@@zyxwut321 Yeah, well, they have over 200 songs. I have a playlist in iTunes of my favorite songs. There are 30 songs in it, including Rain. I realized 'In my top 30" didn't sound that impressive but I thought maybe one might consider '30th favorite', in a catalogue like the Beatles', wasn't bad. It's my number 16 favorite. How's that?

It's so funny, cause for just about every other group or artist this statement would be ridiculous. But for The Beatles, being in just the top 100 is a strong statement.

An extra wet reaction 🌧☔! I see 👁👁 you have reacted to The Beatles before: Ticket To Ride, Yesterday, I Want To Hold Your Hand, All My Loving, I Feel Fine, Nowhere Man, I'm Down, Help!, Can't Buy Me Love, Twist And Shout, Oh! Darling, We Can Work It Out Now And Then, Eight Days A Week, Hey Jude, Here Comes The Sun and A Day In The Life. Rain was released as a non-album B-side to the A-side single: Paperback Writer in 1966. It was later included on The Beatles' 1970 album: Hey Jude. It was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. It was produced by George Martin. The song reached #23 on the Hot 100 and #31 on the Cash Box 100. John Lennon wrote most of the song. It was his first song to get really deep, exploring themes of reality and illusion - after all, rain or shine is just a state of mind. He described it as being "about people moaning about the weather all the time". The song's recording contains a slowed-down rhythm track, a droning bass line and backwards vocals. Its release marked one of the first times that reversed sounds appeared in a Pop song. John Lennon was stoned at the time, and producer George Martin had to convince him that using a backward recording for the entire song was a bad idea. The backwards vocal at the end fade out is actually the songs first line: "When the rain comes they run and hide their heads". Ringo Starr has said this is his best drumming on a Beatles song. "I felt 'Rain' - that was another character playing drums itself", he told Yahoo Entertainment. "The way I play, I'm more of there's breaks and tom-toms, and ('Rain') was all on the snare. So I used to say that. That drove people mad". The three music videos were directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg. Michael Lindsay-Hogg, who was tapped to direct the music videos because he worked on the UK TV music show: Ready, Steady, Go!. The music videos for "Rain" and "Paperback Writer" were shot at the same time, with some footage recorded at Abbey Road studios, but most of it outdoors at the Chiswick House gardens in London. Those music videos were done so The Beatles could promote the single without actually performing on the various TV shows that drew huge audiences and drove sales. In doing so, they set a standard for music videos, as other bands followed suit. The "Rain" music video uses many elements that would become commonplace, including candid shots from between takes. Authors Mark Hertsgaard and Bob Spitz both recognize the 1966 video promos for "Paperback Writer" and "Rain" as the first examples of music videos. In the case of "Rain", it marked a rare instance where The Beatles prepared a music video for a B-side, later examples being "Revolution" and "Don't Let Me Down". One music video shows the band walking and singing in the gardens and conservatory of Chiswick House in west London, and was filmed on May 20, 1966. The other two music videos feature the band performing on a sound stage at EMI Studios on May 19, 1966, with one being filmed in color for The Ed Sullivan Show and the other in black and white for broadcast in the UK. Paul McCartney was injured in a moped accident on December 26, 1965, six months before the filming of "Rain", and close-ups in the film reveal a chipped tooth. Paul McCartney's appearance in the music video played a role in the "Paul Is Dead" rumors from 1969. The band also promoted the single with a rare TV appearance, lip syncing on the BBC TV show: Top Of The Pops on June 16, 1966. Some other artists have covered the song including 📻: Petula Clark, Todd Rundgren, Randy California, Ann Dyer, Peter Schickele, The Sunshine Company, Steve Marcus, Formatia Coral, Polyrock, Gregg Allman, Barbara Dickson and more. Legacy 🛡: "Rain" was ranked 20th in Mojo's list of "The 101 Greatest Beatles Songs", compiled in 2006 by a panel of critics and musicians. Rolling Stone ranked "Rain" 469th in its list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2010. On a similar list compiled by the New York radio station Q104.3, the song appeared at #382. Critical Reception 🗣: Cash Box described the song as a "soulful, medium-paced, effectively-rendered blueser". Music critic Jim DeRogatis describes the track as "The Beatles' first great Psychedelic Rock song". Song Credits 📝: John Lennon - lead and backing vocals, rhythm guitar Paul McCartney - backing vocals, bass George Harrison - backing vocals, lead guitar Ringo Starr - drums, tambourine Lyrics 🗒: If the rain comes They run and hide their heads They might as well be dead If the rain comes If the rain comes When the sun shines They slip into the shade (when the sun shines down) And sip their lemonade (when the sun shines down) When the sun shines When the sun shines Rain I don't mind Shine The weather's fine I can show you That when it starts to rain (when the rain comes down) Everything is the same (when the rain comes down) I can show you I can show you Rain I don't mind Shine The weather's fine Can you hear me? That when it rains and shines (when it rains and shines) It's just a state of mind? (When it rains and shines) Can you hear me? Can you hear me? The Beatles' earliest musical influences include Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Gene Vincent. They are regarded as the most influential band of all time and were integral to the development of 1960s counter-culture and popular music's recognition as an art form. Rooted in Skiffle, Beat and 1950s Rock 'N Roll, their musical sound incorporated elements of Classical music and traditional Pop in innovative ways; the band also explored music styles ranging from Folk and Indian music to Psychedelia and Hard Rock. As pioneers in music recording, songwriting and artistic presentation, The Beatles revolutionized many aspects of the music industry and were often publicized as leaders of the era's youth and socio-cultural movements. Led by primary songwriters John Lennon and Paul McCartney, The Beatles evolved from John Lennon's previous group, The Quarrymen, and built their reputation playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg over three years from 1960, initially with Stuart Sutcliffe playing bass. The core trio of John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison, together since 1958, went through a succession of drummers, including Pete Best, before asking Ringo Starr to join them in 1962. Manager Brian Epstein molded them into a professional act, and music producer George Martin guided and developed their recordings, greatly expanding their domestic success after signing to EMI Records and achieving their first hit song: "Love Me Do", in late 1962. As their popularity grew into the intense fan frenzy dubbed as : "Beatlemania", the band acquired the nickname: "The Fab Four", with the group's manager Brian Epstein, the group's music producer George Martin or another member of the band's entourage sometimes informally referred to as a "Fifth Beatle". By early 1964, The Beatles were international stars and had achieved unprecedented levels of critical and commercial success. They became a leading force in Britain's cultural resurgence, ushering in the 1960s British Musical Invasion of the United States mainstream Pop music market, and soon made their film debut in the movie: A Hard Day's Night (1964). A growing desire to refine their studio efforts, coupled with the untenable nature of their concert tours, led to the band's retirement from live performances in 1966. At this time, they produced records of greater sophistication, including the albums: Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966) and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), and enjoyed further commercial success with the albums: The Beatles also known as "The White Album" (1968) and Abbey Road (1969). The success of these records heralded the album era, as albums became the dominant form of record consumption over singles; they also increased public interest in psychedelic drugs and Eastern spirituality, and furthered advancements in electronic music, album art and music videos. In 1968, they founded Apple Corps, a multi-armed multimedia corporation that continues to oversee projects related to the band's legacy. After the group's break-up in 1970, all principal former members enjoyed success as solo artists and some partial reunions have occurred. John Lennon was murdered in 1980 and George Harrison passed away from lung cancer in 2001. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr remain musically active in 2023. The Beatles are the best-selling music act of all time, with estimated sales of 600 million units worldwide. They are the most successful act in the history of the US Billboard charts. They hold the record for most number-one albums on the UK Albums Chart (15), most number-one hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart (20), and most singles sold in the UK (21.9 million). The band received many accolades, including seven Grammy Awards, four Brit Awards, an Academy Award (for Best Original Song Score for the 1970 documentary film "Let It Be") and fifteen Ivor Novello Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and each principal member was inducted individually between 1994 and 2015. In 2004 and 2011, the group topped Rolling Stone's lists of the greatest artists in history. Time magazine named them among the 20th century's 100 most important people. ****CONTINUE BELOW****

The Beatles Break Up 🪲🚫: From August 18, 1962 to September 20, 1969 The Beatles consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Their break-up is attributed to numerous factors, including: the strain of "The Beatlemania" cultural phenomenon, the 1967 passing of the group's manager Brian Epstein, bandmates' resentment of Paul McCartney's perceived domineering, John Lennon's heroin use and his relationship with Yoko Ono, George Harrison's increasingly prolific songwriting, the floundering of their music company Apple Corps, The Get Back project (renamed Let It Be in 1970) and other various managerial disputes. During the latter half of the 1960s, the band members began to assert individual artistic agendas. Their disunity became most evident on their 1968 album: The Beatles (also known as "The White Album"), and quarrels and disharmony over musical matters soon permeated their business discussions. Ringo Starr left the group for two weeks during The White Album sessions, and George Harrison quit for five days during The Get Back rehearsals. Starting in 1969, the group split into two camps regarding who should handle their business affairs. Paul McCartney lobbied for entertainment lawyers Lee and John Eastman, but was outvoted by his bandmates in favor of businessman Allen Klein. The final time that the four members recorded together was the recording session for the Abbey Road album's song: "The End", on August 20, 1969. Their final meeting with all four band members present was two days later at a photo session held at John Lennon's Tittenhurst estate. On September 20, 1969 John Lennon privately informed his bandmates at a meeting at Apple, without George Harrison present, that he was leaving The Beatles, although it was unclear to the other members whether his departure was just temporary or permanent. On April 10, 1970 Paul McCartney said in a press release that he was no longer working with the group, which sparked a widespread media reaction and worsened the tensions between him and his bandmates. Paul McCartney filed suit for the dissolution of The Beatles' contractual partnership on 31 December 1970. Legal disputes continued long after their break-up, and the dissolution was not formalized until December 29 1974, when John Lennon signed the paperwork terminating the partnership while on vacation with his family at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. After the break-up of the Beatles in April 1970, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr enjoyed success as solo artists and collaborated with each other on numerous occasions, including on both studio and live recordings. Rumors of a full-fledged band reunion persisted throughout the 1970s, as the members occasionally reunited for collaboration, but never with all four simultaneously. Ringo Starr's song: "I'm The Greatest" (1973) and George Harrison's song: "All Those Years Ago" (1981), are the only tracks that feature three ex-Beatles' members. After John Lennon's murder in 1980, the surviving members reunited for the Anthology project in 1994, using the unfinished John Lennon demos tapes for the songs: "Free As A Bird" (1994) and "Real Love" (1995) as the basis for new songs recorded and released as The Beatles. John Lennon's Assassination 🙏: In New York, at approximately 5:00 p.m. on December 8, 1980, John Lennon autographed a copy of his 1980 album: Double Fantasy, for Mark David Chapman before leaving The Dakota Hotel with his wife Yoko Ono for a recording session at the Record Plant. After the session, John Lennon and Yoko Ono returned to The Dakota Hotel in a limousine at around 10:50 p.m. (EST). They left the vehicle and walked through the archway of the building. Mark David Chapman then shot John Lennon twice in the back and twice in the shoulder at close range. John Lennon was rushed in a police cruiser to the emergency room of Roosevelt Hospital, where he was pronounced passed away on arrival at 11:15 p.m. (EST). After John Lennon's passing, historian Jon Wiener filed a Freedom of Information Act request for FBI files that documented the Bureau's role in the deportation attempt. The FBI admitted it had 281 pages of files on John Lennon, but refused to release most of them on the grounds that they contained national security information. In 1983, Jon Wiener sued the FBI with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California. It took 14 years of litigation to force the FBI to release the withheld pages. The Justice Department settled most of the outstanding issues outside court by releasing all but 10 of the contested documents. Jon Wiener published the results of his 14-year campaign in January 2000 in the book "Gimme Some Truth: The John Lennon FBI Files", which contained facsimiles of the documents, including "lengthy reports by confidential informants detailing the daily lives of anti-war activists, memos to the White House, transcripts of TV shows on which John Lennon appeared, and a proposal that John Lennon be arrested by local police on drug charges". The story is also told in the 2006 documentary "The US vs. John Lennon". The final 10 documents in John Lennon's FBI file, which reported on his ties with London anti-war activists in 1971 and had been withheld as containing "national security information provided by a foreign government under an explicit promise of confidentiality", were released in December 2006. They contained no indication that the British government had regarded John Lennon as a serious threat; one example of the released material was a report that two prominent British leftists had hoped John Lennon would finance a left-wing bookshop and reading room. Michael Jackson Buys The Beatles Music Catalogue 💰: In 1985, Michael Jackson purchased ATV for a reported $47.5 million. The acquisition gave him control over the publishing rights to more than 200 Beatles songs, as well as 40,000 other copyrights. In 1995, in a deal that earned him a reported $110 million, Jackson merged his music publishing business with Sony, creating a new company, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, in which he held a 50% stake. The merger made the new company, then valued at over half a billion dollars, the third-largest music publisher in the world.[475] In 2016, Sony acquired Jackson's share of Sony/ATV from the Jackson estate for $750 million. This purchase by Michael Jackson reportedly strained his friendship with Paul McCartney who wanted to buy the music catalogue himself. George Harrison Passing 🙏: On November 29, 2001, George Harrison passed away at a property belonging to Paul McCartney, on Heather Road in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. He was 58 years old. His reported final message to the world was: "Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another". He was cremated at Hollywood Forever Cemetery and his funeral was held at the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades, California. His close family scattered his ashes according to Hindu tradition in a private ceremony in the Ganges and Yamuna rivers near Varanasi, India. The Beatles Honors, Achievements And Awards 🏅: In 1965, Queen Elizabeth II appointed John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).The Beatles won the 1971 Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for the film: Let It Be (1970). The recipients of seven Grammy Awards and fifteen Ivor Novello Awards, The Beatles have six Diamond albums, as well as 20 Multi-Platinum albums, 16 Platinum albums and six Gold albums in the US.[309] In the UK, the Beatles have four Multi-Platinum albums, four Platinum albums, eight Gold albums and one Silver album. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. The best-selling band in history, the Beatles have sold more than 600 million units as of 2023. From 1991 to 2009 The Beatles have sold 57 million albums in United States according to Nielsen Soundscan. They have had more number-one albums on the UK charts, fifteen, and sold more singles in the UK, 21.9 million, than any other act. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked The Beatles as the most significant and influential rock music artists of the last 50 years. They ranked number one on Billboard magazine's list of the all-time most successful Hot 100 artists, released in 2008 to celebrate the US singles chart's 50th anniversary. As of 2017, they hold the record for most number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, with twenty. The Recording Industry Association of America certifies that the Beatles have sold 183 million units in the US, more than any other artist. They were collectively included in Time magazine's compilation of the 20th century's 100 most influential people. In 2014, they received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. On 16 January each year, beginning in 2001, people celebrate World Beatles Day under UNESCO. This date has direct relation to the opening of the Cavern Club in 1957. In 2007, The Beatles became the first band to feature on a series of UK postage stamps issued by the Royal Mail. Earlier in 1999, the United States Postal Service issued a stamp dedicated to The Beatles and Yellow Submarine. John Lennon posthumously got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1988. The Beatles as a band got their star in 1998. George Harrison got his star posthumously in 2009. Ringo Starr got his star in 2010. Like the band's respective stars, Paul McCartney's star was placed today in front of the famed Capitol Records building in 2012. ****CONTINUE BELOW****

If you get a good look at Paul McCartney's teeth here, you'll see his front tooth is chipped. He was in a moped accident and hadn't got to the dentist yet.

recorded during the ' Revolver ' sessions. a 45 single along with the more typical Beatle tune ' Paperback Writer' - imagine too many songs to put on an album. most bands have trouble getting 3 good songs. I gotta admit, the fake studio lip / play synching is bad. Some would say this was the start of MtV , if that is good or bad....

If anyone but The Beatles had tried to record a song like that it would have been rejected because it has no commercial potential. The Beatles got away with it because when you're that successful you can do whatever you want, no matter how awful the song is. And this song is awful. The joke is they actually convinced people that it was great. In 1966, fans would have bought anything by The Beatles.

You can’t be serious…how is it awful?

@@Alpha_WK No commercial potential? Other bands would have killed to write and play this song. The song is one of their greatest B-sides. It's Ringo's greatest performance as a drummer. The bass is playing it's own lead. The first use of backwards vocals on a song. This is ground-breaking. And it IS great...........

@@priest432 I didn’t say it had no commercial potential. I agree with everything you said. I was responding to the comment above mine. Ps check out Rain actual speed. Absolutely fantastic

@@Alpha_WK No tune. Lame vocal. A beat you can't dance to. No commercial appeal. Nothing good about it at all.
