Great reaction! The driving force behind most BTS videos is Yong-Seok Choi, more known as Lumpens (which is also the name of his company). He started his career in commercials and moved on to music videos. He has been with BTS since the beginning and knows them really well. He understand who they are as artists and how to translate their music in visual form. He is really an essential part of their success with the universe he was able to create for their songs throughout the years. His masterpiece is "Blood, Sweat and Tears". I am looking forward to that reaction if you decide to watch it (you will need 2 hours to review that one lol) 😄

I was going to point out that. Something that I really admire and like about the team behind BTS is that they are consistent with the people who works with them, like Lumpens or the Ghost Band. Is nice to see that they also grow with them.

I love hearing about the people who have worked with them for a long time (or maybe not as long as this man) that understand BTS, core of all the work they do, and the ability to help them bring their essence and underlying integrity and dedication with which they do all of their work to make the music videos. Thank you Yong-Seok Choi! Brilliant.

Save Me has always been my favourite song and MV. one the things that had stuck with me knowing the behind the scene moments is knowing that prior to shooting they had to practice choreo together with the cameraman and crew for the MV. they even used the same "choreo" and maneuvers during a few of their comeback stages so the performance would look exactly like the MV. much respect for the boys and crew for working so well together

hey jeff! i just wanna say that i would watch a 40-min reaction to a 3-min music video every time if you’re the one reacting! i learned so much from your black swan reaction, especially all the insight you had on the birth of contemporary dance due to your wife’s experiences. so i totally don’t mind if you take your time lol. also it would be cool if your wife saw some of bts’ more contemporary pieces - there are several of them! doesn’t even have to be a filmed reaction (although that would be super cool as well). i just feel like with bts, there are so many avenues of entry into becoming a fan of the group and getting into their music. contemporary might be one of them for your wife. thanks for all these reactions and your genuine interest! 💗

Just have to say that you remind me so much of a younger cuter 😍 Ray Romano.... even your voices are so similar. Loving your reactions - thank you for sharing your BTS journey with us.... The "dancing" the cameraman did in this was insane. Their whole team that works on their MVs is so talented. Next video - as a filmmaker I think you would like Fake Love, I Need You, Blood Sweat Tears.... The director of most of their MVs in named Lumpens. He is a visual artist - I can link you an interview he did before he started with BTS if you like. He has been with them since the beginning (like most of their core staff).... Also, youngest member JungKook directed their Life Goes On MV.

Always love to hear a director's take on this video. The opening scene in Touch of Evil is one of the most famous opening scenes in film history. It's a brilliant long take that is a master class in how to build tension. The tension comes from not wondering what's going to happen, but WHEN it's going to happen. Surprised you didn't mention Scorsese's famous long take in Good Fellas. That long take is used to pull Karen -- and the viewer -- into Henry's world and we see her being dazzled and seduced by it. What do you think the director here was trying to accomplish with the long take?

i love your professional view on these MVs, enjoy every moments and i learn a lot! thank you! Adding some background for the song. The time when they shooting this MV, they didn't have much budgets, so the team just use their skills to creation to make things work. and that actually how they all became so good. in my opinion, this song SAVE ME, it's actually like a bagging to fans for their love and support. similar to the song "i need you". the person they were talking to in the songs, actually were fans. these songs are part of the story line "花樣年華The Most Beautiful Moment in Life", i think its kinda like their last hail mary. when the story line was created, they were under a lot of hatred because of the 2014 album. lots of people thought its too hip hop, considered them as "bad boys" type. the company was in heavy debts, and they still hadn't got any first place - there were several music shows in Korea handing out first place every week, for groups from major three companies almost guarantee would get at least one every new songs coming out, but for small company its very hard even just get one. so they took a risk and went like 180 degree and did something no other idols did before. their PD was actually under a lot of pressure for pushing a story line. even some fans from the time were attacking his decision. they think idols should just wear pretty clothes singing and dancing, shouldn't involve things or emotions that too complected. this opinion comes from lots of asian think celebrities should just entertain people and don't show any personal stand. anyway they were at a very crucial point. both the songs were made for the story but also like crying to fans. they "need" fans to "save" them. (so later when they were in a better stage, they rewind a hook from save me and made another song "im fine" lol its all very connected to their lives) and with the story line's success, BTS finally got their first place place in 2015 with "i need you". two years after their debut. "save me" was in later year 2016, same time period with "blood sweat tears" and "fire". but it and "young forever"(also 2016) still part of the story line. btw, that year they have all these title songs but all completely different vibes... talk about range. 2017 they had "DNA", "mic drop", "spring day", also completely different lol

Thank you for sharing such valuable insight into the process of conceptualizing and shooting "Save Me." I've heard people mention some of the technical aspects of BTS' m.v., but your explanations are particularly clear and compelling. I also appreciate the context your provide, shedding light on the cinematic history of filiming techniques. Hopefully you will react to the "On Kinetic Manifesto" m.v. in the future. It's a fan favorite, which I think you would enjoy for the performance and the filming.

It was filmed in Portland, directed by Timothy Hutton (who was his castmate in Leverage, which was filmed in Ptld, at that time) Filmed at a super Portland dive bar/venue called Dante's. Was an interesting (long) day! Kane has been I a few things besides Leverage-Angel TV series, Librarians TV series, Second Hand Lions, 50 to 1...The MV is worth a watch, it's fun! I’m not sure whether anyone has said that ‘Save Me’ has a musical and performance ‘mirror’ second act in the song ‘I’m Fine’, which appeared a couple of years and three albums later. There are videos on YT which have the pair as a continuous performance, one or two of which show the ambigram at the heart of it. The central idea is one of the keys in the BU (Bangtan Universe). This song goes deeper than it appears at first read. Probably the most extreme and beautiful one shot movie is ‘Russian Ark’ by Alexander Sokurov (2003). 90+ minutes, hundreds of actors, extras and musicians, one Steadycam. Took four attempts over one night in The Hermitage to finally nail it.

You can see the cameraperson running to get to each position.. It's really challenging because it happened real time. I remember watching the first day, the cameraperson took JHope angle a little bit down, so his head a bit cut on the screen. But on the other day, the camera caught it in a perfect angle..

Save me is one of my favorite song , and I absolutely love the MV : the landscape, the light, the rain, the sand , this simplicity, emptiness, sadness witch fit so well with the lyrics. And the shooting sketch really stuck in my head, beacuse it was the first time I realised the team work, and here, specially, the cameraman insane "choregraphy". That's why I follow some filmakers reactions , (besides the vocal coach, dancers or choregraphers) now, it's really interesting to undestand the "behind the scene" , and the technical things. I think you will apreciate Dope MV and shooting sketch, Fake Love MV and shooting sketch, Black Swann also, and , well, there is so much content with shooting sketch ! Fire, Idol, DNA, Blood Sweat and tears, Mic Drop, Run, Lights, Young Forever, Shadow, Ego... Even some live performances are so well staged and filmed, ( and have Behind the scene shooting sketch ) , like the Tonight Show Jimmy Fallon 2021 (Home, Black Swann , Idol, Dynamite, Mikrocosmos) Pure beauty ! . Oh, and another interesting video, for a professional point of view : the "good camera/very good camera" . You know it ? When Big Hit was angry because the boys are badly filmed on Broadcast TV shows. So they did this demonstration to proof their point of view Lol : The Intro Performance Trailer. (the one with the navy uniforms) . Anyway , I enjoy this reaction video ! you're nice, keep going as Jimin said.

Film class is great. I love film noir and having things pointed out about music videos that I probably never would notice. I like watching reactions from editors, filmmakers, producers, dancers and choreographers, rappers who can break down the lyricism, really any good professional analysis. KZfaq can be a good classroom and this is an excellent example of that.

Love the filmclass - You should do a live youtube session to watch "Touch of Evil" - that way you can point out the important filmmaking things to us as we all watch together. Love the fact you reference past movies, etc and inform about these amazing films to people that might not have heard of them. Cinema and filmmaking has some incredible masterpieces that are not well known anymore. Finally - Your T-Shirt 🤣🤣I just cant!! (I don't know if it's intentional or just a difference in english in Hawaii and Australia... but the "hook-line" is 🤣🤣🤣 very clever )

Haha! The shirt is for our movie called, Waikiki P.D. The tagline is an actual line from the movie. It's available on Amazon. Though I am not sure if it is available in Australia Amazon. If not, you can watch it on Vimeo. (warning... the movie is kind of ridiculous)

I can't wait for the behind the scenes reaction!💜 This MV is what made me want to learn their names and faces, because of it all having in one spot I realized I could only recognize RM and Jin's faces and I was mixing up everyone else. Lol, it's so strange to think of a time when I couldn't recognize them all!
