Not the end of his career, this 1970 he died 1977. The last 3 years were when he was sick this was the height of his career. His career lasted from 1956 to 1977. The movie was ok but left out some real accomplishments in his career. He loved his fans and gave them cadillacs, jewelry even homes. His wife left him for his karate instructor, not the martyr you see in the movie. Watch "Elvis Presley 200 Cadillacs". And " Elvis Presley King of Kindness." See his generous humanitarian side. Thanks

Nice reaction Rick. I like this song. Elvis improvised, included it unrehearsed. He was spontaneous and natural, and it sounded great. 🥇👍💯🎶🎧

Jane H commenting …. I’ve been a fan since I was 15 in 1965 …. Now I’m 72, so that’s for a long time. I actually loved the movie & I think Austin Butler did a wonderful performance. His dancing was virtually identical, because he rehearsed it until it was perfect. He had a good Elvis-type singing voice, & he trained his talking voice to be similar. Of course, he wasn’t identical in his looks, but it was a passable likeness & Austin is very good looking in his own right, & a great actor. Some diehard Elvis fans just want Elvis to be back & doing that movie, but that just cannot happen, & I think this new movie bought Elvis to the attention of many younger people who knew virtually nothing about Elvis, & it created a new surge of interest in Elvis’ music & in his career, so we now are bringing Elvis back to ‘life’ again, which is wonderful. Now his name & his music & his dynamic performances will be carried into the future. Elvis was a caring, kind-hearted, honest man who was incredibly generous both to those he knew & to total strangers. Love your Reactions … the two of you.

When God created my friend Elvis he was just showing off. I can't tell you how much i love and miss him, there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and cared about my feelings and opinions. What it comes down to is we both needed a true friend and we were that for each other. Bless you from the one and only Memphis Tn. Awesome reaction. Fyi Priscilla did not leave him because of the fans period. they were the loves of each other's lives she still wears her wedding rings that Elvis gave her she said she will never take them off and she hasn't. She is so sweet i am glad she is my friend as well. I have spent most of my life defending my friends from all the hater's. I will continue until i am dead.

This was 1972, five years before his death. He was in good health at this point. 1974 was when his health began to go downhill & he died August 1977 … His final filmed concert was in June 1977 & it was very evident that he was short of breath & looking very tired, but the last song of that live concert, Unchained Melody was a spellbinding performance & he just belted it out. Eight weeks later he died, & the music world lost the brightest light of all.

His twin brother died at birth. Many believe because no one else could look like Elvis, act like Elvis and be like Elvis. They say that is why he had enough energy for two because he got to live. It makes sense. Only Elvis could be Elvis and only Marilyn Monroe could be Marilyn Monroe. Two iconic American Figures. They Created their own character that STILL lasts today. He often wandered why God chose him to be THE ONE to set the stage for the future------no one else could do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 'movie' did more damage than good. Esp misinformation. This was 1970. He spent more time on the road touring than he ever spent in Vegas or his entire career. Vegas broke down to basically 2 engagements a year (1 month, 2 concerts a night). The rest of the year he was playing large arenas where it wasn't unusual for him to do 2 concerts the same day! He also did stadiums. Vegas never defined him, live performances etc did. Btw got nothing good to say about Priscilla, do the REAL research. PEACE!

It might sound great to many that Priscilla gave the movie her blessing. But the fact remains that she has changed a lot of Elvis history to suit her story. Beaulieu, the EX of 50 years, has been altering Elvis history to her liking to enhance her own role in it. She has claimed, among much other made-up stuff, that she was the one who brought "If I can dream" to Elvis' attention and that SHE was the one who designed the TCB logo. When they were still alive, many of the Memphis Mafia members stated that many things she said were untrue, including events that she claimed to have been part of (and often played a pivotal role in) at which she was not even present. They had enough of her BS but, sadly, she survived them all except Jerry Schilling who is totally in her pocket. Elvis' cousin Billy Smith and his wife Jo have already said that so many things are not right as far as things concerning Priscilla are concerned in the movie. Linda Thompson is right: i.postimg.cc/hjYL9bkt/linda-thompson.jpg and Elvis' bassist from the TCB band, Jerry Scheff, doesn't hold back and tells it like it is: i.postimg.cc/FK2GdjDc/Jerry-Scheff-Elvis-movie-comment.jpg. And Alana Nash also pointed out several glaring mistakes in the movie i.postimg.cc/rmDDQvk5/Elvis-facts-Alana-Nash.jpg As far as Priscilla is concerned, I'm sure Elvis loved her for some of the time they knew each other, but in reality, she barely spent any time alone with him. They met in September 1959 in Germany and he returned to the US in March of 1960. He had turned 24 in January; she had turned 14 in May. Her parents consented in her visiting the house that Elvis lived in where he used to entertain his group of friends, hangers-on and invited fans. Meanwhile, he did have a girlfriend back home of several years, Anita Wood. Priscilla was the youngest of the several girls he saw while in Germany. There were about half a dozen others. But she was the youngest and, per her own words, they did little else than talk. She was an exceptionally beautiful young girl, but hardly as innocent as many Priscilla fans make her out to be. After Elvis returned to the US in March of 1960, Priscilla and her family remained in Germany. There she terrorized her mother and stepfather because she had only recently found out he was not her biological father. She went on a hunger strike, skipped school, and pretty much played Elvis and Mr. and Mrs. Beaulieu against each other. She told untruths about her home situation begging Elvis to save her by letting her come over and she made family life in Germany for her parents and half siblings hell. Her mother and stepfather played a questionable role in the development of Priscilla's long distance "affair" with Elvis, because it is not normal that they approved of her sending pictures of herself dressed in babydolls in seductive poses, to Elvis. That reeks of ulterior motives. Do you really believe the Beaulieu family would have acted the same way if Elvis had remained a truck driver learning to be an electrician? Think again. The Beaulieus had dollar signs in their eyes when they pimped out their rebellious teenager. If they had really been worried or incensed and believed that all the initiative came from Presley, they could have stopped it right then and there. Yet, they didn't; they played along. After a few visits from Priscilla from Germany to Elvis in the US, she first moved in with Elvis' father Vernon and stepmother Dee in 1963 when she was close to 18, to finish school there, but after a while she moved into the main house. During these years, Elvis was away from Memphis a lot, making 3 movies a year in Hollywood or locations such as Hawaii. And during all these years he was also still seeing other women. Priscilla herself said multiple times they were hardly ever alone. According to Priscilla, Elvis had promised to marry her when she was 21. But as her birthday had come and gone and her 22nd birthday was approaching and Elvis still had not kept his word, Priscilla, her parents and the colonel (Tom Parker) visited Elvis on a movie set. Nobody knows what really happened there, except that some time during that visit, Elvis had a mysterious fall in the bathroom. The most logical thing that happened is that a threat was made that they would go public about Elvis "dating" a minor while in his twenties if he would not keep his promise to marry her. After all: Jerry Lee Lewis had gone through a scandal that people might be reminded of if the Beaulieus had gone public: Jerry Lee Lewis had married his 13-year-old cousin! After the visit of the Beaulieus and Parker to the movie set, all of a sudden everything escalated and a quick wedding ceremony was arranged on May 1, 1967 (23 days before Priscilla's 22nd birthday) in Las Vegas. The strange thing about that was not just the timing, but also that many people who were close to Elvis were contacted by Parker's people to not attend the wedding. The whole ceremony took , 8-minute, and afterwards they were ushered into a room for a press conference (listen to what the memphis mafia guys say about them getting married at the 24:33 mark of kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pp6Sn7KisJ-UgIE.html). You can hear what Elvis told about the wedding in the recording of the last phone conversation Red West had with him before he died "That wedding thing, that wedding thing. It was in there over and done with so quick. I didn't realize I was married." (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pp6Sn7KisJ-UgIE.html). Priscilla soon became pregnant (some fans theorize that Priscilla was already pregnant, hence the tent-like wedding gown), but halfway through her pregnancy, Elvis already wanted to divorce her. 9 months after the wedding, daughter Lisa Marie was born, after which there was almost no physical relationship between Elvis and Priscilla. By then the 1968 Comeback Special had given a new impulse to his career and from 1969 on he was away from Memphis touring the US for an average of 200 days a year. Both Elvis and Priscilla had affairs during their short marriage. They separated in February of 1972 when Priscilla and Lisa moved to California and Elvis remained in Memphis. Elvis was livid that Priscilla left him for karate teacher Mike Stone (a married man) who only made 30 thousand dollars a year. The funniest thing about the scene in the movie where she leaves him and he follows her off the stairs (crying no less) is that it looks like they were the only 2 people in the house, when one of her main complaints about her time (married or not) with Elvis was that they were almost NEVER alone anywhere. That there were always relatives, friends, staff, members of the Memphis Mafia and even fans around IN the Graceland mansion. Elvis started his relationship with Linda Thompson in the summer of 1972. Elvis filed for divorce on his 38th birthday, January 8, 1973. The divorce was finalized in October of 1973. Priscilla rejected the name Presley and returned to her maiden name Beaulieu after the divorce, stating she wanted to be her own person. She even started a business under that name. But after Elvis died, she soon changed her name to Beaulieu-Presley and some time after that she dropped her maiden name and started calling herself Presley again. She had several relationships after her divorce. In 1984 she met Marco Garibaldi with whom she had a relationship for 21 years. They separated in 2006. Together they had a son, Navarone, in 1987. She never married Garibaldi, although she had a much longer relationship with him than she'd had with Elvis, possibly because she wanted to hang on to the Presley name. Interesting detail is that Elvis did not mention Priscilla at all in his will; not even as guardian of his only child, Lisa Marie.

This was 1970, some consider the peak of his career. He performed in Vegas twice yearly from 1969 until the mid-70s. He died in 1977. The film is a commercialized piece of garbage and is NOT historically accurate. Austin Butler's pathetic acting made Elvis look like a wax caricature and his "performance" was no better than some no-talent Elvis impersonator in a sleazy lounge on the Vegas strip. It's a shame that anyone, especially young people, believe the film is a good representation of the real Elvis ... it's NOT.
