Before starting intermittent fasting, I had gained a lot of weight, mostly in my belly. I felt bloated and uncomfortable in my clothes. By eating fermented and probiotic foods, I was able to naturally start shrinking my bloated belly fat. Intermittent fasting is also very important for losing belly fat.

Hi Sandy! Sauerkraut that you buy in a store - whether it be canned or jarred - is not a source of a good probiotic. They sauerkraut is cooked, therefore, the beneficial probiotics are destroyed. Sandy, thanks for your video. I thought I’d mention that if you make your own kombucha, which is super simple, I believe you would really like it. I don’t like a lot of them in the grocery stores either. As you know it has so many health benefits. I make mine with green tea, add the sugar and the Scoby (friendly bacteria) put it on top of my fridge and let it sit for a week to 10 days. I do like to do a second ferment when I have a minute. Pineapple and Ginger is my favorite to put in it. I leave it on the counter for a day. It is so good. I’ve even heard it can reverse gray hair.

I love sauerkraut when it's nice and crunchy. I've yet to make some. I've been making fermented carrots and eat a little each day. I want to get into sourdough. Right now I've just been making regular artisan bread, but am planning to start a sourdough starter soon. I've stopped eating the bread from the store. I just learned to make my own pretzel rolls as well. Baby steps.

Heads up, for those who are *_histamine intolerant_* this can send you over the histamine edge. Without knowing that I had a problem with producing the enzyme that breaks down histamine (DAO) I started fermenting and eating all the veggies in our garden this year. Now, 8 months later, my histamine bucket is overflowing and *_everything_* I eat (not just probiotic or other high histamine food) causes an asthma attack. I'm fasting, taking gut health supplements, and taking a LOW-HISTAMINE probiotic to get back on track after my over-indulgence (for anyone with low DAO) in probiotic food. Before I figured out the problem I was almost to the anaphylaxis stage.

Hello! I mix 1 TBSP ACV, and 1 TBSP lemon juice in 16-20 ounces of water. Make sure and drink it with a straw to protect your teeth! If this seems to strong to you at first, just half the amount of acv and lemon juice in the same amount of water.

What helped me so much to understand about intermittent fasting was to understand that when you open up your eating window to eat a meal and then fast again for a few hours before you eat again instead of snacking throughout the entire eating window! I have noticed my weight, bloat and inches dropping I’m sure due to the insulin stabilizing in my body!
@sandysteinbrook
@sandysteinbrook Жыл бұрын
I think that is exactly what it is. That we aren't having constant sugar spikes all day long. Eating in an eight hour window, for me, doesn't allow time for snacks because I am eating full and satisfying meals that I am full until my next meal. It is so freeing to live thisliefstyle and not be constantly thinking about food.

Hi Sandy! Unfortunately I can't handle Kombucha or much fermented food. I do way worse on fermented foods! I can have a tiny bit- but I really have to watch it. I think it has something to do with high histamine in these foods- so if you don't react favorably, they aren't for you! Also I have an autoimmune condition and people with this don't do well with fermented. I wish I could handle them. My body also hates "prebiotics"- thought I was doing something healthy for myself and the bloating was worse than ever! Anyhow, I am doing your "clean" fasting now- I think that was one of my issues- the Nutpods in my coffee.

I saw apple cider vinegar capsules available from Amazon and was interested in asking what you thought about using that instead of drinking the mixture of the vinegar and lemon juice.
@sandysteinbrook
@sandysteinbrook Жыл бұрын
It is an option for people that can't handle swallowing the apple cider vinegar. Make sure you use a straw if you use it as a liquid so it protects your teeth plus you bypass most of your tongue and the acidic taste. But as far as the capsules, read the ingredients. I know people take the apple cider vinegar gummies, but they break a fast because of the sweeteners that is in it. But if the capsules probably don't and would prob work just fine!

Beware that acv and lemon juice are extremely hard on your teeth. I have seen suggestions of using a straw to help. My dentist told me that if I do drink lemon, don’t brush my teeth for an hour after because the acid has softened your enamel.

I have been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 30 years. The suggestion to use a straw as a way to protect your teeth from ACV and lemon is a myth. There is NO way for the acid from the food and beverages we eat to somehow bypass damaging our teeth... even with a straw. The only thing using a straw is good for is causing fine lines and creases all around the mouth from years of use that will look like you were a cigarette smoker. It is best to avoid using a straw if you want to keep a youthful appearance of your face. I too drink ACV and lemon water, I just rinse with plain water afterwards and don't brush my teeth for at least 30 minutes. Hope this is helpful.
