Thank you so much for supporting a blind box of colors. I truly enjoy making each color but the fun does indeed continue when I start to pack everything. Sharing a story as minimally as possible is always my goal and It makes me so happy to see others enjoy something that started from a book of notes. 🥰. ALSO how did I not know you kept bees???? LIKEEEEEEE please adopt me I love beekeeping I am trying to slowly convince my building to put some hives on the roof. 😬

Yamir, thank YOU for your gorgeous creations. They really are exquisite and are a pleasure to stitch with. Bravo!! And yes, to urban bees!! I'm sure you know this already but there are a number of restaurants and individuals who successfully host beehives all over NY. Honeybees have an approximate 3 mile flight radius to find water, pollen and nectar sources so Central Park and some of the other boroughs provide lots of options for them. Shade is key during the summer months for the hottest parts of the day, so a little planning sets them up for success. Love this idea! I think my June FT episode talked about the colony that adopted me last spring, I kept bees for years and then took a break after we moved into our house in 2017. I had some equipment stored in my backyard and a swarm moved in so here we are. I love them, they are incredible little creatures.

Thank you for sharing your bumble bee info. I have worked along side them for years and have been in tune with what they need. In spring I see them sometimes when snow is still on the ground and have tried to plant early blooming plants just for them! To see their little butts sticking out from a snow drop is a gift for sure….I will watch and take pictures to send you😃 i planted many bulbs of daffodils, tulips, and grape hyacinth along with more snowdrops last fall. Gonna be exciting to see. I never knew the Queen was a lone scout in the spring, but do remember in years past seeing an unusually large bumble and honestly it freaked me out! I’m not afraid…And I do talk to them when I’m on my knees and the pull up next to me😂 Love the rose and big pear stitch, I will do that someday. Your conversion is stunning! Thanks again

Oh that sounds so nice. I am so so ready for spring! As I understand it, NZ is a happy place for bees. You have some of the most ideal conditions (climate, terrain, limited access, and bee-friendly rules around pesticides and herbicides) for healthy pollinators.

LOL! Ella is a yellow lab and (amazingly) doesn't do the slobber shake the way some of her predecessors have so whew! Projects are usually pretty safe around the two dogs I currently have (although Charlie did chew on one of my vintage silk spools DURING FILMING of one of my videos when I accidentally dropped it on the floor and kept talking without picking it up right away).

We usually have a small bumblebee family living in an abandoned spout in our back yard 🐝 As soon as they come back, I'll snap a pic! We have a clover yard (no grass for us), so it keeps them fat 'n' sassy! Also gosh 52 starts for your 52th year sounds pretty perfect 👀

I'll look forward to seeing dees20 bees! At this point my grass is basically clover every spring until it gets too dry and then it's brown like the rest of my neighborhood 'lawns'. I wish things here were starting to sprout. We just got snow/sleet/freezing rain/rain all in one day. I won’t see spring blooming until late March. I love all the information on the 🐝. The more the public knows the better. The world needs Mother Nature and her pollinators to survive. Today is a red letter day. Btw I have a old Singer sewing machine that my grandmother had. It’s black with the ornate silver plate on it. When I get a chance to look at it, I can tell you the model and serial number. I know it’s early and runs on electricity, not push pedal. My guess is around 1920’s ish.

This was such a fun video. I laughed out loud at your dog drinking. Hilarious, and your overlay in your editing made it even funnier. I live on the opposite side of the country from you in the deep south, but our growing zones are the same so we see the first signs of Spring in February. What I look for is the soft cranberry haze of red maples as they put on their first red spring growth from which they get their name. Have you seen the Halloween adaptation of the Enchanted Alphabet? I want to stitch this twice - probably one letter per day as my morning stitch - that is, if I'm lucky enough to find one of those elusive patterns.

So good to see you again. It was very interesting to see that you and I shared several of the same thoughts recently. I watched previously as you finished G. Leger and have wanted to stitch it ever since I saw your finish. When The Rose and the Giant Pear released recently, I thought to myself that would be a great and much more manageable G. Leger. It has the pear and the house, both things that attracted me to G. Leger in the first place. Also, I recently purchased mini charm packs to make project bags based on Elizabeth Ann Can Stitch’s tutorial. The milk glass mugs you found were the same that my grandmother had in our weekend mountain house when I was young. I have searched eBay a couple of times for Enchanted Alphabet after watching Kristina’s FlossTube. I think it would be pretty to stitch for my new granddaughter’s nursery. I guess great minds think alike 😉 Thank you for an enjoyable hour of stitching. Take care! Kara I forgot to mention stitch a letter 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi Jody! Interesting about bumblebees. You are a good educator. Thanks for the PSA! I have let my friends know too. I definitely have dandelions around, so I will let them proliferate. I think they are kind of pretty anyway! Although I think that some of these big black I assume bumblebees are not such great pollinators. I stood out there and watched one load himself up with pollen on my male pumpkin, and then he flew over the female pumpkin, hovered over it, and then took off without pollinating it! I saw that more than once. They seem to realize that they are not getting anything off the females so they don’t bother! I ended up hand pollinating the pumpkins last year. Good luck on the blanket! You might want to read the label, I bet that it is not pure merino wool. I have never seen red heart put out pure wool. May be able to get away with a gentle cold cycle in you mr wash machine. Especially if it’s in a laundry bag. Things felt as much from agitation as from heat. I always machine wash my hand knit wool socks in laundry bags and it is with hot water! They never felt. I just don’t put them in the dryer. I love looking at needle felted things! I have not yet got into it. However I am also very interested in wool felt appliqué. Brenda bought a whole lot of kits recently, and she is always buying those cute little wool decorative things like pumpkins and candy canes too. Cool buttons and mugs from the antique store! Make sure that the decoration on the coffee mug is not metallic or you won’t be able to put it in your microwave! I keep forgetting that when I put my old mixing bowl in the microwave that has a little metallic decoration on it. Microwave does not like it! 😀
@trixietricycle
@trixietricycle 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting thing about bumble bees - they can tell if they have already visited a bloom and will skip it if they have. They are so fuzzy that they carry pollen all over the place so it's possible that the pumpkin blossom had an earlier visit. That said, can't go wrong with a hand pollination to make sure. : ) This yarn is actually 100% wool! (I was surprised too) It does say it can be machine washed cool on gentle so if I'm feeling brave I'll try it. And goooood call on the microwave and the metallic trim, those little cups will be a hand wash only item and won't go in the micro. No need for fireworks with my coffee LOL

Did you use the fusible fleece in your fabric project bag? It looks a little more structured than when I made mine, but that could be the quilting.
@trixietricycle
@trixietricycle 2 жыл бұрын
I believe on that bag I used fusible fleece for the outer back panel, and then I used a natural cotton quilt batting for the front lower panel. The quilting (especially with those 2.5" charm pack squares) and top stitching definitely gave it a little more structure. It could also be the way I was holding it? It doesn't feel too stiff when I'm using it but it seems to hold its shape pretty well.
