This week i am planting out the back part of the main bed with cabbages and other winter greens. Im checking up on the chinese cabbage and making some modifications to the chicken nest boxes prevent egg eating

Great to know brassicas will still grow in part shade, albeit smaller. Unfortunately I get a lot of shade in the winter months from a giant gum tree... not much I can do about it. My broccoli looks a bit lanky, but cabbages seem ok so far.

With broccoli they always produce in part shade but they take longer to produce and the heads arnt as big. But they still produce so it’s worth planting them. Not sure about cabbages though I’m going to try part shade this year and see how they go

good video. sometimes chickens eat own eggs when not enough calcium in diet. chicken grit ground up seashells or similar might work, and certainly helps them anyway generally. had the same problem with wombok this year, lol.

I have shell grit in their pen and they are fed pellets exclusively except for garden waste and some kitchen scraps. The birds are getting old and they are laying thin shelled eggs so they are easy to crack and now some of the birds are actively cracking the eggs

Yeah there are not many big blocks around but the family have been talking about building a new home and pool so I’m not sure how much longer I’ll have access to a big garden 😀

Hi Anthony, Thank you for such detailed videos. Those seedlings look very healthy, do you do anything to them before planting. Where do you buy your seedlings in Sydney? As a new Gardener, I would love an idea of what you will be doing next in your garden at the end of the videos so we can also plan ahead.
