G’day Anthony I recently found your channel and I’m so pleased, I’m inspired by how productive your garden is. I’ve been binge watching all your episodes. I’m on the Central Coast and I’m hoping to garden along with you. Can you please let us know what seeds you will be sowing in doors for the week so that I can start mine too and have them ready when you’re planting out. That would be very helpful. You’re awesome, thanks for your content. Cheers Nicole

Thanks for the support Nicole. At the moment I have started off another round of broccoli seedlings, wombok seedlings pak choi seedlings and pea seedlings. I also bought some cabbage seedlings and kale seedlings as I had gone overseas in April and ran out of time to start another round of seedlings. I will also start a final round of cauliflower this week. I’m big on succession planting so I will be planting various brassicas up to early winter, broccoli up to September. I will try to give a quick update in my videos of what I am doing that week hope that helps 👍

Lovely cauliflowers Anthony, I live in Wollongong so didnt knwo the cauliflowers will grow end of summer, I usually wait till mid-autumn usually, have plant some but the dreaded white moth butterfly destroyed all my seedlings, the broccoli they didnt touch, bit funn but I now purchased some netting for my brassicas.

In my patch I try to see how early I can push the seasons I tried this last year and the brassicas responded well. This year I had to deal with the hot weather in Feb and March which was difficult and you are right the pest pressure is a lot higher when you plant earlier. Found pyrethrum in my context is a safe way to deal with the caterpillars.

I have always picked lemons off the tree as needed. Harvesting lemons is a new one for me. Are you going to juice them and freeze the juice for use during the year? Cauliflower looks amazing.

Hi Charles I found that my lemons were dropping off the tree once they ripened so I take most of the fruit off beforehand. My family use a lot of lemons in cooking and salads so a lot of these have gone to my parents and they will work through them. We will freeze some of the juice but generally we will just store them indoors in a cool dry place and they will last a few months. I don’t like keeping the fruit on especially when the tree is starting to flower.

i bought a couple of harvesting knives. they're cheap, with plastic handles, but make harvesting caulis and cabbages etc easy. they're super sharp and i just keep them clean. one of them has a bigger bump/bulge at tip of knife, which is great for harvesting cabbages. i've been looking for premium seed suppliers, best new F1 varieties with good disease packages, but most dont deal with public OR require big orders.

Hey mate look up active vista seeds, they do commercial grade seeds in retail quantities. Most of my veggie seeds are sourced from here. They are a bit pricier than your nursery varieties but worth it. I need to look for these knives

@@sydneybackyardveggies9612 : that's where i got the mesh, tomahooks and clips. not too impressed with their seeds. Rijk Zwaan seeds are premium veggie seeds imo

There is a seed supplier called Petra I’m going to try this year they have a limited line of retail quantity seed varieties going to try their cucumbers

@@sydneybackyardveggies9612 : i'm keen to find root knot nematode resistant varieties of tomato, cucumber and eggplant, since it struck last summer. i dont care for mystical old varieties that easily succumb to disease. all backyard grow veg and fruit are far superior in taste because picked ripe and full of sugars, not because older were sweeter. i mentioned before that i found ActiveVista seed not very good. i've bought from them several times, and found really low germination rates. Also shitty labels and overpriced. i'll check out Petra. Name rings a bell as being a premium seed company.

Have U ever just taken the head of cauli off and let the side shoots grow smaller heads from the same plant... Plus U can eat the leaves and the stack of the plant heaps of vitamins...good in stir fries... Want is the liquid fertilizer U use...!!!😮😮😮

For caulies unfortunately it’s one pick and that’s it they rarely put out side shoots. With broccoli they tend to put out smaller heads. For liquid fertilisier I use powerfeed but any high nitrogen one you can find at Bunnings will work

Lovely caulies Anthony. What did you spray those citrus bugs with? I assume you mean the big stinky black ones (i.e. Bronze Orange Bug -start out green, then orange). I've only heard of Comfidor, which is apparently a pretty toxic chemical that'll probably be banned soon. I've tried spot spraying with fly spray to keep numbers down. Vacuuming them off with an old vacuum cleaner is a good option too (your Mrs will kill you if you use the one from the house 😂)

I find that you can rid or a lot of the stink bugs using contact sprays - pyrethrum or white oil. My trees are too big it will take me a long time giving them the vacuum treatment😀
