Yes, this song and Riders On The Storm are both from the masterpiece L.A. Woman album, the last to feature Jim Morrison before his death. One of my all-time favorite albums, and my very favorite Doors song. This was one of Jim's poems. It's not about a woman, it's about the city of Los Angeles, with Jim comparing the city to a woman who's seen more than her share of action in her life. The line in this song is not "riding", it's Mr. Mojo Risin'. If you re-arrange the letters in those three words, you get "Jim Morrison", so that part of the song was about himself.

This is why The Doors are one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Apart from the more obvious blues and folk elements, you can hear the influence of native American music, especially in the 'Mr Mojo Raisin' section and also elements of Indian (Hindi) classical music. Absolutely excellent track.

It is on the same album as “Riders on the storm” - It’s a love letter to Los Angeles- I only lately realized the “I see your hair is burnin’, hills are filled with fire” - is kinda literal! On the outskirts of LA there were a lot of fires at the time.

Jayvon, I love your reactions because they are exactly what the musicians wanted to see. They want you to FEEl it as well as HEAR it!! I still get a kick out of the way you reacted to The Stylistics, Teddy Pendergrass (Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes) and Humble Pie's Black Coffee! Those musicians touched your soul brother!! 50 years after they cut the record!! That's the mark of excellence! One other comment, The Doors drummer is a jazz drummer, the guitar player is a Flamenco player, the keyboard player is classically trained with a background in jazz and blues. Jim the singer was a huge Frank Sinatra fan. Mix it all together and out comes the music of The Doors! It's hard to believe that such a unique sound is the result of this diverse mix of players!! You hit the nail on the head, this is a song to ride out to ,with your windows down and your stereo loud! I been doing exactly that for over 40 years!! You are a man that has a great ear for great music. I look forward to your observations and appreciation of the best music ever made..1960s and 1970s! The greatest decades for not only quality musicianship and lyrical content but also a great quantity of memorable bands!!

My favourite song by the Doors is Riders of the Storm, I know that many of my family and some of the younger generation love the Doors. I agree this is a great song when you are in a car driving along. It is asong hard to stay still too, I like Jim Morrison's voice the music is Brilliantly played and I'm pretty sure one of the band played the bass and another instrument (my memory is not working today). Take care and stay safe please my friends God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK Ps, I must learn to be still when I'm in pain, but its so hard with great music lol.

JAAAAAAAY!!! LA WOMAN is from the 60's. The only REALLY FREE PEOPLE back then where artists & women working on the streets, alone at night. The Doors did a love confession to those free creatures in a time no one was actually free. It is also about the city. That's why "LA Woman, you're my woman" . It was groundbreaking for the standards of the time it was released. Great choice. Also Unknown Soldier, that took away the "Glamour" of being on military service.

This is different. Haven't heard too much of the Doors, interesting.

...No one sounds like the Doors Lily.Give 'em a listen.I think you will like.Maybe do a wiki, it may help better understand the Doors. I recommend "Riders on the storm", "Roadhouse Blues", "Wiskey Bar" and "Touch Me". If you like those , then maybe check out some deeper cuts.
