "Without using the internet" is weird. You're not arguing the facts, you're arguing peoples memory of the facts. This doesn't happen to most men, but it does happen and to enough of them. Even after proven innocent, a lot of these male students accused of rape then have to prove to the University or College that they are deserving of a second chance, despite never having done anything wrong. @@cfbg I knew a guy who was accused of rape. both me, the guy (lets call him Alex), and the accuser (lets call her Lisa) were 18/19 at the time. I wasn't good friends with Alex, he was more a friend of a friend. Lisa I knew only by reputation, though I saw her at school. Alex was beaten half to death one night. I heard rumors that it was friends of Lisa's, but Alex never reported it to the police. He stopped going to school from then on. By then, all my friends were trashtalking him (some of whom were his friends before the accusation). I was a little more skeptical, but I never stood up for him and told people they should wait and let the court figure out if it was true. I kinda wish I did. A month later, Lisa accused another guy of rape. But he had been at a small houseparty that night, with half a dozen people to back up that he never left the house. The cops decided that there wasn't any evidence for either "rape" and there was no trial. It was generally agreed upon in my circle of friends that Alex had been falsely accused, and so we started trashtalking Lisa instead. But Alex never came back to school. He moved cross-country not long after that. No idea what happened to him after that. But years later I still met people my age that were convinced he was a rapist. Lisa would go on to accuse another man of rape, which was proven false. She didn't get punished for her false accusations by the law, but I heard her mother forced her to go to a psychiatric facility for a few weeks. No idea what happened to her afterwards. Anyway, yeah these things do happen. In this case, I guess Lisa had some sort of a victim complex, and she craved attention or something like that. That's my example.

I remember at my old High School 2 girls were doing very poorly in their classes, and they hated their teacher. So they ended up telling their parents and the police that he sexually assaulted them. The man was gay, with his fiancé at the time, and he was fired from the school regardless of the fact there was no evidence and the girls even admitted to making it up and all they got was expelled, they just went to the neighbouring high school and moved on as if nothing had happened. Shit makes me so mad when people don't even think or try to understand anymore, it's just listen to whatever someone says as fact and its disgusting.

I'm going to be honest here. My dad tried pulling the same shit. When I was in kindergarten, I had a friend named Joey. We would do stupid shit and try to hit each other in the nuts because we knew it hurt. One day, my dad was wrestling with my sister (he would do it to me too, we would both enjoy trying to out-best our dad). When he got too rough, I ran up and punched him in the nuts. He started asking me where I learned that from, and being a child I told him i learned it from Joey. At the time, I had a step dad named Joe. The same night I did that, I was being interrogated by 2 police officers asking me what Joe did to me. After a while, the cops went away without question. But in the following year, I wasn't allowed to see my mom. That broke me as a child. From then on, I learned that certain words can carry a lot of weight with it. That's why this movie broke me.

Hello, Danish guy here. I'd just like to say that I appreciate your video, and it is very well done with showing exactly enough of the movie scenes for them to NOT be spoilers, in case someone else wanna watch it :) 6:32 It's a bit complicated. Her mom and dad has marriage issues which is taking it's tole on her. Her father and the main charractor are best friends, and she only has good memories/experiences with him, and she don't quite understand how relationships and what not work, she kiss him, most likely just to show she really likes him (but not sexually ofc, it's just a child, but she doesn't know better). 7:16 I can't say that I disagree with you. But I'd still defend her a bit by pointing out that in her age, she doesn't know how life ruiening what she has done is. Besides, a lot of the bad stuff she does/says is from what she knows/has seen from her father and brother. So honestly, everything bad that happens to the main character is because of her cuck dad and shitty brother. 22:50 A shame you didn't comment on this part. For the people who haven't watched the movie (and don't mind the spoiler): In that scene we find out that apparently now multiple children at the kindergarden have come forward and said that they have been touched. But, the "funny" part is that they claim to have been touched in the main charracters basement at his house. And since they all have the same story it makes it seem pretty valid, since lies typically change between people. But then we hear that they police checked his house only to find that there is no basement.. So basically, it's very likely that the assholes at the kindergarden have started to fill the childrens heads with the idea that they might've also been touched. 31:19 I cringed so hard at your reaction. Since well, well you know after watching the ending. So sad. It has the best outcome that can happen, but still, it really shows that there will always be the "but what if it was true though" mentality for people. 32:21 Yeah, I agree that it was likely the brother. But honestly, it could've been a lot of people. I don't have a perfect memory of the movie, but as far as I remember, there were several people who still didn't seem "happy" about him, but yes the brother seems to be the most likely suspect.

This film really hit me in the feels. Anyone who has been falsely accused of crimes despite being innocent and a good hearted person knows how realistic this can be. Even if you’re not found guilty by law the court of public opinion never changes back to how it was before. It’s a really sickening part of society and the harmfulness of herd mentality,. This is why people need to stop being sheep and think for themselves. Mads gave an absolutely amazing and heart breaking performance here.

Great reaction. Love the movie, and how important it is. I think you are too hard on the child though. She does not know consequences, she has no idea what it means, what she is saying. She clearly comes from a home, where she doesn't get the love she needs as a small child. She has experienced how good Lucas is, and that he is kind to her. She feels betrayed, that he doesn't accept her gift, and because of unfortunate events, she makes up a story about Lucas, that she doesn't know the severity of, simply because she is hurt, and hasn't received the attention at home, that she needs. I simply can't blame her for anything, which is why the movie, for me, is even more brilliant.

Like..that’s such a weird thing to make up because you got rejected. Like really weird. I can definitely still put blame on her. More so responsibility on both her and the parents, because she needs to understand what she did. She was not innocent at all through this and I think if we agree to her being so.. it furthers pushes the whole “kids never lie” type of thing.
