27 year TBI survivor here from a bad car wreck on 3/31/97... I was in the hospital for 26 days and in Physical Therapy for 18 months... I struggle with repeating myself, word finding, poor multitasking skills, poor temper, easily frustrated etc... Post TBI I attempted and failed at several careers-( Special Education Teacher,Car Salesman,911 Radio Dispatcher)... The combination of TBI issues,PTSD issues and Career Failures led to increased depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts... I now have a somewhat decent quality of life... I FINALLY received SSDI-( Social Security Disability Income ) after 15 years,4 appeals and 3 attorneys... I now drive part time for a Car Dealership and Build Model Cars as a hobby... These activities give my life meaning, help me deal with my TBI and PTSD issues and increase my self esteem...

found your content on facebook, your videos help me so much whenever I need a pick me up! my 3 TBIS were from drinking.. i'm an empath too.. and to become apathetic, yes that's something i've felt too.. loss of joy... wow you've gone to the other side.. I did too, with my first TBI.. I saw my body being taken away from a stretcher, it was if I was floating above.. a memory of mine that I know is from the beyond.. i'm sorry about your TBI experiences, however they have made you the person you are today, which is so motivating.. when you talk about dissociation and accountability on compassion, the rage, how it impacts your family.. i love how you surrendered.. you are resting.. i'm trying to do exactly the same with my current circumstances. i'm glad that you took the time off!

My husband had a TBI on the 27th May 2022 whilst away on a break, he left the bedroom in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and instead of going to the onsite bathroom, he went out of the bedroom door and fell headlong down the steep stairs and hit his body and his head off the radiator, i rushed to his aid and found him hardly able to breath, knocked out, and bleeding all over the floor. He was taken to a hospital where they said he had multiple broken ribs, fractured skull, brain bleed, deflated lung etc and then was taken to a more local hospital to us, the ambulance crashed on the way. He then had a punctured lung as well, he was on life support with all the apparatus needed. They said he wouldn't live, he did, they said he would never be able to talk or walk, he does, his balance is not wonderful, he walks bent, he does talk but still gets his words mixed a little, he does read quite well but from the beginning i got him to read outload. Initially he was double incontinent and i couldn't have him home because of the stairs and the care he needed. He was in hospital for 6 months two different ones, then the next 18 months in care, now home in a bungalow. we had no help whatsoever from the UK NHS, refused brain rehabilitation 3 times. only i have really worked with him. . There is virtually nothing in the UK regarding Brain rehab, although recently are having talks with another survivor who is helping people now. I live in the far North East of England, and basically there is nothing here that i know of. I put a word out on facebook about setting up a support group but nothing so far, no one interested.

Oh my goodness. He went through it big time. He will be in our prayers for sure. And you as well. Being a caregiver is no easy task either. I had no idea how bad it was to get care in the uk until we talked to a therapist there who told us all about that. So I definitely sympathize with your situation. He’s come a long way and I pray he continues to heal. God bless.
