Henry told Josh to get a Sig...so Josh get a Sig...the Sig Spear LT has been a rifle surrounded by a bit on controversy with comments regarding barrel flex, handguard flex, the quality of the trigger, the oddly short and imbalanced stock, and the rockset-ted sig muzzle device. There is *NOTHING* and I repeat, *_NOTHING_* unfounded about expecting a rifle that costs as much as a Sig Spear LT to come with quality furniture and accessories out of the box.

EXACTLY! Every single feature on the rifle should be top notch and the only thing you should have to add to it are a sling, optic, light, maybe laser or IR unit, handguard accessories like grip or handstop. Between the stock, buffer tube and handguard it should have 4 different QD sling cups. It should have a great stock and handguard. It should have a TOP notch trigger. The BCG should be of the best quality. The barrel and gas block of the very best quality. For that money it should come with like 6 high quality mags too. This kind of stuff is why I haven't bought a complete AR since my first one. I build them now or at most buy complete uppers.

I’m still loving my Gen 1 MCX I just upgraded the trigger to the virtus and changed to the magpul stock. No complains outside of the keymod rail but Arisaka defense has all the accessories I needed

@nateh2652 it still uses a buffer tube stock which is unfortunate, a big reason AR-18 style systems are liked it due to the folding stock. If anything a comparison with the Dissent or the JAKAL would be a better idea than the 416. The most comparable gun to the 416 is probably the Remington R series. Yah

My Spear LT required a break in period before it would run on the lower gas setting. After a few hundred rounds it runs everything fine. On the higher gas setting it's pretty gassy and without the break will give you a bunch of muzzle movement. However it does shoot pretty nice on the lower setting even without a break.

Regarding the new Sig's gas block the military issue rifles come with standard and adverse settings while the civilian rifles appear to come with standard and suppressed settings. It should say on the handguard.

The owners manual says your standard settings for all cailbers is your suppressed setting and turning the gas to the right is adverse so yea no suppressed setting

Standard and adverse are the only settings. Sig set up the gas system around their low back pressure silencers. That's why with a regular silencer the Spear is really gassy and you can't fix it without a low back pressure silencer

@@panzerabwerkanone I just want cheap mags for my service rifle. Here in Switzerland you can get a used Stgw 90/SIG SG 550 for about $1500-2000. If you buy your service rifle after your army service its only $100 (you basically just pay for the conversion from select fire to semi-only) This means you can theoretically get the rifle for the price of a single original SIG 30rd magazine.

Honestly I don’t like when handguards have integrated QD cups. Just give me plenty of m-lok and 1913 and let me put it where I want. Plus a lot of manufacturers don’t put steel inserts on the qds that are integrated into the hand guard. So you have your $10 steel qd sling attachment wearing on your aluminum hand guard worth hundreds of dollars. Is it that big of a deal? Probably not. Is it what I want from a rifle I’m paying top dollar for? Definitely not.

I hated the trigger at first on my 11.5 LT but after a few hundred rounds of breaking in it’s a fantastic trigger and actually like it’s not super light personally

Mine came with a Sig Low Profile QD cup that attaches to the pic rail. Works pretty good from my perspective.

I absolutely loved the stock and trigger on my Spear LT, She was a real shooter. Even with the factory flashhider I found it to be a very pleasent, gentle shooter.

Paracord loop around the rail as your front sling attachment. Cheap, quiet, adjustable along the entire length of the rail, field repairable. Frank Proctor nailed it when he designed his sling.

i read the manual on my spear lt for the gas block adjustments, if its tilted left thats for suppressed and unsuppresssed using normal ammo, turn it right its for sub-sonic suppressed and "use in harsh environments unsuppressed" pretty neat

My biggest problem with the MCX is that the rear isn't as nicely sealed as the AR is. I've tuned the gas on my 11.5 by swapping the gas plug to the 16 inch version, got it to the point where it won't lock back on 223 unsuppressed on the (-) setting, and an RC2 is enough to ruin my day. It doesn't even like my Sandman-K, which runs just fine on an AK.

I have one. I love it. I haven't extensively used a ton of LPVOs but of the several I have used it's by far my favorite. The 1x is unbelievably good. The eyebox gets very tight above 6x zoom but it's still usable. I really have no complaints.

I'm not a fan of LPVOs, but every reviewer I want has nothing but praise for the PLX line. Once you get passed the cost theyre supposed to be excellent.

@@mtnbound2764they're underrated and pretty unknown. They've been delivering on their promises of caliber exchange kit and have a much better stock design from the factory, whereas you STILL need to dump money into other platforms to do what an XCR can and has been doing for decades

@@MrCashewkitty i have a friend with a XCR.. its ok.. but ill take an AR over it any and every day. lets be honest, the XCR is a platform that is going no where.. in 5-10 years.. will you be able to get parts for it? even if the company doesnt go under, good luck finding replacement parts for it in a SHTF or grid down scenario.. ar parts are everywhere and you can easily afford to stock spare parts. the XCR is neat, but... im sticking with the AR platform, as should 99% of us out there.

Correct on the gas settings. Without sourcing other gas plugs for the gun these do not have a suppressed setting.

I would support the channel by going to Midway USA, but they sold me a bad Colt Barrel Assembly with a canted A2 post and gas port, but would not trade it, not take it back. ALL done with MidWay!

My virtus came with a QD attachment i could install where i wanted. But my Spear LT didn't, lol. I'm notl sure why they stopped including it. Overall i love my Spear LT and with tne 11.5" model the rail does not flex.

While I'm sure there's merits to the Spear LT, it seems that when it comes to spending $3000 including upgrades you could probably do a just as well for a lot less. Also for a factory new, OOTB $2500 gun, it'd be nice if you wouldn't have a rattling handguard as a "feature".

My personal issue with the original Sigs is that the rubber seals keeping the action sealed are gonna take a beating from that charging handle. Replacing those when they give out looks like a pain.

The Spear LTs have not been getting torqued out of the factory. check the torque on the barrel and handguard and zeroing issues should go away. The Arisaka clamp is mainly there to aid with maintaining zero with lasers and front sight posts. On my Gen 1 MCX I had similar issues with the factory handguard flexing off zero with my front iron sight, but swapping to Midwest Industries solved that issue thanks to tighter fitment and thicker material.

The gas valve at the front has 2 settings, and the + setting is generally too overgassed. There are actually different gas valves for different barrel lengths, and if you ever get a shorter barrel you can keep the valve from the longer one to tame it a bit. Sig sells spares as well, and run such a setup on my 11.5 barrel to reduce backpressure suppressed.

Sig spear is dope but unnecessary. AR-15 is still king due to its standardization. I think id rather go with the CMMG dissent because I like DI. Would love to see a comparison video on the Dissent VS Spear.

Good for you. I’ll stick with the Scars. 7 years of shooting them, no issues. Parts are easy to find and lots of aftermarket support.

Out of them all, id take the HK every day, it's just the best feeling and shooting rifle in my experience. Yours may vary. Id take the spear lt over the scar 16 as well like this guy. Not to say theres anything wrong with it, they are sexy rifles

As much as the Sig cost the trigger should be the best in the world. Literally everything should be top notch. It should come with great BUIS. It should have a fantastic stock and handguard. It should have 4 different sling cups and come with 6 premium mags. I mean SERIOUSLY SIG!!?
