In todays episode we service this next to new Cube Agree SL and found some very lazy bike building! We needed to shorten the steerer tube, bleed a brake and set the SRAM derailuers that had never been set!

I said it before and I’ll say it again: please don’t use copper paste on threads or bolts out of aluminium! This will form galvanic corrosion. Copper grease should only be used on steel parts. Use assembly grease instead. Thanks

Yes, as far as i know copper pastes real usecase is for high temperature applications. Very ironic to talk about preventing galvanic corosion, which basically describes Bonding of different metals like Aluminium to steel or copper, while using a copper paste. He also kinda suggests that using any grease on a bolt is better than using none, which is definetly not ttue and can lead to overstretching a bolt.

I had a bicycle that we bought for the wife, I did some upgrades and they used copper anti seize... that pedal was welded on there 😂 I did finally get it loose but it was a bit hairy

@@user-zd1zc1vv8twhen I worked for a bike manufacturer it was: "if you aren't sure, grease won't hurt, as the torque that called for usually is lower than what the part (or screw) can withstand. However, there are certain screws where grease makes no sense at all, for example a bikestand. That's where you'd use loctite. Or brake rotors. Or the rail for the battery on newer ebikes etc etc. And never would anyone have suggested copper grease. So, stuff we'd put grease on would be pedals, because the time will come where you want to replace them, rear derailleur, and bottle cages. Maybe the occasional other bolt, but generally speaking, just stuff you might want to replace at some point. Copper paste would most likely do a great job preventing you from doing that

I work at a Cube dealer and i wouldn't recommend anyone buying a Cube. They have a reputation for being good value. But they have loads of issues things like unround bbs, untrue brake mounts on some carbon frames you can actually deform the frame with your thumbs cube frames are very flexible (C:68 frames are stiff enough but have the same issues as the rest). And if you point at the paint it will be scratched. Just because it has a force or ultegra groupset doesn't mean it's good value.

Hi Lee, first of all big fan of the content, always look forward to your next videos! I’ve certainly learnt a lot from watching your videos and have adopted a lot of your methods and ways of working keeping on top of my own bike maintenance, so thank you for educating us all! if this comment pops up on your radar, I’d be extremely grateful if one episode you could do a deep dive into your polishing and finishing methodology. E.g how much product you use on the frame, how long do you leave it before you buff it out, can you reapply ceramic spray etc. your general audience may not find it as interesting as me but it would be great if everyone took as much pride as you do in looking after their bikes

I now grease/oil everything after taking components apart on my bike so they don’t corrode and can be easily removed next time. Also, the owner of the bike should contact the manufacturer about the that steerer tube because that is dangerous. I dread think how many more of their bikes have been sold like that.

The Rear mech hangers are way to weak and bend soooo easily resulting in shifting problems or Even worse in rear deraillures damaging the rear Wheel. 2. The Cheaper Models Use Cube OEM rims that are a little bit to big resulting in massive problems when u try to fit new tyres or change the inner tubes :/

Recently found your channel, love the vids bikespeeds team! If you don’t mind, I would like to suggest some things that would be interesting to show (just my opinion). A before and after of the chain and freehub sound would be great, to get a feeling of how cleaning, lubing and indexing has improved the feeling of the bike.

Wonderful vid, as always. A bit shocked about the build quality of this Cube, tbh. I own an older 2016 Cube Touring (converted for gravel and bikepacking purposes😅), and I'm really happy with the build quality on that one. Trouble free bike, really.

I like the use of vinyl to cover damage. That’s a smart way to clean up the visual without taking it to paint. I’ve got a couple “bandaids” on frames and if you work them into the design, you really don’t notice. Especially since nobody really looks at other peoples bikes. Everyone is too focused on their own. Sort of like life 😊

I own the Cube Agree with Shimano DI2 Ultegra, in the beginning, the front derailleur wasn't properly adjusted, other than that, everything just works smoothly ever since.

Back in the day when all new bikes were delivered to a bike shop before the customer got hold it, it would have been normal for the shop to receive it in that type of condition.

‘Bring it back to being on point’? That poor bike was NEVER on point! Fantastic job making that bike safe. It was an accident waiting to happen with the headset ‘set up’ like that. Awesome job as always.

2 things 1.) 4 port axs battery charger is a must for a ship. 30 min full charges and can charge 4 batteries at once. Great for tune ups or people who stop in and have a dead battery. 2.) b-limit adjustment guide. K didn’t see the SRAM derailleur guide used.
